Vincent Montana, Jr. Conducts The MFSB Orchestra "TLC (Tender Lovin' Care)" (1987)
You are on stage, amongst the horn section, with the MFSB Orchestra as Vincent Montana, Jr. dedicates the performance of "TLC (Tender Lovin' Care)" to his dear friend and fellow MFSB member, Norman Harris, who passed away just 2 months earlier. "TLC" was written by Norman Harris & Bobby Martin and recorded by the MFSB in 1975. Norman Harris was a guitarist, producer, arranger and songwriter associated with Philly Soul. He was a founding member of MFSB and one-third of the production trio of Baker-Harris-Young. He produced First Choice, Loleatta Holloway, Eddie Holman, the MFSB, Love Committee, The Trammps and many more. Some of the main MFSB Members you'll see here: Earl Young (drums), Bobby Eli (guitar), Ronnie Baker (bass), Larry Washington (congas) Nick D'Amico (orchestra bells / percussion) and Montana in his element conducting. Linda Creed was a Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter who teamed up with Thom Bell to produce some of the most successful Philadelphia soul groups of the 70s. Some of her songwriting highlights: "You Are Everything", "Betcha by Golly, Wow" & "You Make Me Feel Brand New" (Stylistics), "Rubberband Man" & "Ghetto Child" (Spinners) and "The Greatest Love Of All" (George Benson / Whitney Houston), to name a few. Let's Party Down - MFSB (1978)
Let's Party Down - MFSB (1978)
Let's Party Down theme by MFSB. From the Album The Gamble - Huff Orchestra (1978). Short for "Mother Father Sister Brother"), MFSB was a pool of more than thirty studio musicians based at Philadelphias famed Sigma Sound Studios. They worked closely with the production team of Gamble & Huff and producer/arranger Thom Bell, and backed up such groups as Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes, OJays, Stylistics, Spinners, Wilson Picket, and Billy Paul. Assembled by record producers Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff, MFSB was the house band for their Philadelphia International Records label and originated the signature smooth "Philly sound" sound that dominated the early 1970s for the artists who recorded at the Sigma Sound Studios, including the O'Jays, the Spinners, the Bluenotes, The Delfonics, Blue Magic, Intruders, Three Degrees, Jerry Butler, and Teddy Pendergrass. Later in the decade the collective would become known for the "hi-hat"-dominated disco sounds that became pervasive in the late 1970s with groups like The Trammps, First Choice, Ripple and Double Exposure. It was the 1972 release of their first and official MFSB album titled "Poinciana" that put them on map. This marked the beginning of a sting of instrumental hits that brought major attention to a large orchestra who laid the foundation for the Sound of Philadelphia. The classic line up of musicians included Karl Chambers and Earl Young on drums; Norman Harris, Roland Chambers, Bobby Eli, and TJ Tindall on guitar; Winnie ...

"TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia)" by MFSB
"TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia)" by MFSB
"TSOP (The Sound Of Philadelphia)" by MFSB was in their self-titled album released in 1973. I slightly altered the pitch so that it is higher, the mp3 is at its original pitch. Hopefully this way I can dodge the WMG from not letting me post this up along with a few others I want to provide for you all. Anyway, I love this song. MFSB (short for "Mother Father Sister Brother") was a pool of more than thirty studio musicians based at Philadelphias famed Sigma Sound Studios. They worked closely with the production team of Gamble & Huff and arranger Thom Bell, and backed up such groups as Harold Melvin and The Bluenotes, OJays, Stylistics, Spinners, Wilson Picket, and Billy Paul. "TSOP (The Sound of Philadelphia)" is a 1974 hit recording by MFSB (Mother, Father, Sister, Brother) featuring vocals by The Three Degrees. A classic example of the Philadelphia soul genre, it was written by Kenneth Gamble and Leon Huff as the theme for the American musical television program Soul Train, which specialized in African-American musical performers. The single was released on the Philadelphia International label. www.megaupload.com
