Baguazhang Jiulong: Applications and Training: Dragon's Gate Stepping Pattern
Dr. Yancy Orchard demonstrates basic Jiulong Baguazhang principles with the Rolling the Pearl posture on location in Dr. John Painter's Gompa and in Saskatoon, SK, near the Xin Fu Gompa. Each of the elements presented in this brief clip demonstrates the versatility of this seemingly simple method. Walk in a circle, cut through the centre with a simple posture change. Apply that posture change to stationary poles, moving poles, props with obstacles, and live partners. Plese take the time to notice the variations presented are the same simple movement, sometimes using the lead arm, sometimes the rear arm, sometimes stepping to the outside of the foe, sometimes to the inside, sometimes lifting up, cutting down, pressing forward, and so forth. The purpoe of the clip is to help current students develop freedom and versatility in their concept of the movement. There are no techniques, per se, demonstrated here. Everything demonstrated grew organically, spontaneously from one movement to another. Master the basics and infinite expression freely manifests. Ball and Wedge On the most basic level the shape of the arms is that of a triangle (or wedge) piercing forward while supported internally with the fullness of an inflated rubber ball. In Jiulong Baguazhang, we use the shape of the wedge to neutralize attacks. There is no lateral push, merely a thrust forward that intercepts the oncoming attack and naturally deflects it by the width of the wedge. Take the Spine at First Touch ...

Baguazhang Dragon Form: Montaigue
www.taijiworld.com MTG279 Baguazhang Dragon Form: Full. Finally, Erle Montaigue has begun the huge task of documenting the original Animal Forms. The Animal Qi Awaking forms teach one how to gain and store the Qi. The Full Animal forms teach you how to release this stored energy. Dragon: The Dragon is unpredictable; he leaps, twists and undulates. His organ is the whole of the middle of the abdomen and associated organs. His family member is the eldest son and his attribute is Thunder. Because he represents the 'centre' the dragon also represents the whole body joining the spiritual (shen) with the earth. The Dragon is possibly one of the most beautiful of the Animal forms although it is impossible to choose one of the eight as all are very potent in the self defence area as well as the healing area.

Baguazhang For Police
Combat Baguazhang for Police Fire Palm Strike and Throw PKC™ is the name of a close quarter combat system taught through the American Rangers Martial Law Enforcement Training Center (ARMLETI) to law enforcement, corrections officers and body guards. Over 30000 officers have been introduced to PKC methods that range from hand to hand tactics, edge weapon tactics as well as the use of firearms, rifles, machine guns and more. These methods are based upon the Li family Jiulong Baguazhang concepts as taught and used by Li. Long-dao and his father Li, Zhang Lai who worked as bodyguards (Baobiao 保鏢) in Sichuan province China and later as combat trainers for the army of Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石/ 蔣中正). John P. Painter the instructor in these clips holds the rank of Captain in the ARMLETI trainers program. He is also the author of two best selling books titled Combat Baguazhang The Nine Dragon System Volume 1 & 2 and a six DVD series titled, Nine Dragon Baguazhang for Street Combat from Beckett Media productions. These video clips were filmed in 1993 for a production presenting PKC to the law enforcement community. These tactics were originally taught and sold only to LEO trainers will soon be re-mastered and available as a DVD set for the general public. For information on instruction or products concerning Jiulong Baguazhang and PKC contact Capt. John P. Painter at Thegompa@aol.com

(八卦掌) Baguazhang Circle Walking Practice pt1 of 3 (Postures 1 - 3 of 8)
Postures number 1, 2, and 3. Baguazhang Circle Walking Practice - The foundation of this martial art. It combines stance training with qigong, strength and conditioning the legs, and strength and conditioning the torso and upper body and arms, while in constant motion. It also trains footwork. The upper body static posture are from my teacher's Baguazhang, these first three postures are: 1) Eagle; 2) Tiger; 3) Dragon. The stepping method is Tang Ni Bu (muddy step) and turning steps are Ko Bu and Bai Bu (toe-in step and toe-out step aka hook step and swing step) --- www.jiangschool.com --- www.jiangschool.com Baguazhang is a great martial art, but takes time (years) and dedication to learn it correctly and master it, and know how to use it.

Pa Kua Chang (Eight Trigram Palms) Basic Technique Form
As I understand it this form was developed by Jiang Rong Qiao and I thank those who pointed that out to me. The chart itself gives no hint as to authorship. I had waited patiently almost nine years to learn this style which my instructor, Sifu Muri Parsons, started to demonstrate a long time ago near the beginning of my introduction to baguazhang.
