Iranian Government and Russia
My question: "Iranian Shi'ite government under the leadership of President Ahmadinejad seems to be the only Muslim government in the world today that has a close relationship with the Eastern Orthodox Christianity ruling which is centered in Russia. However, most Sunni governments tend to have close ties with the Zionist Anglo-Judeo-Christian alliance which is centered in the United States of America and distancing themselves from making any ties with Russia. What are the factors that led to this occurrence?" This is an excerpt of a Question and Answer session of a public lecture given by Shaykh Imran Nazar Hosein entitled "The Shia, Sunni and Akhir Al-Zaman" on 9/06/2012 at Masjid Ubudiah, Shah Alam, Selangor, Malaysia. Full video lecture was originally uploaded by icemaker1990 channel. Shaykh Imran Nazar Hosein is an Islamic Scholar who was born in the Caribbean Island of Trinidad in 1942. He studied Islam at the Aleemiyah Institute of Islamic Studies, Karachi, Pakistan under the guidance of the distinguished Islamic scholar Shaykh, Maulana Dr. Muhammad Fazlur Rahman Ansari (1914-1974). He also studied Philosophy at the University of Karachi and International Relations at the University of the West Indies and at the Graduate Institute of International Studies, Geneva, Switzerland. Iran intensifies dress crackdown
The Iranian government has launched a crackdown against Western-style clothing. More than 70000 so-called "moral police" officers have been deployed in the capital Tehran, to enforce a government approved dress code. Women will be arrested if their headscarves do not fully cover their hair or their clothes show their figures too clearly. Men will be stopped for wearing necklaces or having hairstyles seen as inappropriate. Al Jazeera's Dorsa Jabbari reports from Tehran.

Ahmadinejad defends government performance in Majlis-Iran Today-03-16-2012
Mr. President, please be here at 8 am sharp; tomorrow's meeting has not been cancelled. That was the message the Iranian parliament gave Mr. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on the 13th of March 2012. 11 of the 79 MPs who drew up the questions for the president took back their signatures in the 11th hour. In the days leading up to the questioning, the parliament's pro-Ahmadinejad members said they wouldn't be at the meeting, hoping to delegitimize the proceedings. At 8 am on the 14th of March 90 chairs stood empty. That was enough for a point to be made, but not enough to derail the meeting. This was the parliament's 12th attempt to make this happen. All previous attempts failed for various reasons. One reason why some say the president shouldn't face questioning is because it would be the first time the parliament has summoned any president for this reason. Ahmadinejad is known for many things. Among his fans he's a man of the people, who has served the nation well. During his two terms he's traveled the length of breadth of the country, helping deprived areas and gaining a lot of support consequently. Some say such a president, shouldn't be the first to be questioned by parliament in this way. But not all Ahmadinejad's actions have been hailed by all and sundry. His financial decisions and his behavior on the political scene have caused outcry in parliament, the home of the people's representatives. The fact that a principlist president, is being called into question by a ...

Lying Iranian Government Distorts Morsi Speech - Inserts "Bahrain" for "Syria" in Translation رير الجزيرة عن تحريف التلفزيون الإيراني لكلمة مرسي.flvتق the simultaneous interpreter adapted Morsi's speech to fit in with the Iranian regime's rhetoric -- according to which Assad's regime in Syria should not be criticized. Iran's official TV network was creative in their protest against Morsi's statements on the bloodshed carried out by Assad's regime by simply refusing to translate his statements on the subject. Syria is Iran's ally. One website specializing in coverage of Iran's conservative media wrote that "in an unprecedented action, the interpreter falsified part of Morsi's speech declining to translate Morsi's severe attack on the Syrian president's regime." The Iranian interpreter translated Morsi's criticism of Assad's regime as statement's in support of Assad: "There is a crisis in Syria and we must support the ruling regime in Syria," he said, in complete contrast to Morsi's negative statements. He then went on to add: "It would be appropriate if reforms in Syria were renewed and that there is no external interference that is our stance." Some Iranian media published Morsi's distorted speech - namely Jahan News and Asriran sites which deliberately highlighted parts of the speech without referring to the most important statement concerning Morsi's stance on the situation in Syria. When Morsi went on to discuss events in Arab states where the Arab Spring played a part ...

Cyber war against Iran-Iran Today-06-15-2012
On the 28th of May 2012 Iran announced the most crippling computer virus ever written, had been detected on computers in Iranian government offices. Iran's Computer Emergency Response Team, MAHER, announced on its official website, that the Flame virus had been intercepted and its infection components posted on their page. A few days later, on June first, the New York Times published an article by David Sanger that blew the lid off a lot of secret information. It revealed just how evolved the US and Israel are in the global cyber war, especially when it comes to the to the cyber attacks against Iran. The article explained how US president Barack Obama ordered a covert cyber attack on Iran a few months after taking office. The article was the result of 18 months of research and information gathered from interviews with top current and former American, European and Israeli officials. The first wave of digital attacks against Iran happened during the presidency of George W. bush. They were codenamed "The Olympic Games". According to the participants in the program it was the first sustained use of cyber weapons. Since then the stuxnet virus has invaded systems at Iran's nuclear power plant, and now Flame. In this edition of the show we will be looking at the cyber war being waged as we speak. Iran's gold and currency markets-Iran Today-02-07-2012
www.presstv.com The dust is slowly settling after weeks of furious activity in Iran's gold and currency markets. When news hit of yet another round of sanctions on Iran's oil industry, and worse still, on Iran's central bank, panic ensued. The word on the street was that gold was going to spike, and the exchange rate for dollars and other foreign currencies was set to soar, and so the stampede ensued. People started buying up gold coins, the Iranian nation's favorite form of investment, and withdrawing large amounts of money from the bank to convert into dollars. Meanwhile the prices of Gold and foreign currencies did go on climbing at a terrific rate, spurred on by the increase in demand. Hoping to get rich quick, lots of people started buying dollars and selling them on, and those with a stockpile of Gold coins stashed away for a rainy day, started cashing in on their hoard. But what goes up must come down. The Iranian government finally stepped in and balanced things out. In a matter of hours prices fell, leaving many of those who gambled with their savings, a lot poorer. In this edition of the show we will be discussing the recent fluctuations in Iran's gold and currency market, and what has been done to counter the instability and put people's mind's at rest.

Iranian MPs: Government's subsidy pay increase illegal
Just as the Iranian government prepares itself to implement the second phase of its subsidy reform plan, lawmakers say that the time is not ripe for the action. Some of the MPs including Iran's parliament speaker Ali Larijani are concerned about a further increase in commodity prices that would make it difficult for the people to make ends meet after the Iranian New Year which has already started. Reports indicate that Mr. Larijani has issued a letter to the leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Khamenei asking for his opinion on the issue. Press TV's Amir Mehdi Kazemi reports from Tehran.

US hypocrisy on the Iranian nuclear program documentary (eng/farsi)
The nuclear program of Iran was launched in the 1950s with the help of the United States as part of the Atoms for Peace program. The participation of the United States and Western European governments in Iran's nuclear program continued until the 1979 Iranian Revolution that toppled the Shah of Iran. After the 1979 revolution, the Iranian government temporarily disbanded elements of the program, and then revived it with less Western assistance than during the pre-revolution era. Iran's nuclear program has included several research sites, two uranium mines, a research reactor, and uranium processing facilities that include three known uranium enrichment plants. After delays, Iran's first nuclear power plant, Bushehr I reactor was complete with major assistance of Russian government agency Rosatom and officially opened on 12 September 2011. Iran has announced that it is working on a new 360 MW nuclear power plant to be located in Darkhovin. Iran has also indicated that it will seek more medium-sized nuclear power plants and uranium mines in the future. In November 2011, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Board of Governors rebuked Iran following an IAEA report detailing how Iran had undertaken research and experiments geared to developing a nuclear weapons capability. For the first time, the IAEA report outlines, in depth, the country's detonator development, the multiple-point initiation of high explosives, and experiments involving nuclear payload integration ...

Iran's subway system
Traffic congestions, pollution and rapid population growth are all making life more difficult in megacities around the world. At the same time the facilities available to the public are attracting people living in smaller urban areas to migrate to big cities. With a growth in population, comes a growth in the size of the big cities and with it mayoral problems for the residents. Iran is country with the population of more than 75 million, most of whom living in big cities such as the capital Tehran, Mashhad, Isfahan, Tabriz and Shiraz. Every days millions commute between their homes and workplaces either inside those cities or outside using either public or private transportation. The influx of people during the morning and evening rush hour causes hour long traffic jams on city's streets and highways flowing in and out of them, resulting in heavy air pollution and a rise in fuel consumption, not to mention the inevitable waste of time. As people started to get to their destinations later and later and as the air pollution started to get worse, the Iranian government embarked on a plan to make it easier and cheaper for commuters to make their daily journeys. The plan included building tunnels, bridges, Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) lines and subway systems in Tehran and other big cities. This edition of the show focuses on the construction of the underground rapid transit system in Iran's big cities. Iran's economy under sanctions
Since the Islamic revolution, Iran has been sanctioned by the United States many times on various pretexts. At first Iran was denied goods it imported like spare parts for airplanes, but then the sanctions became more severe. Since 2006, six resolutions have been passed against Iran, resulting in five rounds of UN sanctions. In 2012, the United States froze all the property of Iran's central bank and other financial institutions in the US, and the European Union's oil embargo on Iran came into effect. The stated objective for all this was pressuring the Iranian government into halting its nuclear energy program. At the moment, the West's tactic is to target Iran's economy, so Iran implodes. And to do that it's trying to sabotage Iran's oil industry, which for the moment, Iran's economy relies on. Iran has, with every round of sanctions, tried to find ways to counter them, and ease the pressure on the people. To do this it has instigated radical change in different sectors. But how successful has Iran's efforts been? That's what we'll be discussing in this episode of Iran today. Watch this video on our website: www.presstv.ir

Should Africans support Iran in the face of western economic imperialism?
Kenya, Tanzania, Sierra Leone and a host of African nations have been threatened with sanctions if the import oil from Iran. Some of them rely on Iranian oil because of the flexibility in payment. In Tanzania, Iranian embassy and a shipping agent in Dubai had to assure the country that no Iranian ships have been re-flagged to dodge sanctions to import oil to the East African nation. Kenya has cancelled plans to import crude oil from Iran following threats of sanctions, an official at the Kenyan energy ministry has said. The outline deal signed last month was to import about 4 Million tonnes of oil from the Iranian National Oil Company. But the US embassy in Nairobi had warned it was important to cut revenue to the Iranian government. Watch this video on our website: www.presstv.ir
