i/kælɨˈfɔrnjə/) is a state located on the West Coast of the United States. It is by far the most populous U.S. state, and the third most extensive (after Alaska and Texas). It is home to the nation's second- and sixth-largest census statistical areas (Los Angeles Metropolitan Area and San Francisco Bay Area), and eight of the nation's fifty most populated cities (Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, San Francisco, Fresno, Sacramento, Long Beach and Oakland). Aimee Mann (born September 8, 1960) is an American rock singer-songwriter, guitarist and bassist.
Aimee Mann grew up in Bon Air, Virginia, graduated from Open High School (Richmond, Virginia) in 1978 and attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, but dropped out to sing with her first punk rock band, the Young Snakes.[citation needed] The band released the EP Bark Along with the Young Snakes in 1982, and a compilation album was issued in 2004.
In 1983, she co-founded with Berklee classmate and boyfriend Michael Hausman the new wave band 'Til Tuesday, which achieved success in 1985 with its first album, Voices Carry. The title song is said to be inspired by Hausman and Mann's breakup. The video became an MTV staple, winning the MTV Video Music Award for Best New Artist. Mann was featured on the Rush song "Time Stand Still" (from Hold Your Fire, 1987) which hit #3 on the American rock charts and became a minor UK hit, singing backup vocals and appearing in the music video. Her laughter is also heard at the start of "Force Ten," from the same album. With Mann playing an increasingly important role in songwriting, 'Til Tuesday released two more albums, Welcome Home and Everything's Different Now. Shortly after the release of Welcome Home, Mann told a writer for Nine-O-One Network Magazine that she was much more pleased with it than "Voices Carry", primarily because she felt it made more of a personal statement about her life. On their final tour, musician Jon Brion joined the band, which broke up in 1990 when Mann left to start her solo career.

Eileen Ryan (born October 16, 1928) is an American actress who has appeared in a number of movies and TV series. She is the widow of actor and director Leo Penn, and mother of singer Michael Penn and actors Sean Penn and the late Chris Penn.
Ryan was born Eileen Annucci in New York City, the daughter of Rose Isabel (née Ryan), a nurse, and Amerigo Giuseppe Annucci, a dentist. Ryan's mother was an Irish American native of Plattsburgh, New York, and her father was Italian American.
She was married to Leo Penn, an actor and active union member, who was once blacklisted, from 1957 until his death in 1998. Ryan appeared with her sons Sean and Chris in the 1986 film At Close Range, as their grandmother. She also made a memorable appearance in The Crossing Guard, which Sean directed. While Madonna was married to Sean, she told the press "My mother-in-law is the only woman I've ever met whom I find truly intimidating."

Gertrude Berg
Gertrude Berg (October 3, 1898 – September 14, 1966) was an American actress and screenwriter. A pioneer of classic radio, she was one of the first women to create, write, produce and star in a long-running hit when she premiered her serial comedy-drama The Rise of the Goldbergs (1929), later known as The Goldbergs.
Berg was born Tilly Edelstein in 1898 in Harlem, and attended public schools. She married Lewis Berg in 1918; they had two children, Cherney (1922–2003) and Harriet (1926–2003). She learned theater while producing skits at her father's Catskills Mountains resort in Fleischmanns, New York.
After the sugar factory her husband worked at burned down, she developed a semi-autobiographical skit, portraying a Jewish family in the New York tenements, into a radio show. Though the household had a typewriter, Berg wrote her script by hand, taking the pages this way to a long-awaited appointment at NBC. When the executive she was meeting with protested that he could not read what Berg had written, she read the script aloud to him. Her performance not only sold the idea for the radio program but also got Berg the job as the lead actress on the program she had written. Berg continued to write the show's scripts by hand in pencil for as long as the program was on the air. On November 20, 1929, a 15-minute episode of The Rise of the Goldbergs was first broadcast on the NBC radio network. She started at $75 a week. Less than two years later, in the heart of the Great Depression, she let the sponsor propose a salary and was told, "Mrs. Berg, we can't pay a cent over $2,000 a week." Berg's husband, Lewis, who became a successful consulting engineer after the loss of his job which prompted her to write the initial radio script, refused to be photographed with his wife for publicity purposes, as he felt this was infringing on her success.

James Whitmore
James Allen Whitmore, Jr. (October 1, 1921 – February 6, 2009) was an American film and stage actor.
Born in White Plains, to Florence Belle (née Crane) and James Allen Whitmore, Sr., a park commission official, Whitmore attended Amherst Central High School in Snyder, New York, before graduating from The Choate School (now Choate Rosemary Hall) in Wallingford, Connecticut. He went on to study at Yale University, where he was a member of Skull and Bones and had his first taste of radio drama as part of other broadcasting experience as a member of the student-run WOCD-AM, later renamed WYBC-AM. He later was commissioned a Second Lieutenant and served in the United States Marine Corps in the Panama Canal Zone during World War II.
Following World War II, Whitmore appeared on Broadway in the role of the Sergeant in Command Decision. MGM hired Whitmore on contract, but his role in the film adaptation was played by Van Johnson. Whitmore's first major picture was Battleground, in a role that was turned down by Spencer Tracy, and for which Whitmore was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor. Other major films included Angels in the Outfield (1951 film), The Asphalt Jungle, The Next Voice You Hear,Above and Beyond, Kiss Me, Kate, Them!, Oklahoma!, Black Like Me, Guns of the Magnificent Seven, Tora! Tora! Tora!, and Give 'em Hell, Harry!, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor for his portrayal of former U.S. President Harry S Truman. In the film Tora! Tora! Tora! he played the part of Admiral William F. "Bull" Halsey.

Van Patten was born in New York City, the daughter of Josephine Rose (née Acerno), an Italian American magazine advertising executive, and Richard Byron Van Patten, a Dutch American interior decorator.
She is the younger sister of actor Dick Van Patten, half-sister of actor/director Tim Van Patten and aunt to actors Vincent Van Patten, James Van Patten and Nels Van Patten. Rolling Stone called it "stunning" and CMJ wrote that the album "exhausts any doubts" about whether March was a fluke.

Olive Deering
Olive Deering (October 11, 1918 – March 22, 1986) was an American television actress, active from the late 1940s to the mid-1960s. She was the sister of actor Alfred Ryder.
Her first stage roles was a walk on bit role in Girls in Uniform (1933). She appeared onstage in Moss Hart's Winged Victory, Richard II (starring Maurice Evans) and Counsellor-at-Law (starring Paul Muni). She received kudos for her performance in the Los Angeles production of Tennessee Williams's Suddenly Last Summer. Other stage appearances included No for an Answer, Ceremony of Innocence, Marathon '33, The Young Elizabeth, They Walk Alone and Garden District.
She appeared in several films, including Shock Treatment, Caged, and Cecil B. DeMille's Samson and Delilah as Miriam, a role she reprised in DeMille's The Ten Commandments. Deering appeared on many radio programs, including work in the serials, True Story and Against the Storm, playing in more than 200 television programs, including Desdemona on the Philco Summer Playhouse production of Othello. One of her last television appearances was in an episode of The Alfred Hitchcock Hour called "One of the Family" (original air date February 8, 1965).

Peter Falk
Peter Michael Falk (September 16, 1927 – June 23, 2011) was an American actor, best known for his role as Lt. Frank Columbo in the television series Columbo. He appeared in numerous films such as The Princess Bride, The Great Race and Next, and television guest roles. He was nominated for an Academy Award twice (for 1960's Murder, Inc. and 1961's Pocketful of Miracles), and won the Emmy Award on five occasions (four for Columbo) and the Golden Globe award once. Director William Friedkin, when discussing Falk's role in his 1978 film The Brink's Job, said that "Peter has a great range from comedy to drama. He could break your heart or he could make you laugh."
In 1968, he starred with Gene Barry in a ninety-minute television pilot about a highly-skilled, laid-back detective. Columbo eventually became part of an anthology series titled The NBC Mystery Movie, along with McCloud and McMillan & Wife. The detective series stayed on NBC from 1971 to 1978, took a respite, and returned occasionally on ABC from 1989 to 2003. Falk was "everyone's favorite rumpled television detective", wrote historian David Fantle.

Sephardi Jews (Hebrew: סְפָרַדִּי, Modern Sfaraddi Tiberian Səp̄āraddî) is a general term referring to the descendants of the Jews who lived in the Iberian Peninsula before their expulsion in the Spanish Inquisition. Watch this exciting chase scene in the Los Angeles River. This clip was taken from the October 11, 1972 episode of Cannon entiled Stakeout. After the car chase, a Third Man-type chase continues in the tunnel. These early seventies cars sure handled poorly. I wonder if any of the giant ants are still living on the river from the movie Them! (1956). This episode was directed by Leo Penn, the father of Sean Penn. Note the lack of graffiti on the walls of the river unlike today. I like the America of the early 1970's unlike today.

Michael Benson wrote that the Warren Commission received only information supplied to it by the FBI, and that its purpose was to rubber stamp the lone gunman theory. James H. Fetzer took issue with a 1998 statement from Federal Judge John R. Tunheim, the Chair of the Assassination Records Review Board (ARRB), who stated that no "smoking guns" indicating a conspiracy or cover-up were discovered during their efforts in the early 1990s to declassify documents related to the assassination. Fetzer identified 16 "smoking guns" which he claims prove the official narrative is impossible, and therefore a conspiracy and cover-up occurred. He claims that evidence released by the ARRB substantiates these concerns. These include problems with bullet trajectories, the murder weapon, the ammunition used, inconsistencies between the Warren Commission's account and the autopsy findings, inconsistencies between the autopsy findings and what was reported by witnesses at the scene of the murder, eyewitness accounts that conflict with x-rays taken of the President's body, indications that the diagrams and ...

Leo Z. Penn (August 27, 1921 — September 5, 1998) was an American actor and director, and father of musician Michael Penn and actors Sean Penn and the late Chris Penn.

Early life[link]
Penn was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of Russian Jewish immigrants Elizabeth (née Melincoff) and Maurice Daniel Penn. Leo Penn may have had distant Sephardic ancestry, as his father's surname was originally "Piñon."[1]
Penn served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II as a B-24 Liberator bombardier with the 755th Bomb Squadron, 458th Bomb Group, stationed in England as part of the Eighth Air Force.[2]
Politics[link]
Penn supported the Hollywood trade unions[3] and refused to accuse others to the House Un-American Activities Committee. He was blacklisted, and Paramount refused to renew his contract. As a result Penn was not able to work as a movie actor.[4] He found acting work in television, but CBS ousted him after receiving an anonymous accusation that he had addressed a political meeting.[5] Barred from acting in film or TV, he became a director.[6]

In 1954, Penn won the Theatre World Award for his performance in the play The Girl on the Via Flaminia. Later, Penn would find work as a television director for shows such as Star Trek, I Spy, Starsky and Hutch,Custer, St. Elsewhere, Kojak, Cagney & Lacey, Columbo, Trapper John, M.D. and Father Murphy. Penn later resumed some acting roles. On March 3, 1961, he co-starred with Peter Falk and Joyce Van Patten in the episode "Cold Turkey" of the ABC legal drama series The Law and Mr. Jones starring James Whitmore. About this time, he also appeared on Pat O'Brien's ABC sitcom Harrigan and Son.
In the 1961-1962 television season Penn acted in the TV series Checkmate episode The Button-Down Break and starred as Jerry Green in Gertrude Berg's CBS's sitcom Mrs. G. Goes to College renamed at mid-season as The Gertrude Berg Show. In 1983, Penn was nominated for an Emmy Award for Outstanding Directing in a Drama Series for The Mississippi.

His first marriage, to Olive Deering, was dissolved in 1952. He was married in 1957 to actress Eileen Ryan, and became the father of singer Michael Penn and actors Sean Penn and Chris Penn. He died of lung cancer in Santa Monica, California on September 5, 1998 at the age of 77, and was interred at the Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City.

Foster Hirsch is the author of sixteen books on subjects related to theatre and movies. A native of California, Hirsch received his B.A. from Stanford University, and holds M.F.A, M.A. and Ph.D. degrees from Columbia University. Hirsch joined the English Department of Brooklyn College in 1967, and in 1973 became one of the first professors to join the school's newly established Film Department. He has also been associated with the Pine Bluff Film Festival since its inception in 1994.

Walter Mortimer Mirisch (born 8 November 1921) is an American film producer. In his long and successful motion picture career, Walter Mirisch has produced some of the industry’s finest and most memorable films. He is President and Executive Head of Production of The Mirisch Corporation, an independent filmmaking organization, which he formed in 1957 with his brothers, Marvin and Harold.

Early years[link]
A native of New York, Mirisch graduated from DeWitt Clinton High School and entered the movie business as a summer vacation usher in Jersey City’s State Theater, soon moving up to higher positions at other theaters. In 1942, he received a BA degree from the University of Wisconsin–Madison and the following year graduated from Harvard’s Graduate School of Business Administration. In 1947, he produced his first film, Fall Guy, for Monogram Pictures Corporation.

At the age of 29, Mirisch became production head at Allied Artists Studio with some 30 films to oversee. During his tenure, he found time to personally produce Flat Top, Wichita, which received a Golden Globe from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association as Best Outdoor Drama of 1955, The First Texan, and An Annapolis Story. He supervised the productions of Invasion of the Body Snatchers, Friendly Persuasion, and Love in the Afternoon, among many others.
Mirisch heads that category of creative producers who have learned their craft thoroughly from the very inception of a project through all phases of its production process. Known in the industry as a perfectionist, he supervises every detail of his films from the earliest stages to the final release.
Among the most noteworthy Mirisch projects that Walter personally produced are: Man Of The West; The Magnificent Seven; Two For The See-Saw; Toys in the Attic; the film version of James A. Michener’s monumental novel, Hawaii, which was nominated for seven Academy Awards, and its sequel, The Hawaiians; Midway, the saga of America’s greatest naval victory; the tender and moving Same Time, Next Year; and Romantic Comedy. In 1968, Walter received an Academy Award for In The Heat Of The Night, which won the Best Picture Award, as well as four other Academy Awards. Additionally, it was named Best Picture of the Year by both the New York and Cleveland Film Critics Circle, Best American Picture (co-winner) by the British Film and Television Guild, Best Dramatic Picture of the Year by the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, and it won the United Nations Special Award of the British Film Association.
The Mirisch Corporation’s impressive list of pictures include two more Best Picture Oscar winners: Billy Wilder’s The Apartment in 1960, and Robert Wise’s West Side Story in 1961. Both films also captured additional Academy Awards and numerous other honors and awards. Other outstanding Mirisch films include John Ford’s The Horse Soldiers; William Wyler’s The Children's Hour; John Sturges’ The Great Escape; Blake Edwards’ The Pink Panther, A Shot in the Dark, and The Party, all starring Peter Sellers; Wilder’s Some Like It Hot, One, Two, Three, Irma La Douce, and The Fortune Cookie; and Norman Jewison’s The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming, an Academy Award nominee for Best Picture; The Thomas Crown Affair; and the motion picture versions of the Broadway plays Same Time, Next Year and Romantic Comedy and the musical Fiddler On The Roof, also an Academy Award nominee for Best Picture.
For NBC television network, Mirisch was executive producer of Desperado; Return Of Desperado; Desperado: Avalanche At Devil’s Ridge; Desperado: Legacy; Desperado: Sole Survivor; and in 1993, Troubleshooters: Trapped Beneath The Earth. Mirisch was executive producer of Lily in Winter for the USA Network in 1994, A Class for Life for ABC in 1995, as well as The Magnificent Seven, a weekly series for CBS in 1997.
Ron Howard has said of Mirisch, "From Bomba, the Jungle Boy to Some Like It Hot and In the Heat of the Night . . . Walter Mirisch produced many of the films which dazzled and inspired me (and I’m not kidding about Bomba. I loved those movies as a kid.) When I later acted in one of his (lesser) productions, The Spikes Gang, I learned that a prolific and brilliant producer could also be a terrific guy and a wonderful teacher."[1]
Honors and awards[link]
Throughout the years, Mirisch has been the recipient of numerous awards and honors, including The Producer of the Year Award: first, from the Producers’ Guild of America (1967); later, the National Association of Theater Owners (1972); and then ShowaRama (1975).
In addition, he received the Cecil B. DeMille Award of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for “outstanding contribution to the entertainment field” (1976), the Irving G. Thalberg Memorial Award of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences for his “consistently high quality of motion picture production (1978), and the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award, which is given to an individual whose “humanitarian efforts have brought credit to the industry” (1983).
Mirisch has served three terms as president of the Producers Guild of America. He served four terms as President of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. He is a former president and Governor of the Performing Arts Council of the Los Angeles Music Center, as well as a trustee of the Motion Picture and Television Fund. Mirisch is also an Emeritus member of the Board of Directors of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center of Los Angeles, and the Board of Directors of the UCLA Foundation.
In addition to receiving an Academy Award for his production of In The Heat Of The Night, he was decorated by the Republic of France with its Order of Arts and Letters in 1961.
In May 1989, he received an honorary doctorate in Humane Letters from the University of Wisconsin–Madison. In June 1989, he was the recipient of the UCLA Medal, the university's highest award.
In 2004, he was honored with a retrospective at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art entitled “The Magnificent Mirisches”. The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York honored him in 2006 with a retrospective of twelve films.
On February 2, 2008, Mirisch presented the Darryl F. Zanuck Producer of the Year award at the 19th Annual Producers Guild of America Awards. The top honor (the equivalent of the Academy Award for Best Picture) went to Scott Rudin, Joel and Ethan Coen for No Country for Old Men.

Christopher Shannon "Chris" Penn (October 10, 1965 – January 24, 2006) was an American film and television actor known for his roles in such films as The Wild Life, Reservoir Dogs, Footloose, Rush Hour, True Romance, All the Right Moves and Pale Rider and in the videogame Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.

Penn was born in Los Angeles, California, the youngest son of Leo Penn, an actor and director, and Eileen Ryan (née Annucci), an actress. His paternal grandparents were Jewish emigrants from Lithuania and Russia,[1] and his mother was a Roman Catholic of Italian and Irish descent.[2] According to Penn's mother, Leo Penn may have had distant Sephardic ancestry, as the family's surname was originally "Piñón".[2] His brothers are actor Sean Penn and musician Michael Penn.

Penn started acting at the age of 12 at the Loft Studio and made his film debut in 1979’s Charlie and the Talking Buzzard, starring Christopher Hanks. In 1983, he was featured in Francis Ford Coppola’s youth drama Rumble Fish and appeared in the high school football drama All the Right Moves as the best friend of Tom Cruise's character. He also appeared in the hit dance movie Footloose in 1984 as the best friend of Kevin Bacon's character; played a villain in the Clint Eastwood western Pale Rider (1985); and co-starred with his brother Sean Penn and mother Eileen Ryan in At Close Range (1986).
Penn was typically cast as a tough character, featured as a villain or a working-class lug, or in a comic role. Two of his more memorable performances were in Reservoir Dogs as Nice Guy Eddie and True Romance as Nicky Dimes (both characters in scripts written by Quentin Tarantino). In 1996 he won the award for Best Supporting Actor at the Venice Film Festival for The Funeral.
Penn, who had a black belt in karate, appeared in the 1989 motion picture Best of the Best as Travis Brickley, a cocky member of the U.S. karate team taking on the team from Korea. The film also starred James Earl Jones, Sally Kirkland, Eric Roberts, Phillip Rhee and Simon Rhee. Penn reprised his role in 1993’s Best of the Best 2.
In Robert Altman's ensemble film Short Cuts, Penn played a troubled swimming pool cleaner who is disturbed by his wife’s profession (a telephone sex worker who takes calls from clients at home) to which Penn’s character is obliged to listen. He also appeared as a fall guy in a criminal conspiracy in Murder by Numbers alongside Sandra Bullock.
Penn was meant to appear in American Pie 2 as Steve Stifler's father, but the scenes featuring him were eventually cut as there was not sufficient time to include him in the film's plot. However, they appeared on the deleted scene reel from the movie's DVD.
In 2003, he appeared on the Will & Grace episode, Fanilow as Barry Manilow's tour director and a character who is interested romantically in Will. Penn was featured in an episode of the television crime drama Law & Order: Criminal Intent ("Death Roe") during the 2004–2005 season. He was also featured on the 2004 video game Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas as the voice of Officer Eddie Pulaski. Penn played himself on a 2005 episode of the HBO series Entourage. He appeared in The Darwin Awards, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival one day after his death.
Penn appears in Jay-Z's "Can I Get A..." music video as a bartender who mixes drinks and dances.

Penn was found dead in his Santa Monica condominium on January 24, 2006, at the age of 40. Although Penn had used multiple drugs in the past, an autopsy performed by a Los Angeles County medical examiner revealed the primary cause of death was "nonspecific cardiomyopathy" (heart disease), with the prescription drug promethazine with codeine and an enlarged heart being possible contributing circumstances. Sean Penn has said publicly in a TV interview on Larry King Live that his brother probably died because of his weight.[3]
There is conflicting information about Chris Penn's age at the time of death, with some obituaries giving 1962 as his year of birth.[4] His mother indicated that his date of birth was October 10, 1965, in Richard T. Kelly's book, Sean Penn: His Life and Times (2004).
Penn is interred in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Culver City, California.[5] Penn is cited in the End Credits of Rush Hour 3.

Robin Gayle Wright (born April 8, 1966) is an American actress. She has also been credited as Robin Wright Penn.
From 1984 to 1988 she starred on the television series Santa Barbara as Kelly Capwell which earned her Daytime Emmy nominations. She then starred in films such as The Princess Bride and Forrest Gump (earning her a Golden Globe nomination). She has appeared in films such as Toys, Message in a Bottle, Unbreakable, The Conspirator, Moneyball and The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
Wright was married to actor Sean Penn from 1996 to 2010, with whom she had two children.

Wright was born Robin Gayle Wright[1] in Dallas, Texas, the daughter of Gayle (née Gaston), an Independent Executive National Sales Director for Mary Kay cosmetics, and Freddie Gayle Wright, a pharmaceutical executive.[2] She was raised in San Diego, California. She attended La Jolla High School in La Jolla, California.[citation needed]

She was listed as one of twelve "Promising New Actors of 1986" in John Willis' Screen World, Vol. 38. [1986]. Wright first became famous on television, playing Kelly Capwell on the soap opera Santa Barbara, which earned her three Daytime Emmy nominations. She shot to stardom after her roles as Buttercup in The Princess Bride and Jenny Curran in Forrest Gump, the latter role garnering her Golden Globe Award and Screen Actors Guild nominations for Best Supporting Actress. Wright was offered the role of Maid Marian in Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, but turned it down because she was pregnant. She had to back out of the role of Abby McDeere in The Firm (1993), with Tom Cruise, upon discovering that she was pregnant with her second child (son Hopper Penn).[citation needed]
In 1996, she married Sean Penn and changed her name to Robin Wright Penn. The same year, she starred in the film adaptation of Daniel Defoe's Moll Flanders for which she received a Satellite Nomination for Best Actress in a Drama. She went on to co-star with her husband in the 1997 film She's So Lovely, for which she was nominated for a Screen Actors Guild Award for Best Actress. One of her most recent successes was a supporting role in the television film Empire Falls as Grace Roby, mother of Ed Harris's character Miles Roby. Wright received her third Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for this role.
She also appeared in A Home at the End of the World in 2004 with Collin Farrell, Dallas Roberts and Sissy Spacek.

From 1986 to 1988, Wright was married to actor Dane Witherspoon, whom she met in 1984 on the set of the soap-opera Santa Barbara.[3]
In 1989, Wright became involved with actor Sean Penn following his divorce from Madonna. Their daughter Dylan Frances Penn was born on April 13, 1991. Their son Hopper Jack Penn, born August 6, 1993, is named after two family friends, Dennis Hopper and Jack Nicholson. After they married in 1996, their relationship went through on-again and off-again periods in the 2000s. Divorce plans and a separation were announced in December 2007.[4] In February 2009, Wright and Penn attended the 81st Academy Awards together, at which Penn won Best Actor, but the couple announced separation again in April 2009,[5] only to be withdrawn,[6] and then again in May 2009.[7] On August 12, 2009, Wright filed for divorce once more,[8] declaring she had no plans to reconcile.[9] She also dropped "Penn" from her professional name.[10] The couple finalized their divorce on July 22, 2010.[11]
People Magazine reported in February 2012 that Wright is seeing actor Ben Foster[12].
Wright is the national campaign spokesperson for the Myasthenia Gravis Foundation of America.[13] She is also the Honorary Spokesperson for the Dallas, Texas-based non-profit The Gordie Foundation.[14]

Penn served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II as a B-24 Liberator bombardier with the 755th Bomb Squadron, 458th Bomb Group, stationed in England as part of the Eighth Air Force.
Penn supported the Hollywood trade unions and refused to accuse others to the House Un-American Activities Committee. He was blacklisted, and Paramount refused to renew his contract. As a result Penn was not able to work as a movie actor. He found acting work in television, but CBS ousted him after receiving an anonymous accusation that he had addressed a political meeting. Barred from acting in film or TV, he became a director.
