Tour of Clarkson University Athletics Facilities
Intercollegiate athletics have played a significant role at Clarkson throughout the University's history. From the early days, when the hockey team skated on the frozen surface of the Raquette River, the football squad and baseball team battled the opposition on Snell Field, and when the basketball team called the old gym on Pierrepont Avenue home, sports have been a rallying point for the Clarkson Community. Today, students can compete in 14 varsity sports at the NCAA Division III level, while the men's and women's hockey squads participate in Division I. The men's and women's alpine and nordic ski teams participate in the United States Collegiate Ski Association (USCSA). The Golden Knights athletic teams are in action throughout the school year, participating in the fall, winter, and spring. Clarkson is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA), the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) for Division III sports, and ECAC Hockey for DI. The Golden Knights Division III teams compete regionally in the Liberty League, which has produced numerous NCAA Champions and is comprised of top quality private institutions from within New York State. Many of Clarkson's teams have participated in postseason play both in the ECAC and NCAA tournaments. The men's hockey, men's soccer and women's basketball teams have all reached the "Final Four" in the NCAA Tournament in the past. The Clarkson Men's Basketball team earned its first-ever NCAA trip in 2008, while ...

Southern Illinois University presents Title IX Trailblazer Charlotte West
Dr. Charlotte West came to Southern Illinois University in 1957 as a coach and instructor in physical education. She became a full professor in 1973 and developed and directed SIU's graduate program in sports management. She coached five sports from 1957-75 at SIU including women's golf, which won a national title in 1969. From 1960 until 1986, West was director of intercollegiate athletics for women. She led the transformation of the department from its meager beginnings to a nationally recognized program with a budget of more than $1 million for 11 sports. During her tenure as an administrator, West earned regional and national acclaim for her work in the governance of intercollegiate athletics, particularly her efforts for women in sports. Her achievements include being elected president of the American Association for Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (AIAW); being the first woman member of the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA), later serving on its executive committee; being the first recipient of the Honda Award, for outstanding achievement in women's athletics. West has continued to teach the history of Title IX to hundreds of young aspiring athletic administrators as a member of the faculty of the NACWAA/HERS Leadership Institutes.

USF Football 2012
Fort Wayne's College Football Team The University of Saint Francis hasn't been crushing opponents the way they used to, and some of the other teams in the MSFA have begun to catch up to the Cougars' level. Nonetheless, few teams around the state, and indeed around the country, have enjoyed the overwhelming accolades which have been showered upon the USF football team over the past decade-and-a-half. With the addition of lights at Bishop D'Arcy Stadium and the school's first night game a mere month away, the tradition of Cougar football continues in a historic new season, one which these players hope will end in a shower of blue and white confetti raining upon the NAIA National Championship trophy...

8-26 USF Football 46 at Texas College 10
TYLER, Texas -- Antoin Campbell, a flyin' University of Saint Francis defense and 90-plus degree heat combined to wilt Texas College on Saturday afternoon, 46-10 in the season-opening game for both teams. The win moved USF Head Coach Kevin Donley's career victory total to 255, tied him with NAIA active-leader Hank Biesiot (DIckinson State University) and moved the USF 15-year coach to within a win of tying NAIA record-holder Frosty Westering. DSU opens its season on Sept. 1 against Rocky Mountain College at 7 pm local time. Campbell, a sophomore from Springboro, Ohio, has changed his number from 25 in 2011 to 5 in 2012, and he looked especially speedy on a 72-yard touchdown gallup for his third score of the game in the fourth quarter. He finished with a game-high 108 yards on 11 carries. Josh Miller, in his first collegiate start at quarterback, finished 10-for-22 passing for 99 yards. Matt Smith tackled the TC QB in the end zone inching USF's lead to 25-10 and Campbell followed with his long run of the game.

In February 2011, the five times world champions Fred Fugen and Vince Reffett from Soul Flyers were invited to Melbourne to provide advanced 3D coaching to some of Australia's leading Skydive athlete talent.
The goal of the Training camp and the production were:
1. To increase participation in our sport.
2. Provide greater pathways for our elite athletes.
Hopefully this video will give all that view it a different perspective of what skydiving can offer. Hopefully it will provoke some necessity to learn to fly in our wonderful three-dimensional environment- The Sky!

Oil'd
In April 2010 a massive oil spill began in the Gulf. The entire country was glued to the news until the well was capped, and then we forgot about it.
As the year anniversary was approaching I became curious, just how much oil was that exactly? Where would it have gone? What I found was shocking.
So in an effort to further our discussion on oil dependency I created this short animation to help illustrate just how dependent we truly are on oil.

On Assignment
As a climber sometimes our biggest job is to try to do justice to the amazing stories of our friends and peers. For this piece I worked with our crew at http://camp4collective.com to tell http://thenorthface.com athlete Jimmy Chin's http://jimmychin.com story as he in turn highlights modern day climbing in Yosemite for a National Geographic feature story.
It seemed so serendipitous to be 'on assignment' in a place that we all cut out teeth as adventurers and which also ended up becoming the namesake of our collective!
As always, thanks for tuning in! ~reo

Spring Football Update
Kevin Donley and his staff welcome back 18 starters including special teams 'specialists'. USF only loses three starters on the defensive side of the ball, but Donley expects competition to be intense not only this spring, but in August when the players return to prepare for the Sept. 1 opener. The 2011 team finished 9-3, 3-2 in the Mid-States Football Association Mideast League. USF finished third in the MSFA MEL behind champion Marian (12-1, 5-0) and St. Xavier (14-1, 4-1 MEL), which won the 2011 NAIA National Championship Game over then No. 1 Carroll College (MT). This will be USF Head Coach Kevin Donley's 34 th season as a head college football coach, 15 th at USF, where he has a 141-30 record. He has a 254-117-1 record heading into the 2012 season and has masterminded 14 consecutive winning seasons directing the Cougars.
