FinLitTV® - What Is Medicaid
Medicaid is a government funded health insurance program for people with few resources who are not able to afford their healthcare. The Medicaid program pays the healthcare provider directly for the care for the person who qualifies. It does not matter how old or young you are to qualify for Medicaid so young people whose parents do not have enough money can get healthcare through Medicaid. Like Medicare though, the federal government does not have a lot of resources to continue to pay for Medicaid and this program could experience cut-backs like the Medicare health insurance program for people who are over 65 years of age.

Obamacare at the Supreme Court: Day Three (2/2)
blog.heritage.org | The Court's afternoon session focused on whether Congress's conditions on the states to continue to participate in the Medicaid program were constitutionally coercive. The two sessions were largely distinct but had some overlapping aspects. Heritage's Todd Gaziano joined us after the final session to discuss what transpired in the courtroom and his overall impressions of the past three days of oral arguments.

Stealth-Unionization Scheme Bleeds Medicaid
Robert and Patricia Haynes of Macomb Township take care of their adult children — Melissa, 34, and Kevin, 30 — who suffer from hypertonic cerebral palsy and function at the level of six-month-olds. Now, some of the Medicaid assistance that is supposed to go to the Haynes family is being diverted to the coffers of the Service Employee International Union. The Hayneses are not alone. Under this arrangement, the SEIU has skimmed nearly $29 million from 56000 Michigan home health care providers, most of whom are self-employed or family members caring for loved ones. In 2005, the SEIU held a virtually unpublicized election that roped these providers into the union — even though more than 80 percent of them did not vote. In June 2011, the Michigan House passed legislation that would prevent people from being designated government employees simply because they receive a subsidy. Michigan's Senate Republicans, who hold a supermajority, have not considered the bill, allowing the SEIU to collect $4 million more over the intervening eight months.

"Dueling Banjos" on Medicaid in Oklahoma, and the Ryan pick for Veep
With Pat McGuigan of CapitolBeatOK, News9's Alex Cameron discusses Medicaid spending and policy in Oklahoma, and the selection of Wisconsin's Paul Ryan as Mitt Romney's choice for the Republican vice presidential slot. McGuigan pointes to dramatic differences in assumptions among policy analysis about projected Medicaid costs under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), often dubbed "ObamaCare." Cameron wonders about the "dueling banjos" in the debate. McGuigan explains Jonathan Small of the Oklahoma Council of Public Affairs projects more than $11 billion in increased spending over a decade, while Mike Fogarty of the Oklahoma Health Care Authority and David Blatt of Oklahoma Policy Institute anticipate hundreds of millions of dollars in eventual savings. Governor Fallin is waiting to see how the election turns out before grappling with the issue. As for Ryan, he has long advocated Medicaid reforms, and his Medicare recommendations are more moderate than those in the ACA. McGuigan believes the choice of Ryan consolidates the conservative base for Romney, even helping with Ron Paul supporters in advance of the upcoming convention. Democrats want to tie Ryan's budget ideas around Romney's neck, but McGuigan believes concerns about federal debt and spending are so deep that might benefit the GOP nominee.

An Inconvenient Tax - Pre-Release Trailer
An Inconvenient Tax sheds light on one of America’s messiest problems — a fundamentally broken tax code that affects every part of people’s lives. With the U.S. Congress making over 16,000 changes to the tax code in the last two decades alone, many Americans want something better, but few know where to start. This feature-length documentary film reveals the many ways Congress uses the tax code to achieve political goals that have nothing to do with raising revenue. It also tackles the controversial issue of tax reform through a non-partisan presentation of U.S. tax history and current proposals to fix the code. In a time when America faces fiscal crisis, An Inconvenient Tax brings a crucial exploration of the tax code to the big screen.

My mother had her first stroke at age 55; her second stroke followed a year later. She was left incapacitated and we were left devastated. We hated the thought of placing her in a long-term care facility but we had no choice. How were we going to pay for her care and still preserve the assets she wanted to leave to her children and grandchildren? Luckily, I had experience in Medicaid Planning from my years of working with the State of Florida

My mother's app has been in for about a year now with no end in sight. And there is more from a source who definitely knows WTF they are talking about: Hi__________ I am trying to document other harms... speaking with the lawyer who brought the case..... the state is saying in court that there are no harms to patients if the person is enrolled in a nursing home but I believe there are more programs mom can get under Title XIX am I correct? christopher-king.blogspot.com Plus as I say it f______ up the entire morale which cannot be good for patients, duh. ************** Dear Chris: This is an issue that the choices program brought up at least two years ago. Medicaid isn't the only program being affected by delays. foodstamps and the medicare savings program as well. The medicare savings program has 6 people in the dept. for processing applications. There are about 30000 people in that program alone. medicaid is the same. all of the pplications are handled through a small dept at 25 siguorney st in hartford. good luck trying to get in without an appointment. the crazy thing is that if you go there to ask about benefits you will be redirected. you can also try 3580 main st in hartford but im not sure your luck will be any better. federal mandates that title 19 apps, MSP and foodstamps be processed within 30 days. at my last <b>...</b>
