WordPress + about.me = awesome

We’re always on the lookout for partnerships that expand our offerings and benefit our users. We’ve found such a partnership with WordPress and are thrilled to announce the about.me WordPress widget.

Available on both WordPress.com and WordPress.org, this widget shows off your about.me background, bio and services within your blog sidebar. Take a look!

The beauty of this widget is that you have an instantly populated about section for your blog with your about.me content. Not only is it visual but it connects your readers with who you are and where you have a presence online.

And, it automatically updates as you use the services you’ve connected or edit your biography at about.me. It’s a realtime snapshot of who you are, always.

To add this to your WordPress.com blog:

1. Go to the Widgets section of your Appearance settings.
2. Drag the about.me widget to your preferred Widget Area.
3. Add your about.me username to and configure your widget.

To add it to your WordPress.org blog follow these steps:

  1. Upload the widget archive to your /wp-content/plugins/ directory.
  2. Activate the plugin through the ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
  3. Go to Appearance/Widgets to move the widget into your theme and configure it.

Using the about.me WordPress widget ensures your identity is consistent wherever you are online. Besides personalizing your blog, it’s specific and unique to you.

Health Style

I first heard of health style from Darya Pino, blogger at Summer Tomato. In perusing about.me, I’ve found dozens more who focus on health and wellness!

It’s impressive and inspiring to see people take their own health and wellness to the streets, to help others lead healthier lives.

I love the idea of a food whisperer!

How’s your health style?

Stop, Collaborate and listen

We’ve gone through bios and backgrounds with the compliments we offer. But collaboration is a bit different. Each person might have different guidelines for who’d they’d want to work with or help.

Still, each of these people are offering collaboration in their bios, so straight from their pages here are some of the best!

So go ahead: compliment, connect, create and collaborate!

A Wordologist! Amy is a perfect example of a clean and well-written professional page.

And in case you weren’t sure what she does, her background image reinforces it.

The early advocates

We’re going old-school with featured pages today!
Investors are a critical piece of a company developing, supporting them as ideas in entrepreneurs’ minds. And this group has been on the about.me platform since the beginning. Product Guy Josh Elman, above, kicks it off.

David Hornik rocks a custom puppet likeness on his page.

Andy Weissman has taken advantage of the new Instagram collage backgrounds.

It’s amazing to see the variety of backgrounds and personalities. Their bios reveal even more about who they are and where they’re from.
