The United States Naval Special Warfare Development Group (NSWDG), or DEVGRU, is a U.S. Navy component of Joint Special Operations Command. It is often referred to as SEAL Team Six, the name of its predecessor which was officially disbanded in 1987. DEVGRU is administratively supported by Naval Special Warfare Command and operationally commanded by the Joint Special Operations Command. Most information concerning DEVGRU is classified and details of its activities are not usually commented on by either the White House or the Department of Defense. Despite the official name changes, "SEAL Team Six" remains the unit's widely recognized moniker. It is sometimes referred to in the U.S. media as a Special Mission Unit.
DEVGRU and its Army counterpart, Delta Force, are the United States military's primary counter-terrorism units. Although DEVGRU was created as a maritime counter-terrorism unit, it has become a multi-functional special operations unit with several roles that include high-risk personnel/hostage extractions and other specialized missions.
The Central Intelligence Agency's highly secretive Special Activities Division (SAD) and more specifically its elite Special Operations Group (SOG) often works with—and recruits—operators from DEVGRU. The combination of these units led ultimately to the killing of Al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden in Operation Neptune Spear

The Naval Special Operation Group is the smallest elite unit of the Philippine Navy trained in special operations, sabotage, psychological and unconventional warfare which is heavily influenced by the United States Navy SEALs. It specializes in SEa, Air, Land (SEAL) operations ranging from reconnaissance, close combat, demolition, intelligence and underwater operations in support of overall naval operations.
The unit gained prominence in a number of counter-terrorism operations, most notably against the Abu Sayyaf Group, and is known for its highly-demanding physical training program which is based on the United States Navy SEAL program. The NAVSOG training program is known as Basic Naval Special Operations Course.
It has eight units located across the Philippines. Each unit is attached either to a task force or a naval force and has a complement that varies from 3 to 6 SEAL Teams, with each team consisting of an officer and seven enlisted men. All team members "…are trained tactical divers, parachutists and demolitionists and in the execution of Special Warfare Operations from the Sea, Air and Land.” To become a qualified Philippine Navy SEAL, officers and enlisted men must successfully complete the six-month Basic Naval Special Warfare/SEAL Course

US Navy Special Warfare Combatant Craft (SWCC): The Navy SEALs Best Friend.
When SEALs want a fast river insertion/extraction, they call for the SWCC team.
The whole world knows about the elite SEALs. But not everyone knows about the people behind the scenes. The ones who take the SEALs to do their mission or picks them up after completing it. The Navy Special Warfare Combatant Craft(SWCC) are one of the ways SEALs can do their job. These specialized boat crews are part of the Special Operations community. SWCC (pronounced "swick") provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas called the literal zone where large ships cannot operate. Like their Navy SEAL counterparts, SWCC operators must be physically fit, mentally tough, highly motivated, focused and responsive in high stress situations.
SWCC operators conduct high priority missions in support of U.S. national objectives. SWCC operators specialize in small-unit tactics, giving them the ability to conduct military actions that are beyond the capability of conventional military forces. SWCC units often operate in concert with other Special Operations Forces. They are masters of maritime special operations. They use 2 boats primarily to conduct their missions, the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) and the Special Oparations Craft-Riverine (SOC-R)
The Naval Special Warfare RHIB is a high speed, high buoyancy, extreme weather craft with the primary mission of insertion and extraction of Navy SEALs from enemy beaches. The RIB is also used by SWCC operators to conduct boat and ship boarding operations on vessels manned by hostile and potentially hostile crews.
The SOC-R is a high speed boat with ample weapons and equipment capacity. This boat has the ability to operate in waterways that are located well inland. The capacity of the boat allows forces to conduct extended operations.
SWCC Mission
The exclusive mission of SWCC operators is to expertly drive and provide small-caliber gunfire support on specialized high-tech, high-speed, and low-profile Surface Combatant Craft to secretly infiltrate and exfiltrate Navy SEALs on Special Operations missions worldwide. These missions include Direct Action on land, sea, coastline or rivers (such as strikes, captures, and ship take downs by Visit, Board, Search and Seizure), Special Reconnaissance, Coastal Patrol and Interdiction of suspect ships and surface craft, Counterterrorism operations, Riverine Warfare, Deception Operations, Search and Rescue Operations, and Foreign Internal Defense missions (training foreign forces in the tactics, techniques and procedures of maritime and riverine patrols). SWCC may also support military and civilian law enforcement agencies.
Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, or SWCC, drive well-armed, fast boats in support of special operations missions on coasts and rivers including stealthy insertion and extraction of SEALs, clandestine reconnaissance and combat gunfire support. Using a variety of specialized boats and an aerial delivery system, SWCC operators are always ready to fight and support special operations forces anywhere in the world touched by water.

Special forces
Special forces and special operations forces are military units trained to perform unconventional missions. Special forces, as they would now be recognised, emerged in the early 20th century, with a significant growth in the field during the Second World War.

United States Naval Special Warfare Command
The United States Naval Special Warfare Command (NAVSPECWARCOM), also known as NSWC, was commissioned on April 16, 1987 at Naval Amphibious Base Coronado in San Diego, California. As the Naval component of United States Special Operations Command; Naval Special Warfare Command provides vision, leadership, doctrinal guidance, resources and oversight to ensure component maritime special operations forces are ready to meet the operational requirements of combatant commanders.
Background
Today's Naval Special Warfare operators can trace their origins to the Scouts and Raiders, Naval Combat Demolition Units, Office of Strategic Services Operational Swimmers, Underwater Demolition Teams, and Motor Torpedo Boat Squadrons of World War II. In the Vietnam era, the Navy drew most of its SEALs from the Underwater Demolition Teams; from the early 1960s up until 1983 the SEAL Teams and UDTs coexisted. Navy SEALs typically traced their origin to the Scouts and Raiders while the Underwater Demolition Teams traced theirs to the Navy Combat Demolition Units (the Navy drew its UDTs from NCDUs). However, in 1983 the Underwater Demolition Teams were merged with the SEAL Teams. This, in turn, merged their ancestry. While none of those early organizations have survived to present, their pioneering efforts in unconventional warfare are mirrored in the missions and professionalism of the present Naval Special Warfare warriors.

Special operations
Special operations (S.O.) are military operations that are "special" or unconventional and carried out by dedicated special forces units using unconventional methods and resources. Special operations may be performed independently of or in conjunction with conventional military operations. The primary goal is to achieve a political or military objective where a conventional force requirement does not exist or might adversely affect the overall strategic outcome. Special operations are usually conducted in a low-profile manner that aims to achieve the advantages of speed, surprise, and violence of action against an unsuspecting target. Candidates have to swim two miles and run 10 kilometers every day. Furthermore, they must swim 27 kilometers from Roxas Boulevard in Manila to Naval Station Sangley Point without any rest. They also undergo "Hell Week," which is the most demanding weeks of NAVSOG training. Candidates have to carry out demanding physical team events with their boat crews with as little as a couple of hours sleep for the entire week. In one BNSOC class, only 21 students remained from 79 applicants who originally started the NAVSOG training program.

The Navy Special Warfare Combatant Craft(SWCC) are one of the ways SEALs can do their job. These specialized boat crews are part of the Special Operations community. SWCC (pronounced "swick") provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas called the literal zone where large ships cannot operate. Like their Navy SEAL counterparts, SWCC operators must be physically fit, mentally tough, highly motivated, focused and responsive in high stress situations.
SWCC operators conduct high priority missions in support of U.S. national objectives. SWCC operators specialize in small-unit tactics, giving them the ability to conduct military actions that are beyond the capability of conventional military forces. SWCC units often operate in concert with other Special Operations Forces. They are masters of maritime special operations. They use 2 boats primarily to conduct their missions, the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) and the Special Oparations Craft-Riverine (SOC-R)
The Naval Special Warfare RHIB is a high speed, high buoyancy, extreme weather craft with the primary mission of insertion and extraction of Navy SEALs from enemy beaches. The RIB is also used by SWCC operators to conduct boat and ship boarding operations on vessels manned by hostile and potentially hostile crews.
The SOC-R is a high speed boat with ample weapons and equipment capacity. This boat has the ability to operate in waterways that are located well inland. The capacity of the boat allows forces to conduct extended operations.
SWCC Mission
The exclusive mission of SWCC operators is to expertly drive and provide small-caliber gunfire support on specialized high-tech, high-speed, and low-profile Surface Combatant Craft to secretly infiltrate and exfiltrate Navy SEALs on Special Operations missions worldwide. These missions include Direct Action on land, sea, coastline or rivers (such as strikes, captures, and ship take downs by Visit, Board, Search and Seizure), Special Reconnaissance, Coastal Patrol and Interdiction of suspect ships and surface craft, Counterterrorism operations, Riverine Warfare, Deception Operations, Search and Rescue Operations, and Foreign Internal Defense missions (training foreign forces in the tactics, techniques and procedures of maritime and riverine patrols). SWCC may also support military and civilian law enforcement agencies.
Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, or SWCC, drive well-armed, fast boats in support of special operations missions on coasts and rivers including stealthy insertion and extraction of SEALs, clandestine reconnaissance and combat gunfire support. Using a variety of specialized boats and an aerial delivery system, SWCC operators are always ready to fight and support special operations forces anywhere in the world touched by water.

When SEALs want a fast river insertion/extraction, they call for the SWCC team.
The whole world knows about the elite SEALs. But not everyone knows about the people behind the scenes. The ones who take the SEALs to do their mission or picks them up after completing it. The Navy Special Warfare Combatant Craft(SWCC) are one of the ways SEALs can do their job. These specialized boat crews are part of the Special Operations community. SWCC (pronounced "swick") provide dedicated, rapid mobility in shallow water areas called the literal zone where large ships cannot operate. Like their Navy SEAL counterparts, SWCC operators must be physically fit, mentally tough, highly motivated, focused and responsive in high stress situations.
SWCC operators conduct high priority missions in support of U.S. national objectives. SWCC operators specialize in small-unit tactics, giving them the ability to conduct military actions that are beyond the capability of conventional military forces. SWCC units often operate in concert with other Special Operations Forces. They are masters of maritime special operations. They use 2 boats primarily to conduct their missions, the Rigid Hull Inflatable Boat (RHIB) and the Special Oparations Craft-Riverine (SOC-R)
The Naval Special Warfare RHIB is a high speed, high buoyancy, extreme weather craft with the primary mission of insertion and extraction of Navy SEALs from enemy beaches. The RIB is also used by SWCC operators to conduct boat and ship boarding operations on vessels manned by hostile and potentially hostile crews.
The SOC-R is a high speed boat with ample weapons and equipment capacity. This boat has the ability to operate in waterways that are located well inland. The capacity of the boat allows forces to conduct extended operations.
SWCC Mission
The exclusive mission of SWCC operators is to expertly drive and provide small-caliber gunfire support on specialized high-tech, high-speed, and low-profile Surface Combatant Craft to secretly infiltrate and exfiltrate Navy SEALs on Special Operations missions worldwide. These missions include Direct Action on land, sea, coastline or rivers (such as strikes, captures, and ship take downs by Visit, Board, Search and Seizure), Special Reconnaissance, Coastal Patrol and Interdiction of suspect ships and surface craft, Counterterrorism operations, Riverine Warfare, Deception Operations, Search and Rescue Operations, and Foreign Internal Defense missions (training foreign forces in the tactics, techniques and procedures of maritime and riverine patrols). SWCC may also support military and civilian law enforcement agencies.
Special Warfare Combatant-craft Crewmen, or SWCC, drive well-armed, fast boats in support of special operations missions on coasts and rivers including stealthy insertion and extraction of SEALs, clandestine reconnaissance and combat gunfire support. Using a variety of specialized boats and an aerial delivery system, SWCC operators are always ready to fight and support special operations forces anywhere in the world touched by water.
