'West behind Press TV reporter murder'
Insurgents in the Syrian capital Damascus have attacked Press TV staff, killing the Iranian English-language news network's correspondent Maya Naser, and injuring its Damascus Bureau Chief Hosein Mortada. Naser came under attack while reporting on air just hours ago. He was shot and killed by a sniper. Press TV and Al-Alam Damascus Bureau Chief Hosein Mortada also came under attack and was injured. The two were covering twin blasts in Damascus and the ensuing fighting. Born on July 30, 1979 in Syria, Maya Naser studied political science at KUPLAN University, NY, US. He was fluent in Arabic and English and had worked in many countries including the USA, Syria, Lebanon, Jordan, Egypt and Bahrain. The following is the text of what Hamid Reza Emadi, Press TV's News Room Director, had to say regarding the murder of a Press TV correspondent in Damascus.

Obama already set red line on Iran: Robert Naiman
US President Barack Obama says Israel's call for drawing red line over Iran's nuclear energy program is just "noise" he tries to ignore. Moreover, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said on September 10 that Washington is "not setting deadlines" for a diplomatic resolution of the dispute over Iran's nuclear energy program. However, in an exclusive interview with Press TV, Robert Naiman, policy director with Just Foreign Policy, tells us that the Obama administration has already set a red line over Iran's nuclear energy program.

US justifies terror to hit hostile states: Edward Peck
Placed on the US Terror Watch List for killing Americans; but then being supported and used by the US for years, the US is now to remove the MEK from its terrorist list. "What's significant about this is that this is a terror group that has spent millions of dollars in bribing various officials in the United States government at the highest levels. Public appearances on behalf of the MEK (Mujahideen-e Khalq) included the New York Mayor, Rudolph Giuliani, Pennsylvania Governor Edward Rendell and Obama advisor James L. Jones." - Ralph Schoenman, author and political commentator. "Sixteen prominent US officials who went to Paris for an MEK rally last month including Newt Gingrich, the former House Speaker and Republican president candidate... Over 100 US legislatures were paid millions of dollars and this is a criminal act, to bribe high-level public officials, openly in this case by a group that happens to be on the terror list, is a criminal act, and everyone of these top officials should be subject to imprisonment for taking bribes from such a group." - Ralph Schoenman, author and political commentator. According to Mr. Schoenman, the MKO or MEK is central to the official US campaign of terror, state terror, against Iran and against opponents of US imperialism in the region. Press TV has interviewed Edward Peck, former US Chief of Mission in Iraq, Washington to discuss the issue of this terror group being de-listed from the Terror Watch List.

IAEA approves Iran reform proposal: Iranian Envoy
Iran's Ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Ali Asghar Soltanieh says the agency has approved Iran's proposal on the necessity of reforms in the IAEA decision-making process. "The message was very clear... all members are attaching great importance to the necessity of improving the efficiency of the decision-making process," Soltanieh told Press TV after the 56th annual meeting of the IAEA members wrapped up in the Austrian capital, Vienna. The Iranian ambassador noted that Iran proposed the reforms based on the shortcomings and problems within the policymaking and decision-making system of the Agency, and the Board of Governors in particular. 'Anti-Islam film, blessing in disguise'
French Muslims have expressed their outrage over the publication of inflammatory cartoons insulting Islam's most revered figure, Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). The French Muslim Council (CFCM), the main Islamic body in France, on Wednesday accused satirical Parisian weekly Charlie Hebdo of firing up anti-Muslim sentiments at a sensitive time. The publication of crude caricatures of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) comes amid widespread outrage over a US-made film that insults Islam's holiest figure, and has sparked days of protests in the Arab world, Africa, Asia and some Western countries. Press TV has conducted an interview with Political Analyst Hanin Salem from London to more elaborate on the issue. Follow our Facebook on: www.facebook.com Follow our Twitter on: twitter.com

'Israel refusal to join NPT, inexcusable'
Egyptian President Mohamed Morsi has warned Israel over its saber-rattling against Iran and the obstructionism of Tel Aviv which is preventing the realization of a nuclear-free Middle East. The Middle East "no longer tolerates" any country's refusal to join the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT), "especially if this is coupled with irresponsible policies or arbitrary threats," Morsi said in his address at the 67th Session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Wednesday. The Egyptian leader was referring to Israel's policy of ambiguity about its military nuclear activities, which has helped it procure the Mideast's only nuclear arsenal. Press TV has interviewed Mr. Rick Rozoff, with the Center for Research on Globalization from Chicago, about the issue. Follow our Facebook on: www.facebook.com Follow our Twitter on: twitter.com

France bans all Muslims' political protests
After a French newspaper sparked global outrage by publishing obscene images of the Prophet Muhammad, the state decided to forbid all protests by Muslims - and their threats have worked. The protestors who expressed themselves were immediately arrested. Curiously, France is denying freedom of expression in order to defend the right to freedom of expression. The newspaper "Charlie Hebdo" is allowed to profit from a second printing of its scandalous cartoons, but Muslim political gatherings are banned to allegedly maintain order. Denying Muslims the right to protest automatically implies that they cannot protest peacefully, despite evidence to the contrary just last week in Paris. But the decision feeds into a common Western narrative of Muslims as people who need to be controlled. France averages 10 protests a day and this year only four have been banned. The nation's well-armed security forces have a lot of experience handling demonstrations so many believe that stopping the protests is a political decision and not out of concern that things could spiral out of control. 'Civil unrest over economy likely in US'
A new survey by the American Payroll Association has indicated that more than two-thirds of Americans are living paycheck to paycheck. The study also found that the results show Americans are still struggling with the recession's effects. Earlier this month, the US government said that a record number of 46.7 million people were enrolled for food stamps in June, showing a 173000-increase compared with May. Press TV has conducted an interview with Mark Thornton, a senior fellow at Ludwig von Mises Institute, from Alabama, to further discuss the issue.
