This classic stars "Woody" from Dating Dos and Don'ts -- a few years older, but just as out of touch with reality. As "Jack," he goes through this entire film being unbelievably polite, but the weird leer on his face makes you wonder what he's really thinking. Don't miss the soda shop populated by waitresses in Hans Brinker costumes(!), or the montage of adults thinking approvingly of Jack's behavior.

Step 1: Know the basics
As soon as you take your seat at the table, place your napkin in your lap and obey the basic rules: Sit up straight, keep your elbows off the table, don't begin eating until everyone has been served, chew with your mouth closed, and silence your cell phone.
Step 2: Act "well-bread"
Your bread plate is to your left. Place a chunk of butter on your plate—enough so that you don't have to keep dipping into the communal butter dish. Break off one bite-sized piece of bread at a time, buttering it just before eating it.
Step 3: Know what's yours
Take the water glass to the right of your plate. (Remember, the "DR" in "drink" stands for "drink right.") As courses arrive, use the utensil farthest from your plate first, and then work your way in.
Tip
If a spoon and fork are at the top of your plate, use them for dessert.
Step 4: Sip your soup
Eat soup by skimming your spoon along the surface of the broth, away from you. Then, bring it to your lips and sip it, without slurping, from the side. Should you find it excruciatingly hot, don't blow on it; simply wait for it to cool off. When you're done, rest the spoon on your plate. If the soup bowl came with a saucer, lay your spoon on it.
Tip
Never let a used utensil—including the handle—touch the table.
Step 5: Enjoy your salad days
Cut your salad if the leaves are too big. Just don't hack up the entire salad at once.
Step 6: Don't hold the salt hostage
If someone asks for the salt or pepper, hand it over immediately—even if you need to season your own food. Always hand over both, even if your dining companion only requests one.
Tip
Don't season your food without tasting it first. And don't over-season, especially at a business meal: It looks childish.
Step 7: Spit happens
Remove something from your mouth the same way it came in. You can remove an olive pit with your fingers, but a bone or piece of gristle should be daintily spit onto your fork and then placed on the edge of your plate.
Tip
Artichokes, crisp bacon, small fowl like quail and squab, strawberries, and shrimp served with a tail may be eaten with your fingers.
Step 8: Send the right signals
When you're finished eating, lay your utensils parallel, the tops pointing at 11 o'clock. If you're merely pausing, cross your knife and fork on your plate like an "X" with the knife on the right. If you excuse yourself from the table mid-meal, put your napkin on your chair. When you are ready to leave, place it on the left of your dinner plate.
Did You Know?
In Japan, slurping your soup is a sign of good manners—it shows your host that you are enjoying your food.

Lyrics:
You don't just leave a girl without a clue
Like it's up to you
You're coming back!
You don't just walk all over broken hearts
Tearing love apart
You're coming back!
You're coming back!
Manners! Take a second look and you'll see
There is no one like me
Manners! You better reconsider
Cause you will never do better
There is no one like me
You don't just walk away without a trace
You can tell it to my face
Cause you're coming back!
You don't just play around and get away
Hear me when I say
You're coming back!
Oh, you're coming back!
Manners! Take a second look and you'll see
There is no one like me
Manners! You better reconsider
Cause you will never do better
There is no one like me
There is no one like me
Take a second look and you'll see
There is no one like me
Manners! Take a second look and you'll see
There is no one like me
Manners! You better reconsider
Cause you will never do better
There is no one like me
There is no one like me

The Earth as You've Never Seen it Before: Atmosphere, Airglow and Aurora
A truly powerful image generates questions.
The incredible night photos and time-lapse movies NASA has been sharing with us provoke questions about our planet. That thin-yellow atmospheric line separating earth from space, for example, that we see in all of the night shots provokes two questions: (1) how thick is this line? and (2) why is this line colored the way it is?
The visible yellow and green/blue capped line represents atmosphere reaching ~100km above the surface of the earth. The colors are not reflected light, and not pollution, but rather are light generated from the components in the atmosphere itself. Yes, the atmosphere gives off its own light, in a chemiluminescent process called "airglow" or "night glow."
I have written a blog to accompany this video that explains the various colors of "Night Glow" and discusses the Aurora as well. I hope you find this blog a useful companion to understanding what you are seeing.

High Resolution images courtesy of The Gateway to Astronaut Photography of Earth. The Image Science & Analysis Laboratory, NASA Johnson Space Center:

In particular, NASA astronaut Don Pettit has filmed and provided the majority of the available time-lapses. He is one of the explorers that truly understands how important it is for explorers to share the wonder of their experiences through both art and science. May all future explorers follow his lead.
These images were imported into Adobe Lightroom, cropped, rotated, and slightly tweaked. I had two main goals with the edits done in the manner I did them. My first goal was to bring the viewer's attention to the atmospheric line by focusing the cropping to prominently feature the atmospheric line and the "Airglow." Secondly, most of the images we see of earth show the planet at the bottom of the frame and space at the top of the frame. To remind the viewer that, in space, the orientation by which you chose to view planets is up to the viewer, I took artistic license with these images to present different ways to view our planet's movement in space.

This film is dedicated to explorers who take pictures that make us ask questions.

Kanye West POWER by Marco Brambilla (Director's Cut)
POWER shows a continuous camera move from extreme close-up of Mr. West revealing an a neoclassical video tableau showing characters and creatures surrounding him in an abstract environment - all moving in extreme slow motion.
Inspired by Michelangelo's frescos in the Sistine Chapel, the piece depicts a faux historical moment - an empire on the brink of collapse from its own excess, decadence and corruption.

ARTJAIL Involvement.
ARTJAIL was involved in many aspects of this project, from pre-production to post and finishing, giving us a real understanding of what the Director's vision for the piece was.
First and foremost, he did not want to make a music video! He was interested in making an art piece, an experimental collaboration between two artists.
The conventions of traditional music videos should be completely forgotten. The focus should be on the art, the idea, the story being told, in the most direct manner possible. One continuous movement, representing one moment in time on the brink of collapse.

Children's Song. Manners and Character. Sung to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
Honesty, Kindness, Sharing, and Respect. Original song sung to the tune of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.
We should always say what's true,
Even when it's hard to do.
Honesty is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Tell the truth in all you say.
Trust and friends are built this way.
We should always be polite.
Being nicely, such delight.
Being kind is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Be polite in all you say,
Trust and friends are built this way.
We should always share our toys
With the other girls and boys.
Sharing toys is always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Share your toys with friends each day.
Trust and friends are built this way.
Show respect in all you do.
"Yes ma'am," "Yes sir," thank you too.
Show respect, it's always right,
Morning, afternoon, and night.
Show respect in all you say.
Trust and friends are built this way.
