The History of Palestine
History of Palestine Zionism arrived in Palestine in the late 19th as a colonialist movement motivated by national impulses. The colonisation of Palestine fitted well the interests and policies of the British Empire on the eve of the First World War. With the backing of Britain, the colonisation project expanded, and became a solid presence on the land after the war and with the establishment of the British mandate in Palestine (which lasted between 1918 and 1948). While this consolidation took place, the indigenous society underwent, like other societies in the rest of the Arab world, a steady process of establishing a national identity. But with one difference. While the rest of the Arab world was shaping its political identity through the struggle against European colonialism, in Palestine nationalism meant asserting your collective identity against both an exploitative British colonialism and expansionist Zionism. Thus, the conflict with Zionism was an additional burden. The pro-Zionist policy of the British mandate there naturally strained the relationship between Britain and the local Palestinian society. This climaxed in a revolt in 1936 against both London and the expanding Zionist colonisation project. The revolt, which lasted for three years, failed to sway the British mandate from a policy it had already decided upon in 1917. The British foreign secretary, Lord Balfour, had promised the Zionist leaders that Britain would help the movement to build a homeland ...

Humiliation: Israel's harsh restrictions on Palestinian prayer
With the holy month of Ramadan drawing to a close - Muslims around the world are flocking to mosques to celebrate. Renegade Jewish Settlers - Israel/Palestine
For downloads and more information visit: www.journeyman.tv Ranging from plywood shacks to large suburban housing complexes, 300000 Israeli settlers now occupy outposts along Palestine's West Bank, increasing tension and grinding the two-state solution to a halt. "Jewish people have been here for 5000 years. We were given the opportunity to come back," one settler states. Originally a temporary occupation of Palestinian territories, illegal Jewish squatting outposts are on the rise, causing the fragile peace process to grind to a halt. At a thriving "counter-terrorism" shooting range, Jewish settlers can easily get their hands on guns, unlike their Palestinian neighbours. "We've got to be alert: Arabs infiltrate our settlements to steal and get information." As tensions escalate, the stand-off looks unlikely to change. "Settlers have learned that if they squat a site long enough, Israel will give them its approval, its infrastructure and its security." VBS.tv

Young Blood: Palestine youth suffers from Israel brutality
Over 15-hundred Palestinian prisoners are stepping up their month-long hunger strike in protest against detention without charge in Israeli jails. Debunking the Palestine Lie
Learn more here: tinyurl.com Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas has launched an international campaign to achieve recognition by the United Nations for an independent Palestinian state. Abbas and his international supporters claim that only Israel (with the United States) stands in the way of this act of historical justice, which would finally bring about peace in the Middle East. This video debunks the Palestinians' claim and shows that Abbas has been lying about the origins and history of the conflict. Palestinian leaders have rejected partition plans that would have given them much more land for their independent state than the Jews were offered for theirs. Rather than being the innocent victims of a "dispossession" at the hands of the Israelis, the Palestinians rejected reasonable compromises and instead pursued their aim of getting rid of the only Jewish state in the world. Palestinian refugees escape Syria violence
The UN Relief and Works Agency have said there are around half a million Palestinians in Syria - who over the decades fled wars involving Israel. It says 1000 left their homes in July, but that number has risen now to 3000 as fighting intensifies in the capital. As fighting continues in Syria many Palestinian refugees caught in the crossfire are fleeing across the border to Lebanon. However, they are largely unwanted in Lebanon, which itself is already home to more than 400000 Palestinian refugees. Al Jazeera's James Bays reports from Bekaa Valley, Lebanon.

Palestinian Olympic team given warm welcome at London city hall
The Palestinian Olympic team received a warm welcome at the city hall, the London mayor office. About 60 people greeted the five Palestinian athletes who made it to London for the 2012 Games. Only one of them reached the qualifying standards. Abu Rmeileh, a 28 years old Judoka, made history as the first ever to qualify for the world biggest sporting event. Abu Rmeileh will be carrying the hope of his people and the Palestinian flag at the opening ceremony. "I am proud to fly high the Palestinian flag during the ceremony, this is an affirmation that we Palestinians exist and hope our state will be one day as other sovereign states around the world." The other four athletes will be competing by invitation from the international Olympic committee. Baha Alfarra will be running the 400 meters; he seeks to improve his personal record by at least two seconds despite the difficulties that all athletes faced during their preparations to the London Games. Bah sees the participation of Palestine in this big event as an achievement in its self even though it has been difficult for people in Gaza and Palestine in general. Waroud Salwalha is a track athlete competing in the 800 meters; she is the first female to represent Palestine in this category wearing a headscarf in the Games. Waroud is hoping to be an example to all Muslim women that they can still practice sport wearing a hijab. In swimming Sabine Hazboune and Ahmed Gebril will represent Palestine in 50 meters freestyle. Romney Palestine Culture Flip-Flop
"...Monday he [Mitt Romney] gave a speech in which he very clearly said that Israel's economic success relative to the Palestinians came down to "culture." It turns out, we later learn, that he said exactly this in a 2010 book. So it's not something that just flew out of his mouth. Tuesday morning, he sat down for an interview with Fox's Carl Cameron, who actually asked him tough questions about it. Romney then, as we know, denied that he'd spoken of culture!..".* Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz discuss on The Young Turks. *Read more here from Michael Tomasky in The Daily Beast: www.thedailybeast.com Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: twitter.com Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

Pro-Palestinian Ads Ignite Firestorm Of Controversy
A seemingly endless debate over politics, religion and territory is coming to a train station near you. An explosive ad about Israel is now igniting a firestorm of controversy. The display shows shrinking Palestinian territory in Israel over the years and refers to 4.7 million Palestinians there as refugees. The ads are appearing in 50 Metro-North stations. At the train station in White Plains, the politically-charged ad was raising eyebrows. "That's quite amazing if you ask me," one man told CBS 2′s Scott Rapoport. Some Jewish leaders said they were concerned. "I think the ad is very offensive, it's certainly offensive to Jews," said Dovid Efune, the the editor of the Jewish newspaper "The Algemeiner." Efune said the ad is anti-Semitic. "It paints Jews as aggressors, as imperialists, as people that are stealing or taking land from others," Efune said. Henry Clifford, the chairman of a group called the Committee for Peace in Israel and Palestine, spent $25000 of his own money on the ads. "The Palestinian people have lost most of their homeland and the map shows exactly what is happened to them," Clifford said. When asked what he hopes to get out of the ad campaign, Clifford responded by saying he wants to "educate people." "Simply to open their eyes and let them see what has happened on the map," he said. The advertisements have caught the eye of commuters in White Plains as well. "I thought it was all settled back in the 1970s with the 6 Day War," one man responded. "My ...

Palestinian villages face demolition to create IDF training ground
"Israel's ministry of defence has rejected an appeal to save eight West Bank Palestinian villages in the southern Hebron hills that are slated for demolition to make way for an Israeli Defence Forces (IDF) training ground. Defence minister Ehud Barak reiterated to Israel's high court on Sunday the state's position that the Palestinian villagers are not full-time residents of the land and should be removed to the nearby town of Yatta. They would be allowed to return to tend their land and graze sheep at weekends, Jewish holidays and two one- month stints every year when soldiers do not train...".* Cenk Uygur and Ben Mankiewicz discuss on The Young Turks. *Read more here from Phoebe Greenwood in The Guardian: www.guardian.co.uk Support The Young Turks by Subscribing bit.ly Like Us on Facebook: www.fb.com Follow Us on Twitter: twitter.com Buy TYT Merch: theyoungturks.spreadshirt.com Find out how to watch The Young Turks on Current by clicking here: www.current.com

A road trip straight through Israel. Had no idea what the complexities and diversity of the cultures were, but I got deeper and deeper, seeing all walks of life living together in this amazing land. The conglomerate of things happening in that tiny, but EPIC country (it's smaller than New Jersey!) packed a punch like a bustling beehive. I was overwhelmed and totally let Israel envelope me. I bonded with every flavor of person there... they were all Israeli. They were all beautiful people. (By the way, the title isn't spelled wrong, lol...read it again ;)
Shot with the 7D and edited with Sony Vegas
I edited this video with a fever, kidney infection, and $4 headphones! LOL.

Gaza Crime and Punishment - Israel/Palestine
Will April 17 talks go ahead? To see more go to www.youtube.com Follow us on Facebook (goo.gl or Twitter (www.twitter.com A rare view of the Gaza strip today. Life under the authoritarian rule of Hamas remains dominated by the organisations friction with Fatah and Hamas' strict policies on how the sexes interact. Life under Hamas is a strange mix of overt security and no security. The streets are safe and prisons bursting at the seams but a man and a women cannot go to a restaurant together unless they are related or married. "You can be sitting in a restaurant when Hamas comes and starts asking boys and girls about their relationships". Since coming to power in 2006 Hamas has clamped down on sexual politics & crime. Drug dealers can be hung and women sent to prison for having a child out of wedlock. A drug epidemic is an unforeseen result of the tunnels under the border between Gaza and Egypt. And there is little political freedom. Hamas is accused of unfairly targeting Fatah supporters, who are kept strictly in line. "I will keep fighting them until the last seconds of my life", says one female activist. April 2012

Palestinian Authority considers trial of Israel for terrorism
The Palestinian Authority is now considering taking Israel to International courts to try them for consistent crimes against the human rights of Palestinians. If the plan goes ahead they will try them in International courts of states which allow the trial of foreigners. The Palestinian Authority noted that they would undergo diplomatic efforts through first informing the Quartet, the United Nations and the European Union about the violations at the hands of the settlers against unarmed Palestinians. The Palestinian Authority stated that they will hold Israel responsible for these violations, whether individuals or representatives of the Israel including the Israeli army, who as an occupying force are under international obligations to protect Palestinians and not propagate these continuous attacks. "The Palestinian Authority is now considering the prosecution of Israeli leaders in International Courts although they face many hurdles which includes the Oslo agreement not allowing Palestine to take Israel to international courts to hold them accountable for their crimes.
