God of Love is a 2010 American live action short film. The film's run time is approximately 18 minutes. It was written and directed by Luke Matheny, and produced by Gigi Dement, Ryan Silbert, and Stefanie Walmsley. The film was shot in black and white on the Red One camera by director of photography Bobby Webster.
In the film, a lounge singer and championship dart player named Raymond Goodfellow is desperately in love with a fellow band-mate, but she only has love for his best friend. The crooner prays daily to God for a way for his beloved to fall in love with him. One evening, his prayers are answered when he's given a box of magical darts with Cupid-like powers. Raymond decides to use the darts to make his own love connection.
The film is included as a special feature in the Blu-ray release of 127 Hours.
Raymond Goodfellow rides on a country road on his motor scooter. His voice over explains, “You can’t control who you love. You can't control who loves you. You can't control where it happens, or when it happens, or why it happens. You can't control any of that stuff.”
God of Love is the sixth full-length studio album by the hardcore punk pioneers Bad Brains. It is the first Bad Brains album since 1989 with the band's original lineup. It was released in 1995 on Maverick Records, after the band was signed to the label by Madonna.
The release contains more reggae than any other Bad Brains album, although the heavy title track received video airplay on MTV. Backed by huge promotion from the label and an opening slot on the Beastie Boys Ill Communication tour, the band fell apart as the volatile singer, H.R., was arrested in several instances involving beating a skinhead, a security guard, and the band's manager in separate incidents throughout the tour. The band missed a performance at Madison Square Garden with Beastie Boys due to H.R.'s behavior, leading to yet another breakup. The band later reunited in 1997.
This album was re-released on record store day April 16, 2011, as nonly 2,000 copies along with a 7".
Charles "Buddy" Montgomery (January 30, 1930, Indianapolis, Indiana – May 14, 2009) was an American jazz vibraphonist and pianist. He was the younger brother of Wes and Monk Montgomery. He and brother Monk formed The Mastersounds in the late 1950s and produced ten recordings. When The Mastersounds disbanded, Monk and Buddy joined their brother Wes on a number of Montgomery Brothers recordings, which were arranged by Buddy. They toured together in 1968, and it was in the middle of that tour that Wes died. Buddy continued to compose, arrange, perform, produce, teach and record, producing nine recordings as a leader.
Buddy first played professionally in 1948; in 1949 he played with Big Joe Turner and soon afterwards with Slide Hampton. After a period in the Army, where he had his own quartet, he joined The Mastersounds as a vibraphonist with his brother Monk, pianist Richie Crabtree and drummer Benny Barth in 1957. He led the "Montgomery-Johnson Quintet" with saxophonist Alonzo "Pookie" Johnson from 1955 to 1957. His earliest sessions as a leader are from the late 1950s. He played briefly with Miles Davis in 1960. After Wes Montgomery’s death in 1968, Buddy became active as a jazz educator and advocate. He founded organizations in Milwaukee, where he lived from 1969 to 1982; and Oakland, California, where he lived for most of the 1980s, that offered jazz classes and presented free concerts.
As I stand here in your shadow
Waiting for you to move so I can see out the window
I wanna watch the children play
See another little girl fall and run away
And I'll never understand
The way that you play with me
You were almost heaven, an angel from above
But you're not a god of love, I know
You were almost heaven, the way I'm dreaming of
But you're not a god of love, I know
And you're not the one for me
You always seem to laugh
When I'm not joking and I'm not joking anymore
And we don't communicate
So I spoke with fate and it's just too late
You were almost heaven, an angel from above
But you're not a god of love
And you were almost heaven, the way I'm dreaming of
But you're not a god of love, [Incomprehensible]
And you're not the God of me
I, I will give you up, I
You were almost heaven, an angel from above
But you're not a god of love, no, no
You were almost heaven, the way I'm dreaming of
But you're not a god of love, no, no
And you're not the one for me
You were almost heaven
(Like an angel)
You're not a god of love
([Incomprehensible] from me)
You were almost heaven
(But you're not a god of love)
