An Omnichord is an electronic musical instrument, introduced in 1981 and manufactured by the Suzuki Musical Instrument Corporation. It typically features a touch plate, and buttons for major, minor, and diminished chords. The most basic method of playing the instrument is to press the chord buttons and swipe the touch plate with a finger or guitar pick in imitation of strumming a stringed instrument.
The Omnichord is the technological successor to an earlier toy, known as the Tronichord, with which it shares many technical and functional similarities. Omnichords often feature preset rhythms with a tempo control which the player may use as accompaniment. Several models of the Omnichord were produced, which added MIDI compatibility, a selection of voices for the touch plate, effects such as vibrato and sustain, and chord memory. Some Omnichord musicians will play the instrument as a keytar, by strapping the instrument on both ends and playing it as if it were an electric guitar.
Originally designed as an electronic substitute for an autoharp, the Omnichord has become popular as a unique instrument in its own right, due to its unique, chiming timbre and its value as a kitsch object.
The Omnnichord is still produced by Suzuki, but rebadged as the QChord. It features more modern versions of the original Omnichord's features.

Jenny Omnichord
Jenny Mitchell, better known by the stage name Jenny Omnichord, is a Canadian indie rock musician. She has released three solo albums and an EP as a solo artist, and also records and performs with the bands The Barmitzvah Brothers and The Burning Hell.

On Cities of Gifts and Ghosts, Mitchell worked with a variety of influential Canadian record producers, including Don Kerr, Evan Gordon, Jim Guthrie, Bob Wiseman, Scott Merritt and Dave Clark. Collaborators on Charlotte or Otis: Duets for Children, Their Parents and Other People Too, her 2008 children's album, included Andy Magoffin, Wax Mannequin, Shad, Kim Barlow, Ida Nilsen, Old Man Luedecke and Tony Dekker of Great Lake Swimmers.
She is also known for distributing her albums in unconventional packaging. Cities of Gifts and Ghosts was released in handmade wooden cases, Charlotte or Otis featured a 20-page booklet of artwork inspired by the album's songs, and the vinyl edition of All Our Little Bones was released in a jacket which folds out into a playable board game inspired by a cross-Canada concert tour.

Mattias Olsson (musician)
Mattias Olsson (born 9 January 1975) started his career as a classical percussionist playing in orchestras and big bands on Ekerö outside of Stockholm. As a sideline to recording and producing bands Mattias Olsson writes articles (music related) for several Swedish Magazines.
Early life
He was born in Hong Kong to Swedish parents. When he was 17 he joined progressive rock band Änglagård. Änglagård recorded two studio albums, Hybris and Epilog. They also recorded a live album called Buried Alive. The title was a joke from Mattias, the worst title for a live album must be ...Buried Alive. He also did some sessions with White Willow and Pär Lindh.After Änglagård, he joined Swedish pop band Pineforest Crunch who have so far recorded three albums: Make Believe, Watergarden and Panamarenko. The band had a hit from the first album, "Cup Noodle Song". The single was a hit in Sweden and Japan and lead to intensive touring. The second album, Watergarden, was recorded in England with Radiohead producer Jim Warren. Watergarden mixed orchestral textures with mellotrons and experimental guitars. Parallel with Pineforest Crunch, he started playing drums and occasional keyboards with Reminder.
He has since then played in numerous projects and is now active as a record producer. He has recorded albums with Deadwood Forest, Devi, Clockwork, AK-momo, Nanook of the North, Vijaya and others.
Studio
Mattias Olsson runs his own studio outside of Stockholm called Roth Händle Studio. The studio started as a simple homestudio using a Akai Dps-12 and a handful microphones. This is where the swedish popband Andreas & Jag started recording three albums. Other bands that recorded at the homestudio was Pineforest Crunch and Nanook of the North. The first real location was at Finnboda Varv just outside of Stockholm. At this studio location bands like Kit le fever and Clockwork recorded early EPs. The Studio has a collection of musical artifacts including claviolines, pipe organs, Stylophones, Mellotrons, Orchestrons and Talentmakers.IN 2010 the location in Sundbyberg closed and the studio went into storage for a brief while. The fifth location of the Roth Händle studio will be located in Vällingby.

James Boyce
James "Jimmy" Boyce (September 6, 1947 – January 25, 1994) was a British Labour politician.
He was a member of Sheffield Council from 1984 and was elected Member of Parliament for Rotherham in 1992, but died less than 2 years later.
Personal
James Boyce was born in 1947 in Paisley, Scotland, the son of James and Nellie Boyce. He came to settle in Sheffield, meeting and marrying Patricia Morton and had two sons, Jimmy and Calum.Career
Boyce became involved in local politics through his father in-law, Alf Morton (who introduced him to the local Labour party). Boyce became involved in trade union activities while working in the then thriving steel works in Sheffield but, like many others, was made redundant in the early 1980s. He went on to study law at the then Sheffield Polytechnic but left during his second year. In 1984 he was elected as local councillor for the Burngreave ward in Sheffield. He was divorced in the late 80's and remarried in 1991.Health and death
On Christmas Eve 1993 he was put on the transplant waiting list for a new heart after what he thought was a respiratory problem. He turned out to be suffering from an enlarged heart. On Burns Night 1994 he suffered a fatal heart attack at home in his living room. Over 500 people attended his memorial service at which a speaker was the then Labour Party leader John Smith, who, coincidentally, would also die of a heart attack later that year.

The omnichord is capable of so much more than it tends to be used for but this is just me using the bare basics of the instrument. Normally I'd have used a more professional cadence at the end but this is really more a test video than anything. There will be more omnichord goodness to come! :)

Here is a Suzuki Omnichord, Model OM-27, introduced in 1981. I am playing an old Christmas carol (O Holy Night) to demonstrate how it works. Omnichord automatically plays the background music to your favorite songs by providing 27 major, minor or 7th chords that you select (hence the model number, OM-'27'). You can choose from six drum patterns or activate the walking bass line. This electronic harp can even be strummed like a guitar with the amazing 'Sonic Strings' touchplate. Just select a chord and run your fingers along the electronically charged touchplate. Omnichord produces 4 full octaves of your pre-selected chord. It produces sound through its built in speaker and internal amplifier. The Omnichord can be plugged into your own stereo sound system.

This is the second generation of the 1980's anaolg instrument. Later versions like the 200 or 300 have midi and memory features. The Omnichord is basically 3 instruments in one. There's the chord section (left hand) , the Drum section and the patented "Strum plate" (right hand). The Current digital model made by Suzuki is called Q-chord. This is an improvisation using some of the more lowbrow vintage instruments from the NeoKitsch Studio. Normally, the Omnichord 300 is used in the studio as a midi controller for other high end synths. This Omnichord is the OM27 model which was the first of its kind, and, as you can hear, it can produce some very interesting and dated sounds. NeoKitsch often likes to use glitch sounds and instruments, and in this particular experiment, a record player was used to create crackle noises. Jenny Omnichord - Do You Know Karate Ft. Tony Dekker
"Jenny Omnichord" is a solo side-project of 23 year-old Jenny Mitchell, vocalist, song-writer and multi-instrumentalist for Guelph, Ontarios noted young indie band The Barmitzvah Brothers. In fact, it was the purchase of an omnichord in Jennys fathers thrift store 8 years ago that set her along this path, its carnivalesque, slightly Hebraic sounds leading two young gentile girls to pick the somewhat ironic "Barmitzvah Brothers" as the name for their band. And while Jenny subsequently branched off into other instruments, among them bass and electric guitars, trumpet, banjo, and keyboards, it is the omnichord that has always remained her first love, a slightly geeky invention played by almost no one, capable of a myriad of sounds and effects, and for some reason scorned or unknown or ignored for almost all of its life. The Omnichord has now morphed into a smaller handheld device called a Q Chord. About the Turtles: The turtles fight in nature, it's part of their traits and what Baby Jesus planned for them to do.. These are in a sanctuary in a place 15 times the size of my Mobile Home And Lot.... Each one was HUGE!!! For some reason, they all liked to cluster together....and of course fight... My question is, if you're a turtle, who is slow, and has not much going on... do they fight for entertainment? And yes, they are Tortoises, but can you spell it? :)

Jolene Performs Music On A 1980 Electronic Omnichord!! Hi There Trailer Park Fans! Happy April Fools Day! I thought i'd make a fool out of myself, and post a little performance I did inside my Trailer Park Test Kitchen with my Omnichord. This song is completely my composition. I call it "Trailer Park Morning" I've had this for years, since the 1980's, and this is the exact sound it makes. Suzuki released a few different versions of them, mine is what was often used in elementary schools to teach music and note harmony. However, before the "Edit" police accuse me, the timing has been played with for artistic representation. It's not stereo, but it does make a big sound! It has a few different voices, and rhythyms. It has the major chords, and a strum pad that you see me using to the right. It uses 9 C Batteries! It's just something fun and silly I thought i'd share with you today! I hope you enjoy it! Quick little bit of OMNICHORD fun. Part Chord organ, part electronic touch harp, part analog Drum / Bass / Accompaniment. . . There's nothing quite like an OMNICHORD................................................................... The OMNICHORD re-arranges the touch harp's tuning scale according to which chord is played (Just like an AMSTRAD CKX100), thus making it impossible to play a discordant note........ Until now. :-) This is the original Analog Gold / Brown Omnichord from 1981. Now mega circuit bent....... 36 point touch bay, with new tones, pitch modulation, Fuzzy Distortion and loads of sonic cross-modulation with the bass / chord and drums. Digital cross-modulation around the chord generator chip gives a beautiful bubbley sci-fi style echo effect. A few new knobs to tweak the Analog drums (yes, in the UK we spell ANALOG without the extra U and E !). There's also Bass FM mod and some Discord, but my video camera died before having chance to film.....:-( Guess it'll have to wait 'till next time. Special thanks to Joker Nies, for sharing the schematics and datasheets...........:-)) Very cool.

It has chords, autokomp, rhythms a solo section and a electronic harp called Somic strings. It has been used by artists and producers like Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois. This Omnichord resides at Roth Händle Studios in Stockholm were it actually is used pretty often.
