Iraqi Christians - Iraq
December 2010 Christians have lived in Iraq for 2000 years but this Christmas they're not celebrating. Under increasing attack from Islamic fundamentalists are they about to be driven from their ancestral homeland? Meet Canon Andrew White, an Anglican priest who serves the largest congregation of Christians in Baghdad. His service this Christmas could be the last Christmas service to be held in the country which has some of the oldest Christian communities in the world. "I dont want to leave the country. But now this has happened, I fear for my daughters" says the mother of Uday a four-year-old boy killed by Islamic extremists, unfortunately it was not an isolated attack. In the last few months over 1000 families have fled Baghdad after Islamic extremists burst into a church in October, murdering two priests and holding the entire congregation hostage. Now few Christians in Iraq will even attend religious ceremonies for fear of violence. "Even though it's Christmas, and we love this festival, what can we do? We are sad at the moment, so we won't celebrate". At the church where the violence occurred a few still come to worship, the walls behind them still stained with bloody hand prints. "They say to us, the Americans are your people, they're Christians. They say you brought them here. And they kill us for it". The American invasion has radicalised many Iraqis and Christians have become identified with the West and are an easy target.

The Untold Holocaust of Christians in Iraq
BETRAYED BY THE UNITED STATES, THOUSANDS OF IRAQI CHRISTIANS HAVE BEEN SLAUGHTERED BY ISLAMIC FANATICS AFTER SADDAM HUSSEIN'S OVERTHROW. IT IS SLAUGHTER OF HOLOCAUST PROPORTIONS! Former US President George W. Bush's arbitrary and unjust decision to invade and occupy Iraq against the pleas of His Holiness Pope John II and the Iraqi Catholic bishops resulted in exactly what Iraqi bishops and Christians feared: the annihilation of Christianity in Iraq. Having been completely abandoned by US Christians duped into supporting Bush's immoral war of aggression against Iraq, the brave Christians of that war-torned land must now decide whether to stay and face martyrdom or flee the land their ancestors helped to build. Under Saddam Hussein, Iraqi Christians enjoyed protection. After Hussein's overthrow by Bush, Christians were left extremely vulnerable and without any protection from Islamic fanatics. The violence and hostilities have forced an exodus of Christians to Lebanon and Syria. One thing is undeniable: George W. Bush signed the death sentence of Christianity in Iraq and, in the long run, the Middle East. Along the way, he bankrupted America and betrayed those who elected him mistakenly thinking he was a Conservative. Bush will one day face the judgment of God and the tribunal of History for his betrayals and bloody crimes against Christianity and humanity. It is outrageous that US media refuse to report these atrocities. It is also a scandal that both Democrat and ...

IRAQ - REFUGEES: Iraqi Christian refugees continue to arrive in Turkey
IRAQ - REFUGEES: Iraqi Christian refugees continue to arrive in Turkey After a massacre at a church in Karrada, Baghdad on October 31, and amid a wave of attacks against Christians that followed, thousands of Iraqi Christians have been fleeing the country. Most of the refugees are staying in Syria, Jordan and Turkey in the hope they could then emigrate to Europe or the US. Faced with a new diaspora of Iraqi Christians, the Bishop of Baghdad of the Chaldean catholic church, who was in Turkey this (last) week, made an urgent appeal to the international community to help stop the exodus of Iraq's already dwindling Christians. Where God Weeps: Iraqi Christians
On December 4, 2000 the United Nations General Assembly dedicated June 20th as World Refugee Day. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon upon the declaration stated: "No one wants to become a refugee. No one should have to endure this humiliating and arduous ordeal. Yet, millions do. Even one refugee forced to flee, one refugee forced to return to danger is one too many". The ancient city of Amman, capital of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, clings to 19 rolling hills. Amman is the Jordan's political, cultural and commercial centre. The city has also become a safe haven for an estimated 500000 Iraqi refugees, fleeing violence and economic strife in their homeland after the 2003 invasion. Many of these are Christians fleeing religious persecution from Muslim extremists. Because Jordan is not a signatory to the 1951 UN Refugee Convention, Iraqis living here are defined as guests. This means that Iraqis do not have a clear legal status or the right to work. They are not entitled to health care and their children cannot go to public schools. Often this uncertain status drags out for years as they wait for potential countries of resettlement to respond to their application. They also live in fear -- that of being sent back to Iraq. To be sent back, in many cases, is a return to threats, kidnappings and even death. Australia:www.aidtochurch.org States:www.churchinneed.orgGreat Britain:www.acnuk.org/

Christians Who Remain In Iraq Live In An Atmosphere Of Terror
Christians who remain in Iraq live increasingly in an atmosphere of terror. Christian women have been threatened with kidnapping or death if they do not wear a headscarf. Muslim gangs have even terrorized Christian neighborhoods in Baghdad, knocking on doors and demanding payment of the jizya, the religion-based tax assessed by Islamic law against Christians, Jews, and some other groups of non-Muslims who live in Muslim lands. Iraqi Christians today are streaming into Syria, or, if they can, out of the Middle East altogether... (Rescue Christians.org)

Fears over fate of Iraqi Christians
More than 50 Iraqi Christians were killed when an al-Qaeda-linked group attacked a Baghdad church last Sunday. The assault has reverberated among Iraqi Christians in the West. The leader of one such church in London, the UK capital, believes it is time for Iraq's 30,0000 strong Christian minority to leave the country. Al Jazeera's Jonah Hull reports from West London.

Thousands of Muslims Convert to Christianity in Iraq!!! Predicted for the Last Days.mp4
Finally some good news! In the last days Jesus said He would pour out His Spirit upon the world. He is definitely doing that. All throughout history we see that God only allows Christians to be persecuted for the advancement of of His Kingdom. This is proof. While Christians are being persecuted like never before, we see everyday 16000 Muslims convert to Christianity! A lot of them were Muslim religious leaders! Praise God! Beside all the obvious signs Jesus is coming soon and the wickedness of the world... In the last days persecution of Christians will be at its fullest, This century there has been more Christians persecuted then the last three combined. In the last days God will pour out His spirit, in the last century 360 Million Muslims converted to Christianity! God is truly using these Christians to for great things. May we keep them in our prayers

Extermination of Iraqi Christians Triggered by Bush's Invasion
We Must Come to the Aid of Our Christian Brothers in Iraq, Syria, Egypt, and Throughout the Middle East Innocent Christians are being slaughtered in Iraq as a direct result of George W. Bush's immoral and unjust invasion and occupation of Iraq, an invasion condemned by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II and the Catholic Bishops of Iraq. The United States of America will have to answer before Almighty God for the extermination of Christianity in Iraq. The US government's immoral support of Muslim Brotherhood terrorists working to overthrow Syrian president Bashad al Assad will result in yet another bloodbath of Syrian Christians and Christian refugees from other parts of the Middel East. US foreign policy is decidedly in the hands of corrupt supporters of this genocide of Christian in the Middle East. Save & Support Iraqi Christians- Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad (Sayida al-Najat)
Monday, November 1st 2010 ATTACKS ON Our Lady of Salvation Church in Baghdad (Sayida al-Najat) Fifty-two hostages and police officers were killed when security forces raided a Baghdad church to free more than 100 Iraqi Catholics held by al Qaeda-linked gunmen, a deputy interior minister said on Monday. Lieutenant General Hussein Kamal said 67 people were also wounded in the raid on the Syrian Catholic church, which was seized by guerrillas during Sunday mass in the bloodiest attack in Iraq since August. The death toll was many times higher than that given overnight in the hours after the raid. The gunmen took hostages at the Our Lady of Salvation (Sayidat al-Najat) Church, one of Baghdad's largest, and demanded the release of al Qaeda prisoners in Iraq and Egypt. "This death toll is for civilians and security force members. We don't differentiate between police and civilians. They are all Iraqis," Kamal said, adding the number did not include dead attackers. Iraq's Christian minority has frequently been targeted by militants, with churches bombed and priests assassinated. Iraq has about 850000 Christians (around 3% of the population), of which 400000 are Catholics, mostly of the Chaldean and Syrian churches in full communion with Rome. Many Christians have fled the country or have been displaced internally since the US-led invasion in 2003. Officials said the attackers threatened to kill the 120 hostages unless al Qaeda prisoners in Iraq and Egypt were freed. The attack ...

How to Invite people to Grace Compass Church?
Grace Compass Church
7 Steps to More Spiritual Conversations
Here is what I do to engage people in a spiritual conversation:
1. Make it a priority. Be intentional
2. Pray for the opportunities.
3. Get out into the community.
4. Cultivate relationships.
5. Learn to ask good questions.
6. Look for God’s work in people.
7. Guard your heart.
Effective Evangelism Training
Power of the Holy Spirit emphasizes learning God’s vision for evangelism, and developing a passion for personal evangelism. This evangelism conference also seeks to develop practical evangelism skills in cooperating with the Holy Spirit.
The course uses a lot of the principles we teach about cooperating with the Holy Spirit and conversational evangelism, based on Phillip and Ethiopian Eunuch.
Phillip And The Ethiopian Eunuch
By EvangelismCoach • April 24, 2007
Acts Conversions
Let’s look at an “easy conversion,” that of the Ethiopian eunuch in Acts Chapter 8.
This conversion was as simple as picking a ripe mango ready to fall from a tree.
It’s not so much about the Eunuch as it is about Phillip being God’s tool to help the man come to faith.
The fruit is ready
The Fruit is Ready
These are the kinds of evangelistic conversations I love because a person has been prepared by the Lord to this point, and I get to be the one God uses to bring that person into the kingdom.
It reminds me that God is the Evangelist, that the Holy Spirit goes before us to prepare the way, and that when we are obedient to His promptings, the Lord can use us.
The passage: Acts 8:26-40.
Phillip had been directed by the Lord to go on a scavenger hunt. “Go to the south road, the desert road that goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.”
Phillip was then prompted to go and stand near a chariot that was on the road.
Phillip hears a man reading a particular passage from the book of Isaiah.
Phillip asks if he understands.
The man’s response: “How can I unless someone explains it to me? Please tell me who the prophet is talking about.”
Phillip began there and told him the good news about Jesus. The eunuch believed, he took baptism, and went on his way rejoicing, never to see Phillip again.
Reflections:
A seeker:
We know from the text what Phillip didn’t know at first. This man had been coming from Jerusalem, where he had been to worship God. Phillip didn’t know him, but found a man reading out loud from the Old Testament.
This man shows all the signs of one who is spiritualy thirsty.
• He had reworked his schedule to go to Jerusalem on his own.
• He was reading from the Scripture.
• He wanted somebody to explain what he was reading.
• He was willing to search for the truth.
• He was willing to understand.
This man was hungry for the things of God. He was spiritually thirsty. Prepared by God.
All he needed was a person to help explain.
An evangelist.
The Lord used an obedient Phillip to help this man into the kingdom.
Both sides always balance
God worked both sides of the equation, so to speak, putting Phillip and the spiritualy thirsty eunuch in the same place at the same time. This positioning is the Role of the Holy Spirit in Evangelism.
All Phillip had to do in this encounter with a stranger was to obey the promptings of the Holy Spirit.
In other words, Phillip got to work with God.
Phillip didn’t
• need to pry open a hard heart like a can of beans.
• have to waste hours of conversation about the existence of God.
• need to get the Eunuch to the starting point of a Gospel Script
All the talk in the world could not replace the work of God that prepared the eunuch ahead of time.
Luke on summarizes the conversation as “the good news about Jesus”. This was not a Scripted Evangelism Conversation.
So what?
For one brief afternoon, the stories of these two strangers intersected. Phillip was doing his ordinary routine when the Lord prompted him to go to specific place. The eunuch was simply going home after a pilgrimage.
But at one moment, their paths crossed and one man’s destiny was changed.
It is my desire that you spend time asking “God where are you at work?” It’s much easier to cooperate with God’s activity, rather than wasting hours of argument prying open a locked heart.
The key is that Phillip noticed “THAT” Chariot. God underlined the chariot and Phillip positioned himself.
We know that God’s Spirit is at work in us as believers, training us, teaching us, and transforming us.
But, I also want to point out how the Holy Spirit prepares the way for evangelism to occur naturally.
Consider Phillip and the Ethiopian Eunuch. Clearly the Spirit of God was at work in the life of the Eunuch.
• He had gone to Jerusalem to worship.
• He was reading Scripture.
• He wanted someone to explain Scripture to him.
The eunuch had a spiritual thirst, created by the Holy Spirit, and he was busy searching to slake that thirst. He was like the merchant looking for the fine pearl.

Angela Merkel says Christians are persecuted
Angela Merkel says Christians are persecuted German Chancellor Angela Merkel has raised concerns that Christians are the "most persecuted" religious group worldwide, comments which have caused some controversy with opposition parties and human rights organizations. Jewish communities have been persecuted for centuries in many countries across the world, while in certain places Buddhists and Muslims have also faced severe hardship. Following the American invasion in 2003, the Iraqi Christian population has been decimated, with estimates indicating that half of the community has fled to nearby countries, while Coptic Christians in the region have also faced increases in attacks by Islamist extremists since the Arab Spring. Christian Democrat Merkel made the remarks during a meeting of the German protestant Church this week in which she spoke of the need to incorporate the protection of Christian minorities into Germany's foreign policy.

Iraqi Christians bury their dead
Christians in Baghdad, Iraq's capital, have buried their family members killed as a result of a wave of attacks targeting the religious minority community. The unrest has forced thousands of Christians to flee from their homes. In the most recent incident, two Christians were killed from a series of coordinated explosions across the Iraqi capital. It came after gunmen opened fire on worshippers in a cathedral in October, leaving more than 40 of them dead. Rawya Rageh reports from Baghdad.
