Ariane 5 ECA Launch with ArabSat 5A & COMS-1
June 26, 2010 - Kourou Space Center. Arianespace stepped up its 2010 launch pace with tonight's successful dual-passenger Ariane 5 mission, which lofted payloads for the Middle East and South Korea. Lifting off from the Spaceport's ELA-3 launch facility in French Guiana, the Ariane 5 ECA placed Arabsat-5A and COMS into geostationary transfer orbits -- providing a payload delivery performance of approximately 7400 kg. "This launch is the 37th consecutive success for our Ariane 5 launcher, and it clearly demonstrates our policy of quality — which is exactly what you — our customers expect, and I thank you for the confidence you have always shown for us," Arianespace Chairman & CEO Jean-Yves Le Gall said in comments from the Spaceport's Jupiter mission control room. He noted that Arianespace maintains a strong backlog of satellites to be orbited, which has been further expanded with additional contracts concluded so far this year. "Since the creation of our company 30 years ago, we have successfully launched 281 satellites," Le Gall said. "And this will continue, as our order book today has 34 satellites for launch to geostationary orbit, along with six Ariane 5 missions with the Automated Transfer Vehicle, and 17 launches to be performed by Soyuz. And since the beginning of 2010, we already have signed nine new contracts -- the latest of which is with the Argentinean operator Arsat, which I am announcing today as a new contract." Ariane 5 Blast Off at sunset with ArabSat-5C & SES-2/CHIRP
September 21, 2011 - Kourou Space Center. Telecommunications satellites for two key Arianespace customers were launched tonight on the company's fifth Ariane 5 flight of 2011, extending the heavy-lift workhorse's string of consecutive successes to 46. Delivering a total payload lift performance of approximately 8975 kg., the mission lofted Arabsat-5C for the Arab Satellite Communications Organization (Arabsat) and SES-2, which will be utilized by Europe's SES. Arabsat-5C was deployed first, separating from Ariane 5 at 27 minutes after liftoff, followed eight minutes later by SES-2. Once positioned at Arabsat's 20 deg. East orbital location, Arabsat-5C will deliver capacity in both the C- and Ka-bands for a range of communications services. The spacecraft was manufactured in a joint effort by Europe's EADS Astrium and Thales Alenia Space.

Ariane V195 Rocket Launches Arabsat-5A and COMS Satellites
Lifting off from the Spaceport's ELA-3 launch facility in French Guiana, the Ariane 5 ECA placed Arabsat-5A and COMS into geostationary transfer orbits -- providing a payload delivery performance of approximately 7400 kg. During tonight's launch, the Arabsat-5A satellite was deployed first during the flight sequence, being released from atop Ariane 5's payload "stack" at 26 min. into the mission. Produced by Astrium and Thales Alenia Space on a turnkey contract for the Arabsat telecommunications operator, the satellite had a mass at liftoff of about 4940 kg. The COMS satellite passenger was separated from Ariane 5 at 32 min. into tonight's flight, completing this second heavy-lift mission of 2010. The multi-purpose COMS spacecraft for South Korea's KARI (Korea Aerospace Research Institute) is fitted with three payloads for meteorological observation, ocean surveillance and experimental broadband multimedia communications services.

Syria - NileSat and ArabSat Cuts Broadcast of Syrian Satellite Channels 05-09-2012
NileSat Company stopped broadcasting the Syrian satellite channels in a unilateral procedure unjustifiably violating terms of the contract signed with the Company and the Media Code of Ethics, Ministry of Information said on Wednesday. This procedure contradicts principles of media work in an unacceptable and blatant way within the framework of the campaign targeting Syria, the statement added. The Ministry stressed its condemnation of this violation and considered it as direct evidence on its administrators' bias to the side of the plot launched against the Syrian state and people, adding that this behavior serves the Zionist scheme. The Ministry called upon the NileSat Satellite Company to refrain from its behavior and adhere to the legal regulations in this regard. The Ministry added that you can watch the Syrian channels on the following frequencies: the Syrian TV Satellite Channel frequencies on NileSat 11680 horizontal and 12054 vertical on Arabsat, the Syrian al-Ikhbariya TV Channel on the alternative frequencies on NileSat 11390 vertical and 12092 vertical on Arabsat and Addounia TV on NileSat 10921 vertical.

Proton-M / Breeze-M Launch with BADR-5 (ArabSat-5B)
June 3, 2010 - Baikonur Cosmodrome. International Launch Services (ILS), a leading launch services provider for the global commercial satellite industry, successfully carried the BADR-5 satellite to geosynchronous transfer orbit today on an ILS Proton for Arabsat of Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Arabsat is the largest satellite operator in the Middle East and North Africa and has been ranked the ninth largest satellite operator in the world. This was the fourth ILS Proton launch and the 6th overall Proton launch this year. The BADR-5 satellite, built by EADS Astrium and Thales Alenia Space, was also the 23nd consecutive successful Proton launch in 23 months. The ILS Proton Breeze M launched from Pad 39 at the Cosmodrome at 4:00 am today local time (6:00 pm EDT, 11:00 pm GMT). After a nine-hour, 13-minute mission, the Breeze M successfully released the BADR-5 satellite, weighing 5420 kg, into geosynchronous transfer orbit. This was the 357th launch for Proton since its inaugural flight in 1965, and the 60th ILS Proton launch overall. The Proton Breeze M launch vehicle was developed and built by Khrunichev Research and Production Space Center of Moscow, one of the pillars of the Russian space industry and the majority shareholder in ILS. The BADR-5 satellite was built on Astrium's E3000 platform with a Thales Alenia Space supplied communications payload. BADR-5 will be collocated with the BADR-4 and BADR-6 Direct-to-Home satellites at Arabsat's 26 degrees East longitude video "hot <b>...</b>
