Tupolev Tu-144 Supersonic Transport First Flight: "Takeoff SST" pt2-2 1969 USSR English
more at scitech.quickfound.net A Russian film, dubbed in English, about the development of the Tupolev Tu-144 SST. The film was placed in the US National Archives by the Central Intelligence Agency. Public domain film from the National Archives, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and equalization. The design, publicly unveiled in January 1962, was constructed under the direction of the Soviet Tupolev design bureau, headed by Alexei Tupolev. The prototype first flew on 31 December 1968 near Moscow, two months before the first flight of the Concorde. The Tu-144 first broke the sound barrier on 5 June 1969, and on 15 July 1969 became the first commercial transport to exceed Mach 2. The Tu-144 was outwardly similar to the Concorde, under development at the same time by Aérospatiale/British Aircraft Corporation, and allegations were frequently made that Soviet espionage services had stolen Concorde technology. Tupolev Tu-95 Bear
Tupolev Tu-95 en.wikipedia.org The Tupolev Tu-95 (Russian: Туполев Ту--95) (NATO reporting name: Bear) is a large, four-engine turboprop powered strategic bomber and missile platform. First flown in 1952, the Tu-95 was put into service by the former Soviet Union in 1956 and is expected to serve the Russian Air Force until at least 2040. Commonly referred to even in Russia by its NATO designation, "Bear", the aircraft has four Kuznetsov NK-12 engines, each driving contra-rotating propellers. It remains the fastest propeller-driven aircraft in history (a bigger, heavier, passenger version Tu-114 with de-rated engines, holds the FAI certified world speed record at 541.23 mph average speed on a 1000 km closed circuit carrying a load equivalent to only 200 kg short of the weight of three Douglas DC-3's. Some experimental aircraft were designed for theoretically higher speeds, but none attained or registered them.) It also remains the only turboprop-powered strategic bomber in operational use. Its distinctively swept-back wings are at 35 degrees, a very sharp angle by the standards of propeller-driven aircraft, and justified by its operating speeds and altitudes. Its blades, which rotate faster than the speed of sound, make it the noisiest military aircraft on earth. A naval development of the bomber is designated Tu-142.

Tupolev Tu-160 probably the best and most large supersonic strategic bomber
The Tupolev Tu-160 (Russian: Туполев Ту-160, NATO reporting name: Blackjack) is a supersonic, variable-sweep wing heavy strategic bomber designed by the Tupolev Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. Although several civil and military transport aircraft are larger in overall dimensions, the Tu-160 is currently the world's largest combat aircraft, largest supersonic aircraft, and largest variable-sweep aircraft built. In addition, the Tu-160 has the heaviest takeoff weight of any military aircraft besides transports. Entering service in 1987, the Tu-160 was the last strategic bomber designed for the Soviet Union. The aircraft remains in limited production, with at least 16 aircraft currently in service with the Russian Air Force.

RARE TUPOLEV TU-144 LL RA-77114 Tupolev/NASA SST video
Part of the movie Les ailes du futur - 2l3 - Géants et supersoniques civils Hero of the Russian Federation, the test pilot 1st class captain Sergey Borisov talks about Tupolev Tu-144 LL flight testing. In July, 1983 this aircraft was designated as "101" and established 14 world records. These records were including a height of flight of 18200 m with payload from 10 to 30 tons, average speed of 2031.55 km/h on a closed circuit of 1000 km and 2012.26 km/h on a closed circuit of 2000 km. When the TU-144 program was cancelled, CCCP-77114 was used as research aircraft in experiments about the radiation in top layers of the atmosphere, ozone layer, thermal influence in different materials and studies on aerodynamics. In 1990 was placed in nonflyable storage. In 1993 08-2 was chosen to serve as testbed in a joint program between Tupolev, NASA and others US firms. The aircraft suffered an extensive modification that included the power plant, former Koliesov RD-36-51A engines were replaced by Kuznetsov NK-321 (engines of the TU-160 bomber). The new model was designated TU-144LL Flying Laboratory. The first flight of TU-144LL was on November 29, 1996 and a total of 27 flights were realized until the end of the program in 1999.

Tupolev Tu-144
The Tu-144 (Charger) was the world's first supersonic transport aircraft (SST) and remains one of only two SSTs to enter commercial service, the other being Concorde. Publicly unveiled in January 1962 constructed the Soviet Tupolev design bureau. The Tu-144 first broke the sound barrier 05/06/1969, and on 15/07/1969 became the first commercial transport to exceed Mach 2. The Tu-144 was outwardly similar to the Concorde, and allegations were frequently made that Soviet had stolen Concorde technology. The Tu-144 crashed in 1973 at the Paris Air Show, delaying its development. The Tu-144 was later used by the Soviet space program to train pilots, and by NASA for supersonic research. The aircraft proved to be highly unreliable and extremely noisy for passengers in flight. Passengers seated next to each other could have a conversation only with difficulty, and those seated two seats apart could not hear each other even when screaming and had to pass hand-written notes instead. Noise in the back of the aircraft was apparently unbearable. Music: Hyperstory - 'Ascension'.

VIP Tupolev Tu-204 Landing At Sunset
Well finally I managed to film a Tupolev , and what a Tupolev ! This Tu204-300 is one of only eleven Tu204-300s that are currently in operation worldwide. Currently there are only forty Tupolev Tu-204(all types) aircraft in service worldwide with another thirty one on order and fifteen in storage. This is the only Tupolev Tu-204 that is in VIP configuration. This aircraft is just over 19 years old (built in 1993)and is currently operated in full VIP configuration by Business Aero. They have operated it since 8th October 2009. Prior to that the Tupolev Design Bureau themselves had ownership of it for 13 years from 1996-2009. It was originally delivered on 6th October 1993 to Oryol Avia. It then briefly changed operators to Aeroflot on 4th July 1995 before returning to Tupolev in 1996. This flight originated in Moscow, Russia and landed in on runway 17 at Cork Airport, Ireland at 7:12pm local time(GMT) on September 20th 2012. It's registration is RA-64010 and it also used this as its callsign for this flight with a squawk of 754. Weather conditions at the time were favourable with a temperature of 12 degrees celcius. The wind was from the South West (220 degrees) at 8 knots. In the video you can also hear Air Traffic Control radio communications between the aircraft and the control tower. Thankfully it arrived just as there was still enough light to film. Had it been 20 minutes later I wouldn't have seen much. It is only the second Tu204 to ever land at Cork Airport. This ...

The Tupolev
The largest fleet of Tu-134 still exists in Russia (146 of about 230 planes of this model). In March 2007 the Russian Minister of transportation Igor Levitin claimed that Tu-134s (as well as Tu-154s) are old and obsolete and should be replaced by Sukhoi Superjet 100 or its foreign analogues within five years.
In Jan 2010, Russian national carrier Aeroflot announced the retirement of its Tu-154 fleet after almost 40 years service (pre-production deliveries began in 1970), with the last flight by SU736 from Ekaterinburg to Moscow on Dec 31 2009.

China Southern Airbus A330 First at Stansted. Ilyushin Il-62M IL76, Tupolev TU154 Russian Aircraft
Well this one is a bit of an epic - actually it's my longest video upload to date. I hope you enjoy it and stick with it right to the end. As a result of the Summer of Sport in London there have been many rare and unsual visitors to Stansted. I've brought a lot of VIP arrivals to you in my previous video, but this was on the day of the opening ceremony. However this video features some of the movements during the proceedings as more athletes and heads of state travel around. This video features an Airbus of the Armenian Government to kick things off, followed by a title sequence that's quite short but quite ambitious. The music is supposed to start with a Chinese / Asian sound reflecting the Airbus 330 of China Southern on screen, this then cuts into shots of Russian built TU154 of the Slovak Government, IL62's an IL96 and IL76. All this is set to more grinding hardcore music to try and reflect the machinery that is these aircraft - well that's the thought anyway! Stay to the end to capture the water cannon salute for China Southern, I can only think this was done because the airline only recently started flights to Heathrow and there was a hosepipe ban on according to 'Aviation News' so this may have been done at STN instead. Thanks for watching and commenting.
