The Doors (1991) - Trailer
Siskel & Ebert: The Doors (Year 1991)
Siskle and Ebert review the 1991 Biopic film The Doors which is about the lead singer of the Doors band, Jim Morrison played by Val Kilmer. Gene Siskel liked the movie because of the Music and the art style of the film while Roger Ebert gave it thumbs down because he found the movie to be very depressing and sad during the last part of the film where Jim Morrison's life becomes a living hell for him.

The Doors Movie part 1
The Doors is a 1991 biopic about the 1960s-1970s rock band of the same name which emphasizes the life of its lead singer, Jim Morrison. It was directed by Oliver Stone, and stars Val Kilmer as Morrison, Meg Ryan as Pamela Courson (Morrison's companion), Kyle MacLachlan as Ray Manzarek, Frank Whaley as Robby Krieger, Kevin Dillon as John Densmore, and Kathleen Quinlan as Patricia Kennealy. The film portrays Morrison as the larger-than-life icon of 1960s rock and roll, counterculture, and the drug-using free love hippie lifestyle. But the depiction goes beyond the iconic: his alcoholism, interest in the spiritual plane and hallucinogenic drugs as entheogens, and, particularly, his growing obsession with death are threads which weave in and out of the film. The film's depiction of Morrison did not sit well with his close friends and family. The film opens during the recording of Morrison's An American Prayer and quickly moves to a childhood memory of his family driving along a desert highway. Young Jim sees an elderly native American dying by the roadside. The film picks up with Morrison's arrival in California and his assimilation into the Venice Beach culture, followed by his film school days studying at UCLA; his introduction to his girlfriend Pamela Courson, his first encounters with Ray Manzarek, and the origin of The Doors: Manzarek, Robby Krieger, and John Densmore. Morrison convinces his bandmates to travel to Death Valley and experience the effects of psychedelic ...

The Doors - The Severed Garden (Adagio)
The Doors - An American Prayer 1978 / The Doors Original Soundtrack 1991 "A Feast Of Friends" (also known as "The Severed Garden") Wow, I'm sick of doubt Live in the light of certain South Cruel bindings. The servants have the power Dog-men and their mean women Pulling poor blankets over Our sailors I'm sick of dour faces Staring at me from the tv Tower, I want roses in My garden bower; dig? Royal babies, rubies Must now replace aborted Strangers in the mud These mutants, blood-meal For the plant that's plowed. They are waiting to take us into The severed garden Do you know how pale and wanton thrillful Comes death on a strange hour Unannounced, unplanned for Like a scaring over-friendly guest you've Brought to bed Death makes angels of us all And gives us wings Where we had shoulders Smooth as raven's Claws No more money, no more fancy dress This other kingdom seems by far the best Until it's other jaw reveals incest And loose obedience to a vegetable law. I will not go Prefer a feast of friends To the giant family.
