Just click "Play All" www.youtube.com Private funeral held this afternoon for the Bee Gees star Robin Gibb who died two and a half weeks ago, at the age of 62, after battling a long illness. Remembered by people the world over as a pivotal member of the super group, the Bee Gees -- along with his brothers Barry & Maurice, Robin co-wrote Night Fever -- one of their many smash hits of the disco era. The tune became the anthem for cult movie Saturday Night Fever, starring a youthful John Travolta. The 1960s and 1970s saw the band have a string of hits like Staying Alive and How Deep is Your Love. Robin made music right through to the present day, even collaborating with a Russian starlet on her debut album. Although there'll be no access to the service for TV cameras, fans were able to see Robin Gibb's funeral cortege drive through his former home of Thame in Oxfordshire this afternoon before the private service at St Mary's Church. His magnificent mind and beautiful heart forever on.

He was 62. Gibb "passed away today following his long battle with cancer and intestinal surgery," said the statement, which was attributed to his family. He died in England at 10 am (5:47 am ET), according to a post on his official Twitter feed. News of his death set off a torrent of reaction in social media. Musician Bryan Adams, for instance, lamented "another great singer dying too young" on Twitter, while fellow British band Duran Duran and current pop sensation Bruno Mars were among many who posted their condolences. "The Bee Gees were/are the gold standard when it comes to pop/r&b melody, harmony and vocal arrangement. Massive loss," wrote prolific pop songwriter Claude Kelly on his Twitter feed. Diagnosed with colon and liver cancer, Gibb had been in a coma as he battled pneumonia earlier this spring, representative Doug Wright said. Robin, along with his brother Maurice, who died in 2003 and elder brother Barry together made up probably one of the most successful singer song-writer groups of all time. It has been estimated that the Bee Gees' career record sales total more than 220 million, making them one of the best-selling music artists of all time. They were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1997. His music will be greatly missed. The trio's pop-songwriting instincts and distinctive high harmonies led to many No. 1 hits over five decades. Asked in 2010 for his greatest achievement, Gibb told The Guardian: "Having the most successful catalog of songs in the world, alongside Lennon and McCartney."
