Hercules Against the Mongols (Maciste contro i Mongoli)
1963 directed by Domenico Paolella Mark Forest, José Greci and Maria Grazia Spina. Though Genghis Khan eventually sought peace with the West, his death in 1227 AD puts into power his three war-like sons: Sayan, Susdal, and Kin Khan. These sons quickly overrun the city of Tuleda and take prisoner Princess Bianca, though young Prince Alessio escapes. Hercules comes to the rescue of Bianca, winning her freedom in a tournament in exchange for becoming a slave himself. Forces from the West soon come to re-take Tuleda and Hercules -- freed from his bonds -- helps to dispatch Genghis Khan's three sons while again saving Bianca and reuniting her with her young brother. The following revue is from the Internet Movie Database by Bryce David (Psychotronic land) -- ""As far as Sword & Sandal films go, HERCULES AGAINST THE MONGOLS is a pretty good effort. The film moves at a really fast clip. Technically, the film is well directed, with a little more thought put into it than most cardboard actioners from Italy. The cast is uniformly good looking: Mark Forest is in top shape and is basically shirtless throughout the movie and he has a couple of stand-out scenes which showcases his muscular physique (he even gets hurt by an arrow!). José Greci, a regular in these kind of films, is truly gorgeous and makes an impressive "royalty". The actors playing Mongols don't look like Mongols but then I believe there were few Mongol actors back then (or even now). Like so many of these movies ...

Counting the Cost - Is Mongolia over-reliant on its resources?
This week on Counting the Cost Al Jazeera's Steve Chao travelled to Mongolia. Despite being surrounded by global powers such as China and Russia, Mongolia is no economic backwater. The vast country is rich in resources with deposits of coal, copper, and gold worth an estimated $1.3 trillion. On the back of these resources the country saw over 13 per cent growth in 2011 and in the same year spending rose by 56 per cent. However big growth and spending inevitably sparks high inflation and Mongolia is no exception, with 11 per cent inflation in December. So is it all too much, too fast? And is the Mongolian economy over-reliant on these natural resources? To answer these questions Counting the Cost spoke to Tsakhiagin Elbegdorj, the Mongolian president. He says: "Most of our growth is actually coming from mining and we would like to make our economy like a rainbow-coloured economy, you know, now Mongolia's economy is mostly one colour and we would like to have more colours. Of course I have a message to foreign investors: Do not see Mongolia as a single mining business country, there are many opportunities... Mongolia can be a great hub between Russia and China in this region - an infrastructural hub, financial hub, high-tech hub, we have the potential."

Mongolia
Inspiring Mongolia
Mongolia is truly one of the world's last undiscovered travel destinations and the safest country to visit. It is a land where you can experience wide-open spaces, cobalt blue skies, forests, deserts, crystal clear rivers and lakes, and the traditional hospitality of the nomads. Permanent dwellings are few and far between, fences even fewer and the land is owned by the people, like one large National Park. As a tremendous destination to experience the outdoors, Mongolia also boasts of unique history dating back to the Mongol Empire of Genghis Khan. Khan Bogd - Höömij - Mongolia
Album 2005 - (guttural singing) - Orkhonbaatar Chinbat, Gereltsogt Jamba, Ganburged Bukhchuluun, Dorjnyam Shinetsog-Gyeni, Duuren Uuriintuya The performance of overtone singing usually takes place at social events such as eating or drinking parties. The Mongols call their overtone singing höömij (= throat, pharynx). The singer creates a constant pitched fundamental considered as a drone, and at the same time modulates the selected overtones to create a formantic melody from harmonics.
