Stephen Fry on Ulysses - James Joyce
www.whyilovethisbook.com - One Minute Book Review Videos - "I'll tell you the book I have chosen as my favourite book. And it may make some people's heart sink, because it is associated with difficulty, where in fact it should be associated with joy..." "It is to me the most perfectly written book. Or perhaps the second most perfectly written book. But this book is deeper, richer and wider." "I have no idea what it's like in Dutch, I can't imagine how you would translate it. But if your English is good enough, read it. And you'll be astonished by how beautiful it is." Stephen Fry is polymath, trader in words, entertainer, national embarrassment, 53 jaar en woont in London & Hollywood.

Taken from a series called "Great Modern Writers", this playful documentary introduces James Joyce's most famous work "Ulysses". It includes fantastic adaptations to film from passages of the novel. It also includes excerpts from a book written by Joyce's friend, the artist Frank Budgen, entitled "James Joyce and the making of Ulysses". Amongst those interviewed is author Anthony Burgess.

Finnegans Wake
(UPDATED VERSION HERE: www.youtube.com The audio (recorded in 1929) is of James Joyce reading the Anna Livia Plurabelle section of Finnegans Wake. It's a chattering dialogue between two washer women who as night falls become a tree and a stone. (pages 213-216, or the last few pages of part 1) The same audio is on youtube already but it doesn't have subtitles so i figured it would make more sense to have a version with the words included since you're missing half the story if you listen to the audio just by itself..... (although, being finnegans wake it still might not make sense even with the subtitles but it definitely makes more sense than subtitles youtube comes up with: click on the cc button in the bottom right to see them) ...and i threw in some animation while i was at it, just in time for all you Joyce fans on Blooms Day 2011 this week, enjoy!

A Rap Tribute to James Joyce by Frank Delaney
Frank Delaney is the author for various books including "The Matchmaker of Kenmare" , "Ireland" and "Shannon". Please don't sue me Mr. Delaney James Augustine Aloysius Joyce (2 February 1882 -- 13 January 1941) was an Irish novelist and poet, considered to be one of the most influential writers in the modernist avant-garde of the early 20th century. Joyce is best known for Ulysses (1922), a landmark work in which the episodes of Homer's Odyssey are paralleled in an array of contrasting literary styles, perhaps most prominently the stream of consciousness technique he perfected. Other major works are the short-story collection Dubliners (1914), and the novels A Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man (1916) and Finnegans Wake (1939). His complete oeuvre includes three books of poetry, a play, occasional journalism, and his published letters.

"Syfy WWE SmackDown" Director's Cut
We are proud to be part of bringing to life the launch campaign for WWE's popular SmackDown series on NBC Universal's SyFy. Directed by Jose Gomez, these spots combine live-action 35mm cinematography with original graphics and VFX artistry to create short, powerful vignettes that cinematically render the signature moves of WWE superstars Big Show, Kane, Kofi Kingston, Rey Mysterio, and The Undertaker. As it has within so many historic Shilo projects, Jose's passion for character development once again takes center stage in this campaign. "For me, it's all about working out the story and character development by delving into the emotional side and personifying the fascinating characters we shoot."

Homework, a duo based in Amsterdam, have been teasing everyone with a little track from their upcoming EP on Exploited called "Fissa Tune" to be released on July 2nd. Not much to say about this, except expect to hear it a lot this summer. This is extravagant dancefloor ammunition from "Exploited Records", kicking off with a title track that chops and splices samples of Middle Eastern pipes, klezmer-ish reeds and gulping vocal snippets. It hangs together in an effective, bass-warbling fashion.

"A superb varied 4 track Ep of sounds and styles is what we have here. Already the title track is a bit of an underground hit, but pooled with 3 more impressive tracks, makes this release from Exploited Records very sought after. Expect to hear gypsy vibes, jackin house, 4/4 mashup stylee, cheeky blatant sampling and more. If you haven’t yet, do discover Exploited !!"
