Lotus 76 Ex-Jacky Ickx & Ronnie Peterson
Lotus 76 Bi-plane rear wing! a Formula One car designed by Colin Chapman, Tony Rudd and Ralph Bellamy for the 1974 Formula One season.
powered by the Ford Cosworth DFV V8 3L.
Lotus 76 was seen as a major technological breakthrough by Team Lotus. Outwardly, the car looked sleek and impressive.
Internally, the suspension set up and inboard brake positioning were carried over from the Lotus 72.
The car's development had been paid for by title sponsor John Player Special, so the 76 was given
the chassis number 'John Player Special Mk I.'
Lotus 77 Ex-Mario Andretti / Gunnar Nilsson
The Lotus 77 featured a slimmer, lighter monocoque design over the 72, but was similarly powered by the Cosworth DFV.
It featured improved aerodynamics and repositioned radiators to aid better cooling. The front brakes were initially inboard,
in line with its predecessors, but were moved outboard in a more conventional design part-way through the season.
The suspension was designed around a series of rocker arms instead of the usual set up of wishbones.
The idea behind the new system was to set the suspension up for a specific track, taking into account ride height and road surface,
and the 77 was dubbed 'The Adjustacar' as a result. It worked in a fashion, but inexperience with such an infinitely adjustable
car meant that optimum settings were often not achieved. Drivers Mario Andretti and Gunnar Nilsson reported the steering and ride were occasionally vague and unresponsive and that the car lacked straight-line speed. Andretti did not care for the car,
proclaiming it to be a 'dog.' This motivated Lotus to accelerate research and create the Lotus 78.

John Player changed there marketing in 1980s to promote a more "every day" cigarette brand, with heavy promotion in motorsport and a more relaxed image.

In late 1978/early 1979 Lotus released a limited edition of the S2 Esprit to commemorate Mario Andretti winning the 1978 Formula 1 Constructor and Driver championships. They were all finished in the black and gold colours of their sponsor JPS; unfortunately once the cars were ready for sale JPS no longer sponsored the team so they could not be called JPS Esprits. Unnoficially they have become known as the "JPS"; however their correct name is the "World Championship Commemorative Model"

John Player & Sons
John Player & Sons, known simply as Player's, was a tobacco and cigarette manufacturer based in Nottingham, England. Today it is a part of the Imperial Tobacco Group.
History
In March 1820, William Wright set up a small tobacco factory in Broadmarsh, Nottingham. This business expanded and earned Wright a comfortable fortune. John Player bought the business in 1877. He had the Castle Tobacco Factories built in Radford, Nottingham, just west of the city centre. He had three large factory blocks built, but initially only one was used to process and pack tobacco. The other two blocks were loaned out to lace manufacturers until the business had expanded enough to use the additional space.
One of John Player's innovations was to offer pre-packaged tobacco. Before this, smokers would have bought tobacco by weight from loose supplies and cigarette papers to roll them in. He also adopted a registered trade mark as a guarantee to the public that the goods could be relied on.
The business was run later by Player's sons John Dane Player and William Goodacre Player.

Ayrton Senna
Ayrton Senna da Silva (Brazilian Portuguese: [aˈiʁtõ ˈsẽnɐ dɐ ˈsiwvɐ]; 21 March 1960 – 1 May 1994) was a Brazilian racing driver who won three Formula One world championships in 1988, 1990 and 1991. He was killed in an accident while leading the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. He was among the most dominant and successful Formula One drivers of the modern era and is considered by many as the greatest racing driver of all time.
Senna began his motorsport career in karting, moving up to open-wheel racing in 1981, and winning the British Formula 3 championship in 1983. He made his Formula One debut with Toleman-Hart in 1984 before moving to Lotus-Renault the following year and winning six Grands Prix over the next three seasons. In 1988, he joined Frenchman Alain Prost at McLaren-Honda. Between them, they won all but one of the 16 Grands Prix that year and Senna claimed his first World Championship. Prost claimed the championship in 1989, and Senna his second and third championships in 1990 and 1991. In 1992, the Williams-Renault combination began to dominate Formula One. Senna nonetheless managed to finish the 1993 season as runner-up, winning five races and negotiating a move to Williams in 1994.

car meant that optimum settings were often not achieved. Drivers Mario Andretti and Gunnar Nilsson reported the steering and ride were occasionally vague and unresponsive and that the car lacked straight-line speed. Andretti did not care for the car,
proclaiming it to be a 'dog.' This motivated Lotus to accelerate research and create the Lotus 78.

John Player changed there marketing in 1980s to promote a more "every day" cigarette brand, with heavy promotion in motorsport and a more relaxed image.

Hang-On (ハングオン Hangu On?) is an arcade game designed by Yu Suzuki and released by Sega in 1985. In the game, the player controls a motorcycle against time and other computer-controlled bikes. It was one of the first arcade games to use 16-bit graphics and Sega's "Super Scaler" technology that allowed pseudo-3D sprite-scaling at high frame rates. It also introduced a motion-controlled arcade cabinet, where the player's body movement on a large motorbike-shaped cabinet corresponds with the player character's movements on screen, inspiring arcade games that followed and anticipating the modern motion control trend. No Domingo, a chuva tinha fito a sua aparição. Talvez muitos ainda não tivessem esquecido a sua prestação no Mónaco quase um ano antes, mas na altura da partida, não sabiam o show que o piloto brasileiro iria fazer naquela tarde... Sendo assim, na largada, Senna e De Angelis aproveitaram e passaram para a frente, enquanto que Prost ficava na terceira posição e era consideravelmente mais lento em pista, devido à sua falta de jeito em piso molhado. Entretanto, Mansell fica parado na grelha e perde imensas posições. Consegue colocar o carro a funcionar, mas parte de último.
Com o benefício de partir na frente, Senna alarga a sua vantagem, à razão de 1,5 segundos por volta. A concentração era total, e o carro negro e dourado vai-se embora, tranquilamente. Atrás, De Angelis tentava manter o segundo lugar, ameaçado pelo Ferrrari de Michele Alboreto e pelo McLaren de Alain Prost. O francês desistiu na volta 30, quando o seu carro entrou em “acquaplanning” na Recta Interior. Por outro lado, o Brabham de Nelson Piquet estava a arrastar-se no final do pelotão devido a problemas com os seus pneus Pirelli. Estes eram tão maus que o brasileiro se deu ao luxo de trocar de macacão, pois sabia que a operação não ia valer de nada...
Ao longo das voltas, o mundo inteiro percebe que está a ver um fenómeno em pista. Alguém tão jovem, logo no seu 18º Grande Prémio, e o segundo ao volante do Lotus negro e dourado da John Player Special, percebia-se que estavam a ver um sobredotado, fazendo uma verdadeira serenata à chuva! Mas o tempo piorava, e as desistências acumulavam-se, e quer os pilotos (Senna incluindo) quer os directores de equipa, da Lotus e da Ferrari, que queriam a corrida interrompida.
Mas desta vez, isto não seria como no ano anterior, no Mónaco, e o director da prova decidiu prolongá-la até ao limite das duas horas de corrida. Isso aconteceu quando Senna cruzava a meta pela 67ª vez, a três voltas das 70 previstas. Nessa altura, todos explodiram de alegria: Senna, por ter alcançado a sua primeira vitória, mostrando serviço ao volante de um carro competitivo, a Lotus, que provava que havia vida depois de Colin Chapman, falecido dois anos e meio antes, e que voltavam a estar na linha da frente. E os fãs, que tinham assistido a um espectáculo à chuva.
Para o Brasil, era uma bela surpresa, no seu Dia de Tiradentes, exactamente 25 anos depois de inaugurarem Brasila, num país que estava preso pelas novidades de um cada vez mais agonizante Tancredo Neves. Hang-On (ハングオン Hangu On?) is an arcade game designed by Yu Suzuki and released by Sega in 1985. In the game, the player controls a motorcycle against time and other computer-controlled bikes. It was one of the first arcade games to use 16-bit graphics and Sega's "Super Scaler" technology that allowed pseudo-3D sprite-scaling at high frame rates. It also introduced a motion-controlled arcade cabinet, where the player's body movement on a large motorbike-shaped cabinet corresponds with the player character's movements on screen, inspiring arcade games that followed and anticipating the modern motion control trend.
The game was also built into some versions of the Sega Master System. The title is derived from when the biker is turning and has to "hang on" to the bike while the bike is leaning, which Suzuki had read in a Japanese bike magazine, though Suzuki learned later the technique was called "hang off" in North America. Nevertheless, he chose to keep the former name.
Using a behind the motorcycle perspective, the player races a linear race track divided into several stages within a limited time. Reaching a checkpoint at the end of each stage extends the time limit. The game ends if the time runs out.
The arcade game contains in-game billboards for Bridgestone (and their Desert Dueler tires), Shell, Garelli Motorcycles, TAG, John Player Special cigarettes, Forum cigarettes, and for "Marbor", an obvious parody of Marlboro cigarettes. The arcade flyer features a bike in Marlboro colors, who had sponsored the Yamaha YZR500 during the world championships in the mid and late 1980s. There would be a controversy over cigarette ads in games marketed to children upon the release of another Sega racing game, Super Monaco GP in 1989.
