GATA's Bill Murphy on the JP Morgan Silver Shortage and the next Bullion Bank Run!
Follow us @ twitter.com twitter.com Welcome to Capital Account. Gold futures slipped ahead of the ECB policy-setting meeting this week, or so the story goes. Do these macro trends drive gold prices as much as the headlines indicate? Our guest Bill Murphy, Chairman of GATA, doesn't think so and he has flown to our studio in Washington DC to make the case. Last month after a report surfaced that US regulators planned to drop the silver market manipulation probe, CFTC Commissioner Bart Chilton described the report as premature and inaccurate. We haven't heard much since, but our guest Bill Murphy has an update on the bank at the center of silver manipulation claims, JP Morgan. JP Morgan has a major problem with their massive short position according to GATA. Bill believes that it won't be long before their role in the market manipulation scheme is exposed. Meanwhile, the silver market maybe the tightest it has ever been to secure physical supply in size, and delivery can take months. Bill Murphy, author of LeMetropoleCafe.com, forecasts the bank will have a problem with its short silver position in the near future. Could it explode this month? He says yes and explains why. Also, today's gold and silver markets are not the same your father's precious metals markets. The creation of Gold and Silver ETFs, as well as the growth of the precious metals derivatives market, has had a dramatic effect on prices. We talk to Bill Murphy about how growth in precious metals derivatives ...

The typo-animation Kapitaal (Capital) is an impression of the enormous amount of visual stimuli that plague us every day. The amount is so big that its commercial effectiveness has become utterly dubious.

Capital I and Lower Case N (No Logo's)
Two haunting and Magical little songs from Sesame Street. Steve Zuckerman is so cool! 'Capital I' was the second thing I looked up on YouTube ever! So glad it was available to watch because it was so influential to my life and my interest in music ('The Butterfly-ball' film-clip to the song 'Love is All' was the first thing I looked up). Steve Zuckerman is a composer for television and movies, a songwriter, and a singer who wrote songs for at least three animated Sesame Street inserts: "I in the Sky," "Lowercase N," and "Imagination Rain." In an "Ask the AV Club" column on the AV Club Web site of The Onion, Zuckerman recalled the experience of creating the songs: " It was just me doing the harmony and the melody—I think it was using a 4-track and bouncing tracks back and forth. That's pretty much how I did all of them. I remember recording them around 1970 at Valentine Recording Studios (in the San Fernando Valley) for Fred Calvert Productions. I was just starting out (I had just turned 20) in my musical career as the studio's music director, and along with various other submitters, we proposed segments to CTW based on their rather detailed and voluminous source and research materials. In each of these segments, the songs were created first. The first segment (which I also performed and wrote) is still my personal favorite—"Imagination Rain," which ran for about 15 or 20 years. " BTW there is a great Guitar and vocal Tab/Music chart for Capital I at www.ultimate-guitar ...

Capital Metro Bus Hit By A Nick
An energetic freshman student will always be remembered, as the boy who lived. I did not film this, but was present at the epic foam sword fight. Update: No buses present in this video were fatally injured. www.statesman.com Bus driver running a red light: CONFIRMED; I will be posting that video soon. The student, Nick, is fine and was released from the hospital around 3:45PM the same day, May 4th, 2012. I also feel the need to clarify the situation to those unfamiliar with the roads around UT campus. This sword fight took place on Guadalupe St just in front of the Co-op. The "crosswalk", is understood to be the entire section in between the two striped areas. Nick was wearing an Obama mask. Remember kids, always look both ways

1:00 Welcome everyone to episode 69, season 3 of This Week in Venture Capital. My guest today is Nate Redmond. Nate, tell us a bit about Rustic Canyon Venture Partners. 4:30 What changes going on right now do you perceive in our industry? 8:00 Is your model still a hands on approach? 10:15 Do you the LPs are more open-minded to single VC funds today? 12:00 It seems like there's a shift in the VC world to more ex-entrepreneurs. Is that a real trend? 15:00 Question from the chat: Are VCs moving to be consulting companies in some parts? 16:15 Thank you to Detroit Venture Partners for their support of the show. 22:00 Mark's book recommendation: American Pastoral by Philip Roth 23:00 Question from the audience: Do VCs have a preference for startups that choose to work with incubators? 28:00 Nate discusses his partnership with the company Science, run by Mike Jones. 30:30 Mike Jones is one of the five most prolific angel investors in southern California. And I suspect that, at Myspace, he got a lot of experience on how to run a product at scale. 33:15 Have you noticed a change from 2003 to now in the "serendipity factor" of Santa Monica? 36:00 Nate: The culture in LA is by far the most entrepreneurial culture in the country. I saw a study out of the Kauffman foundation that said the rate of startups in LA is higher than anywhere else in the country. 39:00 Tell me a little bit about Gaikai and how you got involved. 41:45 As a publisher, did I have to do a lot more engineering ...

Notte Sento (English subtitles)
A girl misses her train to Milan and is set to wait overnight in Rome until dawn. However, a chance encounter with a guy changes her plans and the night lights of the capital turn into the background to a tender love story. An extraordinary chemistry made of knowing glances and small gestures fills the few instants that separate them both from the sunrise.

Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop
The latter half of the 20th century saw the built environment merged with media space, and architecture taking on new roles related to branding, image and consumerism. Augmented reality may recontextualise the functions of consumerism and architecture, and change in the way in which we operate within it.
A film produced for my final year Masters in Architecture, part of a larger project about the social and architectural consequences of new media and augmented reality.

Norway has recently reached 5 million inhabitants and the capital is growing rapidly. The city scene in Oslo is steadily thickening with taller buildings, more people and the never-ending construction sites. Being by far the most populated city in Norway with 613 000 inhabitants, most Norwegians look to Oslo as a major capital. However, if one compares Oslo to other international capitals, Oslo only ranks as the 112th largest. Oslo is indeed a major capital, just a small one…
The production of this video was made out of 76 940 single photos, edited as a video after a lot of work. The video was filmed under the warmest march month ever in Oslo. I have never been on so many rooftops as I had the week I filmed this, a really fun experience. I used tilt-shift lenses to create the miniature effect

The Killing Joke
A Short Film by Sebastian Lopez
The Killing Joke is a 15 minute suspense/fiction short film about a mysterious woman that finds a red balloon tied up to a curious little box on an eery derelict street. Using classic elements of suspense and working within a seventies aesthetic, 'The Killing Joke' is an action packed film that pays homage to some of the horror movies from that era.
The piece was shot during four intense days of filming in the Argentinian capital Buenos Aires. The micro budget production was shot using just two 7d canon cameras. The composition and CGI effects for 'The Killing Joke' required months of 'invisible' digital retouching to create the panoramic, yet claustrophobic atmosphere that pervades throughout the movie.
The Film editor was Sabrina Mottino.
Sebastián López wrote and directed the story, and was also responsible for all the impressive post and composition work.
Colin Devlin created the Original Soundtrack, working from his home studio in LA he collaborated on the project with Sebastian from it's inception, creating a wonderful striking symmetry between sound and image. This is the second collaboration for Sebastian and Colin, the first being an action packed trailer created for a fictitious movie called 'Vertical' that went viral on the net, creating a serious buzz for the young director.
Actors Gustavo Marzo and Clarisa Staracci Worked together to portray the intense characters seen on screen.
The Killing Joke was a work of entire dedication and effort.
