hermeticsource.info Video created by John Carnagey The Following is taken from the Kybalion... "The infinite mind of The ALL, is the womb of universes." "While it is true that the ALL is all, it is equally true that the ALL is within ALL." "..And, in the degree that Man realizes the existence of the Indwelling Spirit immanent within his being, so will he rise in the spiritual scale of life. This is what spiritual development means-the recognition, realization, and manifestation of the Spirit within us. Try to remember this last definition-that of spiritual development. It contains the Truth of True Religion." "As above, So Below." The Hermetic Teachings are to the effect that THE ALL is Imminent in ("remaining within; inherent; abiding within") its Universe, and in every part, particle, unit, or combination, within the Universe. This statement is usually illustrated by the Teachers by a reference to the Principle of Correspondence. The Teacher instructs the student to form a Mental Image of something, a person, an idea, something having a mental form, the favorite example being that of the author or dramatist forming an idea of his characters; or a painter or sculptor forming an image of an ideal that he wished to express by his art. In each case, the student will find that while the image has its existence, and being, solely within his own mind, yet he, the student, author, dramatist, painter, or sculptor, is, in a sense, immanent in; remaining within; or abiding within ...

Binaural Beats: Powerful Concentration, Focus & Manifestation - Gamma 40 Hz
*Must listen with headphones* What Are Gamma Brain Waves? -Show more- The fastest documented brainwave frequency range is that of Gamma Brain Waves -- which oscillate within the range of 40 Hz to 70 Hz. Gamma Brain Waves have the smallest amplitude on an EEG in comparison to the other four basic types of brainwave frequencies. Gamma Brain Waves have long been considered the brain's information and sensory-binding brainwave -- or the brainwave that is able to link and process information from all parts of the brain. Having high amounts of Gamma Brainwave activity has been associated with: having high levels of intelligence, being compassionate, having high amounts of self-control, and feelings of natural happiness. Gamma Brain Waves have also been linked to having a great memory and an increased perception of reality. People lacking in Gamma Brainwaves tend to experience difficulties with learning and mental processing. Usually people with impaired or retarded mental functioning tend to have significantly less Gamma Brainwave activity than those who have average and above-average intelligences. There seems to be a correlation with higher amounts of Gamma Brainwave activity and increased brain functioning ability. How Can You Experience Gamma Brain Waves? If you want to experience boosted mental processing speed, a better perception of reality, and want to get a richer-sensory experience, then you should definitely consider increasing your Gamma Brain Waves. The indie rock band Modest Mouse is getting the royal treatment from Bent Image Lab’s new director/partner Nando Costa. Just completed, the band’s new music video is a dark and expressive piece of film-making. Heavily rooted in live-action, the impressive six-minute video includes intense moments of stop motion, visual effects, and motion graphics techniques, all brought to life within the studio’s walls.
The visuals follow an artist who enters his personal sanctuary where he is presented with a hand-crafted drawing tool that assists him in materializing his mental impressions. Through drawing circular patterns, the machine discharges an endless web of yarn that guides him through his visual representations of his memories. The story progresses to reveal that he is divided between two worlds, one of dull reality and the second of warped memories. In the process of finding a way out of his consciousness, he is trapped between the two competing spaces, which eventually inflict lethal damage, acting as metaphors to self-destruction.
This lyrical and moving piece was conceived by Nando Costa working closely with lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock to polish some of the film's intricacies. Featuring a seamless combination of live-action and stop motion that alternates between stage shots of Modest Mouse and a spiraling dream-like world of ever-shifting landscapes, Whale Song is a stunning representation of the combined capabilities of Nando and Bent. The variety and execution of the VFX portions of the video – from yarn reeling into complex patterns to a guitar that plays with no musician attached – strongly evoke the confused and surreal patterns of one's warped memories. Additional creative touches such as animated and intricate photographic collages and giant CG snails sliding across the band's stage – add variety and depth to the surreal world.
“This new video is the perfect showcase for the benefits of the collaboration between myself and Bent,” noted Costa. “I typically wouldn't have created a film with this much live-action or stop motion, and Bent also wouldn't normally approach a project with such a strong motion graphics influence, which is what I have long specialized in. With such well integrated in-house teams, I can’t imagine that there’s a project out there that we couldn’t pull off.”
One of the challenges in Whale Song was to recreate the contours of an ever changing, disorienting and intriguing series of landscapes. Costa shot the majority of the piece with Bent’s RED One cameras, which came in handy for their 4K capabilities when adding camera movement in post. In order to create the feeling that lead singer/guitarist Isaac Brock was being split up between two competing scenarios of pure reality and his imagination, for example, Costa mounted two of the RED cameras side by side on a custom plate, each with identical lenses set at an angle to simulate a stereoscopic effect.
In another instance, band members that appeared to be standing on the ground were actually hoisted aloft and secured to a fake ground plane, which meant that the stage floor was perpendicular to the ground. This situation intentionally restrained their flexibility and shifted the gravity, adding oddness to their movements.
Costa used a variety of frame rates, ranging from time-lapses at 6 frames per second, to 1000 fps shots from a Phantom camera to give the feeling of variety of speed in the character's memories. Blue screen stages were used extensively to place Isaac against the varying landscapes of mountains, dense forest valleys, and deserts. Bent's CG department was also responsible for creating significant portions of the video's landscapes and scenic elements.
During production, Nando and his team relied solely on a very detailed script containing technical and creative notes, live-action and animation guidelines, with specifications for composting and stop motion, which were all previously defined and polished by the director. “From what I’ve learned, producing a project at Bent is a wonderfully self-contained experience,” noted Costa. “From building intricate props to figuring out complex CG shots, Bent has specialists in all fields. I’ll walk over to the stage for live-action, then back to compositing, load the footage and work from there. It makes the whole process immeasurably easier, and creatively freeing.”
“Seeing this video makes me feel good about what we’ve done here at Bent”, stated Bent EP Ray Di Carlo”. We set out to establish a creative clubhouse atmosphere where talented people like Nando could come to work. I’ve always admired directors who can hold a project’s final vision in their minds eye and are able to let the talents around them do their respective jobs for a pr

INSPIRATION:
This video is inspired, in part, by the ideas explored in David Deutsch’s new book, THE BEGINNING OF INFINITY. We hope it moves you.
"The topographical shape and the material constitution of the upper surface of the island of Manhattan, as it exists today, is much less a matter of geology than it is of economics and politics and human psychology. The effects of geological forces were trumped (you might say) by other forces — forces that proved themselves, in the fullness of time, physically stronger. Deutsch thinks the same thing must in the long run be true of the universe as a whole. Stuff like gravitation and dark energy are the sorts of things that determine the shape of the cosmos only in its earliest, and most parochial, and least interesting stages. The rest is going to be a matter of our own intentional doing.." - David Alpert on David Deutsch's new book.
"Some time in the last fifty thousand years, with the invention of culture, the biological evolution of humans ceased and evolution became an epigenetic, cultural phenomenon... technology is the real skin of our species. Humanity, correctly seen in the context of the last five hundred years, is an extruder of technological material. We take in matter that has a low degree of organization; we put it through mental filters, and we extrude jewelry, gospels, space shuttles. This is what we do. We are like coral animals embedded in a technological reef of extruded psychic objects." - Terence Mckenna
**
In our work, we use the tools of editing: we juxtapose 'transcalar' imagery, cutting and overlapping the very small and the very large... From the nano to the galactic, stretching and compressing time, we feature time lapse to reveal the repetitive and recurring patterns across different scales of reality. The aim is to provide multiple perspectives all at once, whose simultaneous presentation might cause spontaneous epiphanies. “These patterns are omnipresent, but only when we see these patterns in a more compressed mode of presentation to we start to attend to them as such.” -- This is KEY!
Paul Stamet's superb book, Mycelium Running, begins with a discussion of what Stamets calls the mycelial archetype. He compares the mushroom mycelium with the overlapping information-sharing systems that comprise the Internet, with the networked neurons in the brain, and with a computer model of dark matter in the universe. All share this densely intertwingled filamental structure.
A recent profile of Stephen Johnson on Dumbo Feather described his work like this:
“Johnson uses ‘The Long Zoom’ to define the way he looks at the world—if you concentrate on any one level, there are patterns that you miss. When you step back and simultaneously consider, say, the sentience of a slime mold, the cultural life of downtown Manhattan and the behaviour of artificially intelligent computer code, new patterns emerge."
On their own, these areas of study are fascinating. Together, a more profound view takes shape.
The article continues, "Put simply: cities are like ant colonies are like software is like slime molds are like evolution is like disease is like sewage systems are like poetry is like the neural pathways in our brain. Everything is connected.”
PERFORMING PHILOSOPHY:
Our stated goal is to re-ignite the art of the "performing philosophers" ... like Timothy Leary and Buckminster Fuller... A post on Space Collective wrote about “thinkers who act as substantial agents of change, who drastically alter the infocologies they interact with, in the process transforming and meshing the different dimensions in which our minds operate.”
We care about the pleasures derived in forming new connections, mash-ups and innovative solutions for the next step in human evolution.
We are working to articulate our understanding through the creation of recombinant media mashups meant to epiphanize audiences----the creating and sharing of awe; "performance philosophy" in an age of collapsing boundaries and exponential creativity.
The director of the Imaginary Foundation described our work as “some kind of Ontological DJ'ing, recompiling the source code of western philosophy by mixing and mashing it up into a form of recombinant creativity, which (hopefully) elevates our understanding from the dry and prosaic, into the sensual and transcendent.”
“The goal is to prove a fresh framework and a new narrative to fill our old storytelling needs in our ever-increasing process of self-description

It Gets Better
a Visual Essay by Eli Guerron...
(play it full screen and with sound)
First off, I would like to thank you for watching this short film, entitled "It Gets Better."
This film is a visual poem, one that focuses on the hard times every single one of us has gone through in the process of discovering who we want to be, dry patches in the journey of finding out who it is we really are...
Isolation. Desolation. Courage. Endurance. And in the final moment, grasp of self-realization, represented in simple elements of visual design.
I have been working on this short for months, and one of the nicest moments I've experienced
was on 10/12/10, when I listened to Joel Burns give a speech encouraging those who suffer dire situations to remember one thing- "it gets better".
Listening to Joel, I realize that this film might not change the situation. It might not end suffering or change the mentality of the perpetrators, but what it CAN do is help the perpetrated to become stronger, arming them with a positive attitude and a resonant hope for the future.
I would like to thank Joel Burns for his inspiration, and to all our silent collaborators.
Please feel free to contact me at itgetsbetterfilm@gmail.com if you're interested in screenings,
or if you would like to get a higher version of this file for your own postings or sharing on your websites.
Remember to thank those who are still fighting, still strong, still walking that beautiful journey
and discovering themselves... As I leave, all I can say is, "It gets better"...
In the memory of those who are no longer at our sides, fighting for us... in our hearts.

THE INSPIRATION
The initial inspiration was to take graphic pixelated light sequencing and integrate it into a live-action modern dance piece. This ultimately translated into building a unique LED light grid that would serve as the primary light source for the talent below. Immediately, A narrative evolved: a creative soul searches for inspiration as he faces manifestations of his inner ghosts. The LED grid provided a captivating device to parallel the emotion while the dancers ultimately led the viewer through this unforgettable journey.
THE TREATMENT
The Creative Process: Our hero is going through an inner turmoil that manifests in a dramatic interaction with his demons and muses. This is ultimately a personification of the creative process - the dire search for inspiration and the clarity to propel. The three seductresses that descend upon him represent the various stages of his awakening. The first is doubt and indecision - represented by the REAPER. She challenges him and he is eventually is forced into submission as she envelopes him, enabling his insecurity. The second set of seductresses are twin GAZELLES who play a back and forth. They are the conflicting ideas that float in a the head of an artist as he tries to manifest his turmoil into inspired focus. The last seductress is the FIREBALL. She is the spark that lights the fire in the artist to create something beautiful. It is pure passion, a coming together of the artist and his muse.. Throughout this awakening process his clouded vision is purified by the lights above to usher in the physical and mental clarity of his inspired self.
THE LED GRID
LED Grid Build: Faced with the daunting task of building a unique LED light grid, the Black Swan team, along with lighting design team Embrace the Void, took to the skies in lifts to rig 169 LED lights to a grid. Every four to six bulbs were linked to a distro and decoder box that transmitted data to the LEDS corresponding the the lights.
Each Decoder needed to be properly linked, then run through a master box that was wired to an MBOX interface to run original LED sequences created by Munkowitz. The arduous process took two full days to wire properly and set up, but in the end was worth the effort.
LED Grid Illumination: The story, though abstract, is still an emotional one for our hero. In order to translate the movements of the dancers with the lights of the LED grid, original patterns were created by munko to parallel the movements. Over the course of weeks each individual light bulb was programmed, from color to luminosity, to create a visual tapestry that matched both the ebb and flow of the music.
Additionally, it added to the tension and release of the dancers and they explored the space and each other. Essentially LIGHT was the production design for our characters to explore, and their l
