The Squamish people (Sḵwx̱wú7mesh 
listen) are an indigenous people of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. In 2012, there was population of 3,893 band members registered with the Squamish Nation. Their language is the Squamish language, considered a part of the Coast Salish languages, and is categorized as nearly extinct with just 10 fluent speakers as of 2010. The traditional territory covered Point Atkinson as the southern border. From here, it continued northward to Roberts Creek on the Sunshine Coast, up the Howe Sound. The northern part included the Squamish, Cheakamus, Elaho and Mamquam rivers. Up the Cheakamus River it included land past Whistler, British Columbia. The southern and eastern part of their territory includes Indian Arm, along Burrard Inlet, through False Creek then English Bay and Point Grey. Today the Squamish people live mostly in seven communities, located in West Vancouver, North Vancouver, and near the town of Squamish.

A short film of a trip I took from Vancouver to Squamish to go Kitesurfing. It's an hour drive to "The spit" with absolutely breath taking scenery the whole way up! The spit itself is great. Full jet ski cover encase you have any mishaps. Loads of thermal breeze filling in and the people are all very friendly. No matter what your ability is everyone is very patient and helpful. -

A short film of a trip I took from Vancouver to Squamish to go Kitesurfing. It's an hour drive to "The spit" with absolutely breath taking scenery the whole way up!
The spit itself is great. Full jet ski cover encase you have any mishaps. Loads of thermal breeze filling in and the people are all very friendly. No matter what your ability is everyone is very patient and helpful.

Organizers of the Squamish Valley Music Festival were caught off guard when the majority of campers showed up earlier than expected for the weekend event, leading to major traffic problems en route. The hours-long backup on the Sea to Sky Highway frustrated commuters and area residents, said Squamish Mayor Rob Kirkham ... If you only have a three-or four-day weekend though, it's time to scale back ... Another option is to take the Sea to Sky Highway up to Paradise Valley just past Squamish. Most people try to get in to Alice Lake, but it can be very busy. Check out the beautiful valley along the Squamish River instead ... Tip ... Most people will not want to spend that much time on the bike, especially if there are kids involved, so plan accordingly ... ....
