Peter G. Klein

Peter G. Klein is Associate Professor of Applied Social Sciences and Director of the McQuinn Center for Entrepreneurial Leadership at the University of Missouri. He also holds positions at the University of Missouri's Truman School of Public Affairs and the Norwegian School of Economics.

Klein's research focuses on the economics of organization, entrepreneurship, and corporate strategy, with applications to diversification, innovation, food and agriculture, economic growth, and vertical coordination. He is author or editor of five books and over sixty articles, chapters, and reviews. His work has appeared in the Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Rand Journal of Economics, Organization Science, Journal of Law, Economics, and Organization, Journal of Management, Journal of Industrial Economics, Journal of Management Studies, Managerial and Decision Economics, Strategic Organization, and other professional and practitioner outlets. He is an Associate Editor of the Academy of Management Perspectives, an Associate Editor of the Independent Review, and sits on the Editorial Boards of six other academic journals. Recent courses include PhD courses in Entrepreneurship, the Economics of Institutions and Organizations, and Austrian Economics; MBA and MS courses in Business Economics, Change Management, and Network Economics; and undergraduate courses in Business Strategy and Managerial Economics.

Klein taught previously at the Olin School of Business, the University of California, Berkeley, the University of Georgia, and the Copenhagen Business School. During the 2000-01 academic year he was a Senior Economist with the Council of Economic Advisers. He holds a PhD in economics from the University of California, Berkeley and a BA in economics from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
