CBS WKBT News Anchor's On-Air Response to Viewer Calling Her Fat (Oct. 2nd, 2012)
IMPORTANT NOTE: Now that Ellen Degeneres has tweeted the link to my video upload, I will allow comments with approval only because this is by far getting out of hand. Even if you disagree with Jennifer Livingston, no one, I repeat NO ONE is entitled to call her any names regarding her weight! It's really a shame that something that started as a decent discussion turned into a mud fight. However it's great that my video upload made at least some of you reflect the still underrated issue of Bullying in the world and even though I'm located in Germany, I'd be thrilled if Ellen would invite Jennifer Livingston to her show (which I love by the way, both, Ellen and her awesome show!). Thank you! ♥ -------- WKBT anchor Jennifer Livingston took a moment during Tuesday's morning newscast (Oct. 2, 2012) to directly address a recent email she received from a viewer complaining about her weight. "To the person who wrote me that letter — do you think I don't know that? That your cruel words are pointing out something that I don't see?" Livingston asked in response. "You don't know me. You are not a friend of mine. You are not a part of my family. And you have admitted that you don't watch this show. So you know nothing about me but what you see on the outside. And I am much more than a number on the scale." Livingston went on to say that October is National Anti Bullying Month, and that she hopes her response to the email will serve to raise awareness of bullying behavior, which is ...

China watches US military buildup in Australia
On Wednesday, 200 US Marines arrived in Australia after President Obama announced in November of last year that the US will position Marines on the continent. The 200 Marines are the first of 2500 to go down under, and the agreement between President Obama and Prime Minister Julia Gillard marks the first long-term expansion of the US military in the area since the Vietnam War. We take a closer look at the arrival of the troops. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com

US Military Rifles since 1776
Please read before commenting: A very basic overview of some of the main US military rifles since the 18th century. We mainly look at the evolution of the technology in primary issue rifles or rifles similar to them that I happen to own. Since I chat unscripted without a leash for 35 minutes, you can imagine that I have a little clean-up to do. :-) I'll add needed correction here in the description below. I won't add much elaboration, as this is not meant to be a video about the entire history or everything about these specific firearms; it's more of a basics video, as I state at the beginning, to give folks something of a picture of the major stepping stones in military musket / rifle development through the last 200 + years. Some clarification or further BASIC information: 1. The Brown Bess is a smooth bore musket, like most shotgun barrels. I mistakenly call it a rifle in the video. I don't think I mention it, but the 1858 Enfield used in the Civil War has a rifled barrel, as do all the firearms on the table after the Brown Bess. 2. The tubular magazines of lever guns are not safe with pointed bullets. Think about it. :-) The 1895 Winchester lever gun solved this by not using the tubular magazine, but with most lever guns, we were limited to flatter-nosed bullets. The bolt gun, with rounds stacked on top of one another, allowed as sharp a point on the bullet as we wanted. 3, For some reason (Brain fade), I failed to show you how the Garand loads. Guess most of you have ...

US military build-up in Asia: 'Act of War'?
A day after laying out details of the Pentagon's new Asia-Pacific strategy, US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta visited Vietnam. On Saturday, he said the majority of America's warships will be deployed in the area by 2020. Stephen Lendman, American radio host and author talks to RT. He says Congress would surely call such a build-up of troops in American waters 'act of war'. US Military threatened by obesity
According to a report released by Mission Readiness, obesity is the most common edical reason that potential recruits are disqualified from service in US Army. The report titled "Still Too Fat To Serve" says increasing obesity could be a challenge to national security as fewer and fewer people are eligible to keep up with the physical demands of the service. Apparently Pentagon spends around a million dollars a year on medical care for weight-related health problems. To talk more about the obesity matter in US military, RT's Liz Wahl is joined by Katherine Mangu-Ward of the Reason. Like us and/or follow us: twitter.com www.facebook.com

SASHA GREY
“For my film portrait of Sasha Grey, I wanted to focus on her expressive and psychological transformation into a cinematic actor, separate from the cues that have associated Sasha with her previous career as a performance artist working within the adult film world.” –Richard Phillips
Shot on location at the John Lautner Chemosphere House off Mulholland Drive, the film showcases Sasha as a perpetually evolving figure. Costume designer Ellen Mirojnick (“Basic Instinct,” “Fatal Attraction,” “Wall Street,” “Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps”) dressed Sasha for the part in an array of lingerie and military inspired garments to highlight the dual nature of her masculine / feminine persona. Looking over the roadside from the vantage point of one the most legendary residences in modern and cinematic history, Sasha reflects on her relationship to the San Fernando Valley landscape- the location of some of her most noted adult performances. Back inside the circular vortex of the Chemosphere, Sasha's inner dialogue projects an equally diaristic and imaginary self-portrait that pushes beyond the extremes of her past filmography and into her new future.
“Sasha Grey,” along with Phillip’s first short film, “Lindsay Lohan,” will be included in "Commercial Break," presented by the Garage Center for Contemporary Culture, Venice, Italy, June 1 - 5, 2011, concurrent with the 54th international exhibition of the Venice Biennale.

A Richard Phillips Film
Directed by: Richard Phillips and Taylor Steele Director of Photography: Todd Heater Costume Designer: Ellen Mirojnick Creative Director: Dominic Sidhu Art Director: Kyra Griffin Editor: Haines Hall Color mastering: Pascal Dangin for Boxmotion Music: Chelsea Wolfe
About Richard Phillips
Phillips’ strikingly distinctive paintings are drawn from found imagery that deal with the marketability of man, his wishes, ideas, actions, identity, sexuality, politics, and desires. Images he translates into drawings and then paintings executed through a traditional process. In doing so, he makes use of the iconic quality of pictures, which the media and art use daily – each according to its own agenda. Perhaps more so than any other contemporary painter of his kind, Phillips’ imagery has achieved a level of pop recognition outside of the artworld with fashion, media and film collaborations, including Gossip Girl, MAC Cosmetics, The Art Production Fund, Visionaire, and a recent guest judge appearance on Bravo’s new TV series “Work of Art: The Next Great Artist”. Phillips’ most recent exhibition, Most Wanted at White Cube in London, features ten larger than life celebrity portraits set against red carpet step and repeat backdrops.
Born in Massachusetts in 1962, Richard Phillips lives and works in New York City. He has exhibited extensively throughout the U.S. and Europe including Gagosian Gallery, New York; the Kunsthalle Zürich; Le Consortium in Dijon; Max Hetzler, Berlin; and White Cube in London.

Theatre of War
Shot in Saddam Hussein's hilltop palace in the mountains overlooking the River Tigris, Theatre of War is a slow, virtually static video piece redolent of classical history painting. Audio was recorded at the official US military hand-over ceremony at the nearby city of Saniya. A mullah's prayer for unity among Arabs is spoken, after which the pan-Arab national anthem, Mawtini (My Homeland) is played, emphasizing Arab national solidarity and a pan-Arab territory. Made in Iraq in March 2009.

Fine is the story of birth, life and death of a soldier, represented on a hand (mine, for instance).
The movie is inspired by the concept of handpainting and the finger videos movement. Dedicated transitions created with the technique of the shuft pan has been used to create a true cinematografic editing through the hand.
both the initial and final soundtrack, as well as the military salute of the last scene are a hommage to Jiri Trnka's masterpiece "The Hand".

Neo-Nazi music flourishing in US
White supremacist and Neo Nazi rock music is flourishing worldwide. According to the Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks hate groups, music sales are a primary source of income for racist groups and a rich recruiting ground for new members. The SPLC says the number of hate groups it monitors has exploded to over one thousand in the years since Barack Obama's election. Al Jazeera's Rob Reynolds reports from Los Angeles.
