An internal link is a hyperlink that is a reference or navigation element in a document to another section of the same document or to another document that may be on or part of the same website or domain of the internet. In articles like this one, the words highlighted in blue are examples of internal links.

Links are considered either "external" or "internal" depending on perspective. Generally, a link to a page outside the same domain is considered external, whereas one in the same domain is considered internal.

However, these definitions become clouded when the same organization operates multiple domains functioning as a single web experience, e.g. when a secure commerce website is used for purchasing things displayed on a non-secure website.

David Eagleman (born April 1971) is a neuroscientist at Baylor College of Medicine, where he directs the Laboratory for Perception and Action and the Initiative on Neuroscience and Law. He is best known for his work on time perception,^[1] synesthesia,^[2] and neurolaw.^[3] He is a Guggenheim Fellow, a council member in the World Economic Forum, and a New York Times bestselling author published in 27 languages.^[4][5][6][7]

David Eagleman was born April 1971 in New Mexico to a physician father and biology teacher mother. An early experience of falling from a roof raised his interest in understanding the neural basis of time perception.^[8][9] He attended the Albuquerque Academy for high school. As an undergraduate at Rice University, he majored in British and American literature. He spent his junior year abroad at Oxford University and graduated from Rice in 1993.^[10] He earned his Ph.D. in Neuroscience at Baylor College of Medicine in 1998, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at the Salk Institute.

Eagleman directs a neuroscience research laboratory at Baylor College of Medicine. He serves on the editorial boards of the scientific journals PLoS One and Journal of Vision. Eagleman sits on boards of several arts organizations and is the youngest member of the Board of Directors of the Long Now Foundation. He is a Guggenheim Fellow,^[11] a Next Generation Texas Fellow,^[12] a Fellow of the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies, a council member on the World Economic Forum’s Global Agenda Council on Brain & Cognitive Sciences, and was recently voted one of Houston's Most Stylish men.^[13] Italy's Style magazine named Eagleman one of the "Brainiest, Brightest Idea Guys for 2012" and featured him on the cover.^[14]

Eagleman has been profiled in such magazines as the New Yorker,^[1] Texas Monthly, and Texas Observer,^[15] and on such television programs as The Colbert Report^[16] and Nova Science Now.^[17] Stewart Brand wrote that "David Eagleman may be the best combination of scientist and fiction-writer alive."^[18]

Time perception[link]

Eagleman's scientific work combines psychophysical, behavioral, and computational approaches to address the relationship between the timing of perception and the timing of neural signals.^[19][20][21] Areas for which he is known include temporal encoding, time warping, manipulations of the perception of causality, and time perception in high-adrenaline situations. In one experiment, he dropped himself and other volunteers from a 150 foot tower to measure time perception as they fell.^[22][23] He writes that his long-range goal is "to understand how neural signals processed by different brain regions come together for a temporally unified picture of the world."^[24]

Synesthesia[link]

Synesthesia is an unusual perceptual condition in which stimulation to one sense triggers an involuntary sensation in other senses. Eagleman is the developer of The Synesthesia Battery, a free online test by which people can determine whether they are synesthetic. By this technique he has tested and analyzed thousands of synesthetes,^[25] and has written a book on synesthesia with Richard Cytowic, entitled Wednesday is Indigo Blue: Discovering the Brain of Synesthesia.^[2] Eagleman has proposed that sensory processing disorder, a common characteristic of autism, may be a form of synesthesia ^[26]

Neurolaw is an emerging field that determines how modern brain science should affect the way we make laws, punish criminals, and invent new methods for rehabilitation.^[3][27][28] Eagleman is the founder and director of Baylor College of Medicine's Initiative on Neuroscience and Law.^[29]

Eagleman's work of literary fiction, Sum: Forty Tales from the Afterlives, is an international bestseller published in 27 languages. The Observer wrote that "Sum has the unaccountable, jaw-dropping quality of genius,"^[6] The Wall Street Journal called Sum "inventive and imaginative"^[30] and the Los Angeles Times hailed the book as "teeming, writhing with imagination".^[7] In the New York Times Book Review, Alexander McCall Smith described Sum as a "delightful, thought-provoking little collection belonging to that category of strange, unclassifiable books that will haunt the reader long after the last page has been turned. It is full of tangential insights into the human condition and poetic thought experiments... It is also full of touching moments and glorious wit of the sort one only hopes will be in copious supply on the other side."^[5] Sum was chosen by Time Magazine for their 2009 Summer Reading list,^[31] and selected as Book of the Week by both The Guardian^[32] and The Week.^[33] In September 2009, Sum was ranked by Amazon as the #2 bestselling book in the United Kingdom.^[34][35] Sum was named a Book of the Year by Barnes and Noble, The Chicago Tribune, The Guardian, and The Scotsman.

Why the Net Matters[link]

In 2010 Eagleman published Why the Net Matters (Canongate Books), in which he argued that the advent of the internet mitigates some of the traditional existential threats to civilizations.^[36] In keeping with the book's theme of the dematerialization of physical goods, he chose to publish the manuscript as an app for the iPad rather than a physical book. The New York Times Magazine described Why the Net Matters as a "superbook", referring to "books with so much functionality that they’re sold as apps.".^[37] Stewart Brand described Why the Net Matters as a "breakthrough work". The project was longlisted for the 2011 Publishing Innovation Award by Digital Book World.^[38] Eagleman's talk on the topic, entitled "Six Easy Ways to Avert the Collapse of Civilization", was voted the #8 Technology talk of 2010 by Fora.tv.

Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain[link]

Eagleman's science book Incognito: The Secret Lives of the Brain is a New York Times bestseller^[4] and was named a Best Book of 2011 by Amazon,^[39] the Boston Globe,^[40] and the Houston Chronicle.^[41] Incognito was reviewed as "appealing and persuasive" by the Wall Street Journal^[42] and "a shining example of lucid and easy-to-grasp science writing" by The Independent.^[43] A starred review from Kirkus described it as "a book that will leave you looking at yourself--and the world--differently."^[44]

Craig Dugald McLachlan (born 1 September 1965) is an Australian actor, musician and singer. He has been involved in flim, television and music theatre for the past 25 years.

Biography[link]

Craig Mclachlan is one of Australia’s most versatile and recognisable artists. As an actor, musician and composer he has had an international career spanning more than two decades.

He first appeared on Australian television in a guest role on ‘The Young Doctors’, and went on to be cast as Henry Ramsey, brother of Kylie Minogue’s character ‘Charlene’ in Channel 10’s hit show ‘Neighbours’. After appearing in more than 800 episodes and winning the coveted Gold Logie and Silver Logie , he was contracted to Channel 7’s hit show ‘Home and Away’ playing schoolteacher Grant Mitchell.

A talented guitarist, Craig went on to have international success as a singer/ songwriter achieving Australian and UK hit singles with his remake of the Bo Diddley song ‘Mona’, as well as his self penned ‘Amanda’, ‘One Reason Why’ and ‘On My Own’. His band Check 1-2 went on to tour the UK and Europe.

In 1993 Craig starred as Danny Zuko in the West End revival of the musical ‘Grease’ alongside Deborah Gibson and Sonia Evans. Breaking all existing box office records, the initial ‘9 month’ season completely sold out before the first week of previews concluded. It was the beginning of a hugely successful run of musicals for Craig, starring as Frankenfurter in ‘The Rocky Horror Show’, Caractacus Potts in ‘Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, Bob Wallace in ‘White Christmas’, culminating in his performance of Billy Flynn in the award winning production of ‘Chicago’.

In the mid 90’s McLachlan starred in three series of the BBC hit television series ‘Bugs’ and appeared in ‘Catherine the Great’ alongside Catherine Zeta-Jones and Omar Sharif.

Throughout the first decade of the ‘noughties’, Craig appeared in around 20 extremely varied film & television projects including the American movie ‘Superfire’, the career-defining role of Stuart Diver in the acclaimed film ‘Heroe’s Mountain’, and ‘Blackjack’ with the brilliant Colin Friels. In 2004 he played Michael Chamberlain in ‘Through My Eyes’, an account of the Lindy Chamberlain story and in the same year began work in the recurring role of Kane Morgan in the popular show ‘McLeod's Daughters’. Craig echoed Buster Keaton hilariously as Jeff Kennard in the Australian film ‘Hating Alison Ashley’ and worked alongside along side Benjamin Bratt and James Franco in ‘The Great Raid'. Most recently Craig starred with good friend & Aussie film legend John Jarratt in ‘Savages Crossing’, in which Craig also composed the films score.

Craig appeared regularly through seasons of the network Seven hit TV series ‘Packed to the Rafters’ as aging rocker Steve Wilson and was cast in ‘Rescue: Special Ops’ Series four as the ultra competitive Hayden Bradley. Recently he appeared as Steve, the handsome gay gardener in the award winning production ‘At Home With Julia’ and is returning for a second season of the comedy ‘Lowdown’ for the ABC. In 2011 Craig auditioned & ultimately shot a guest starring role for CBS televisions internationally acclaimed ‘NCIS Los Angeles’ appearing with Chris O‘Donnell and LL Cool Jay.

Craig returned to Australia in 2012 to commence filming on Series One of ‘The Doctor Blake Mysteries’, playing the title role of Lucien Blake for ABC Australia/ITV UK, a period drama set in 1958 Ballarat.

Gideon Obarzanek (b. 1966, Melbourne)^[1] is an Australian choreographer and the Artistic Director of Melbourne, Australia based contemporary dance company Chunky Move which he formed in 1995, in collaboration with Garry Stewart.

Gideon Obarzanek spent his early childhood in Israel on an agricultural kibbutz. His family returned to Melbourne where he took jazz ballet lessons, he later went to the Australian Ballet School, graduating in 1987.^[1] He danced with the Queensland Ballet after graduation. He later joined the Sydney Dance Company before pursuing a career as a performer and choreographer with various dance companies and independent projects within Australia and abroad. In that period he worked with The Australian Ballet, Sydney Dance Company, Opera Australia and the Netherlands Dance Theatre.

His works for Chunky Move have included stage productions, installations, site-specific works and film. His works have been performed in many festivals and theatres around the world in the U.K, Europe, Asia and the Americas. In New York, he has been presented at BAM Next Wave Festival,^[2] Dance Theatre Workshop and the Joyce Theatre.
