Jesus 101 - The Davidic King (Part 2 of 3)
Elizabeth Talbot presents the thirteenth episode, "The Davidic King", in her Jesus 101 series. God does fulfill His promises, even though His timing may be different than ours. The promises of a ruler from the line of David throughout the Jewish Scriptures were fulfilled in Jesus. He is the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, and He has power over any problem that you may be facing today.

The Great Camera Shootout 2011: Episode 1 ~ "The Tipping Point"
In the most scientific camera comparison to date, "The Great Camera Shootout 2011: a documentary of the Single Chip Camera Evaluation (SCCE)" premieres with Episode 1: ''The Tipping Point." The first episode of the 3-part web series examines three SCCE Tests: The Dynamic Range Test, The Under Exposure Test and The Over Exposure Test.
Robert Primes, ASC, designed and administered the full series of tests. "That's right," says Web Series Director Steve Weiss,"We didn't want people to think that these tests were biased in any way. So Bob created the SCCE as an independent organization to conduct the testing." Additionally, Bob Primes designed the tests with his own technicians and selected the cameras to be tested.
The impressive 12-Camera line-up includes: 35mm Kodak 5213 & 5219 Film, Arri Alexa, RED ONE M-X, Weisscam HS-2, Phantom Flex, Sony F-35, Sony F3, Panasonic AG-AF100, Canon 5D Mark II, Canon 1D Mark IV, Canon 7D and Nikon D7000. In addition to the SCCE tests, the web series features commentary from some of the top DPs in the industry, which was filmed at worldwide screening locations in Sydney, Amsterdam, New York, London, Las Vegas (NAB) and Hollywood "You'll hear from indie filmmakers, event shooters, commercial DPs, directors and corporate filmmakers," says Steve Weiss, "Although you are not watching these tests in a 2K theatrical setting, hearing such commentary from people in the ASC, BSC, ACS, CSC, NSC, ICG and the SOC, will help you evaluate the significance of these tests."
This first episode of the series looks at the dynamic range and usable latitude of each camera. "We need to see how these cameras record real scenes," says Jens Bogehegn. Thus, Bob Primes, ASC, designed an under-exposure scene and an over-exposure scene. In regards to methodology, the camera master had to set their camera to record the widest dynamic range and they were not allowed to change any settings between the two scenes. The combination of both of these scenes will show the usable dynamic range of each camera. The featured scenes are shot by Michael Bravin and lit by Matt Siegel and Nancy Schreiber, ASC.
***The featured tests include three scenes: a back-lit test chart shot by Michael Bravin, an under-exposure scene lit by Matt Siegel and an over-exposure scene lit by Nancy Schreiber, ASC.

Locomotive - Place des Arts - Espace culturel
“Locomotive”, the most recent addition to the mosaic screen installation in the foyer of Place des Arts, is a fantastical portrayal of a human machine.
The context resembles an elaborate organic dominos game. It begins with a musical impulse and is accompanied by an inexorable advancement of light.
Human flesh makes up a patchwork of glittering metallic members - which have the luster of new pistons and bolts - engendering a hybrid mass.
Caught in awkward tension, the bodies quiver in suspension, the movement becoming increasingly intense until released by the passing impulse.
The carefully synchronized three-dimensional chain reaction of image, sound and light dehumanizes the body while simultaneously makes us smile. Uncomfortable yet intrigued, the eye of the passer cannot turn away from the machine. The complexity of the work lies in its ambiguity of being funny, monstrous, and sensual all at the same time.
The totality of this intriguing puzzle is best seen by taking a step back. However, in order to observe and appreciate the detail of the movement, it is equally engaging to advance forward. Each gear, wheel and suture plays its role to tie the whole piece together.
For this project, in lieu of creating a work that is intrinsically promotional, Place des Arts has taken the risk of acting as a sponsor and distributor of this purely artistic and cinematic endeavor.
Conceived with the intention of using the proposed space - its limitations and constraints – in the pursuit giving life to a custom made creation, “Locomotive” highlights the artistic potential of the mosaic screens in the foyer.

Superfad Directs Colorful Vision in "Eye Candy" for Sony BRAVIA HDTV
Superfad’s new in-store campaign for Sony is a startlingly beautiful and surreal homage to Sony’s global brand message of “make.believe” and a tribute to the pleasure of “Eye Candy”. Unfolding in three parts, “Birth of Color,” “Explosion of Color,” and “Release of Color,” the project was directed and produced by Superfad and will be seen in stores and trade shows throughout the world.
The concept was inspired by the idea that from one’s imagination anything is possible. Drawing from the theatrical world of fashion photography, Superfad chose moments of visual drama and magic, with spherical objects representing the dot in “make.believe” as a connecting through-line.
Superfad Director/Executive Creative Director Will Hyde captured a live action, slow motion narrative with imagery that would showcase the picture value of Sony BRAVIA high definition televisions including color fidelity and detail. The project’s effects and animation, completed in just under three weeks, was creative directed by Carlos Stevens.
The project keenly represents Superfad’s methodology; one that eschews a singular signature style in favor of applying project-specific creative approaches to reveal the unexpected. With Sony’s “Eye Candy,” the blending of live action and animation comes together in a seamless marriage of visual intensity and wonder.
