Rolling in the Deep (Adele garage rock cover)
I wanted to do something a little different with a cover of Rolling in the Deep, since there's a lot of them out there, and mostly with acoustic guitar or keeping the same kind of arrangement as the original. So, I opted to do something that's very garage-rock feel, and I kept it very simple - piano, bass guitar with heaps of fuzz on it, and acoustic drums with a single room mic that's compressed all to hell (so yes, they're supposed to sound like that). This was all shot in my roommates' garage, who have about a zillion things lying everywhere, so while it's a mess, it's fairly photogenic. This was all shot with natural light or one light in the garage. We used a single light for one shot and that was it. Shot on a Canon t2i and a Panasonic Lumix GH1 with a variety of lenses. Video directed by Steve Flavin. Please enjoy the free download! Original as performed by Adele. All copyrights to EMI Publishing and UMPG Publishing.

Follow The Cribs: Facebook: www.facebook.com Twitter: www.twitter.com Official: www.thecribs.com Here's what the band had to say! "Hey everyone, So here's the video for our new single "Come On, Be A No-One"! Our good friend Patrick Stanton made this with us, while we were doing a short UK tour a couple of weeks ago....we usually hate making videos so this seemed like a good way of getting around all that extra nonsense that comes with the typical video shoot. Not good for self-conscious types like us. Anyway, we love it - no make-up, soft lighting, or posing - just some good rocking...or whatever. Check it out!" The Hard Times - I can't wait till Friday comes (GARAGE 60'S PUNK)
Top garage tune on Gray Ant. Released in 1966. Audio transfered from original 45. This song has been released on the Garage Punk Unknowns comp series. Here's a comment from original band founder Fuzzy Pricer: "I am Fuzzy Pricer, founder of the Hard Times in 1964. I wrote this tune in a freezing tent in Montana and it was recorded in a basement in Accokeek Maryland. The flip side, "Old Wine, New Bottles" was written on a bet; it's done entirely with only one chord. We still get together once in a while. Maybe I'll upload some recent video. Both tunes were intended to sound like Mick and the boys."

Ulver - Magic Hollow (from Childhood's End)
Promo video for Ulver's take on Beau Brummels' 'Magic Hollow' taken from the forthcoming album 'Childhood's End'. Directed by Justin Oakey.
Ulver: Childhood's End
Classic psychedelic tracks re-worked by Norwegian legends.
Early pioneers of Norwegian black metal, Ulver have continually evolved throughout their career and now stand as living legends of the 'dark' music industry, blending rock, electronic, industrial and symphonic traditions along with ambient soundscapes and experimental sounds to create groundbreaking material.
Last year they released the critically acclaimed War Of The Roses album which was described by Zero Tolerance as 'a beautiful record of startlingly powerful depth', and Mojo magazine elaborated 'Ulver's genre-weaving musical noir channels David Sylvian, the ghosts of Coil and Pink Floyd in sumptuous melancholy mode.'
They return with Childhood's End, a collection of classic - mostly obscure - psychedelic tracks recorded by the band over an extended period and a few different sessions; starting in late 2008 and ending in late 2011, 'this is the stuff that we sit at home and get stoked about' explains Kristoffer Rygg in a recent Kscope video interview.
He continues: 'I grew up with parents who were still listening to music from the time, so it informed my childhood, but it has became an ever increasing geeky sort of fetish since then.'
This passion for the Sixties' garage rock and psychedelia, and the countless underground gems that remain unknown to most, inspired the band to record their own interpretations of some of their favourite songs from the era. 'My feeling is that most people's knowledge sort of limits itself to The Doors,' says Rygg, 'The Doors were cool, but there was so much else going on… in the underground, records that got lost and didn't get as much recognition as they deserved in my opinion.'
With this is in mind Ulver hope that Childhood's End will introduce some of this music, and the artists who originally recorded them, to people who previously might not have experienced them, 'we want to be ambassadors for the things that we love and we sort of hope that we can open some gates with the record.'
The album includes Ulver's unique versions of tracks from The 13th Floor Elevators, Electric Prunes, Jefferson Airplane, The Pretty Things along with more obscure choices from Bonniwell’s Music Machine, United States of America and more.

The Vaselines - Sex With An X
Formed in Glasgow in 1987, The Vaselines released two singles and one album (Dum Dum on the 53rd and 3rd label) and then split up in 1989 (in the same week their album was released). They might have faded into obscurity but for the intervention of a certain band from Seattle. Nirvana covered three Vaselines songs, helping to fuel a growing after-the-fact appreciation of their seedy, two-and-a-half chord, garage pop manifesto. Founding members Eugene Kelly and Frances McKee remained musically active between then and now: the former with Captain America aka Eugenius and finally as a solo artist; McKee with Painkillers and Suckle. Eugene and Frances also collaborated intermittently in the intervening years and, in 2008, toured America (including a stand-out appearance at Sub Pop’s 20th anniversary festival, SP20), Brazil and Japan and played some UK festivals. The Vaselines “re-connected” with wildly appreciative audiences who had blinked and missed them the first time round. Buoyed by the success of their live return, the two punk rock chums decided to go back into the studio.
The new Vaselines album, Sex with an X, was recorded outside Manchester at the Analogue Catalogue studio in Mossley with Julie McLarnon engineering and produced by Jamie Watson (who also produced that first album Dum Dum). The Vaselines ca. 2010 is Eugene and Frances with guest musicians Stevie Jackson and Bob Kildea from Belle & Sebastian on guitar and bass, and Michael McGaughrin from the 1990s on drums. It may have taken The Vaselines 20 years to get round to making this baby, but it was worth the wait—bringing their solo careers to a climax. The irony has not been lost. Who says indie music can’t be fun? No hand-wringing on these tracks—just good clean smut with a twist of bitter. The Vaselines will tour the US in October, 2010.
If you are among the first 200 people to pre-order Sex with an X by September 14th, you’ll receive a bonus 7" featuring “White Chapel” b/w “Picked a Cherry”, demos both recorded by Norman Blake (Teenage Fanclub)—the latter not available on the new record.
