Philip Irvin Bailey (born May 8, 1951) is an American R&B, soul, gospel and funk singer, songwriter, percussionist and actor, best known as one of the longtime members of the band Earth, Wind & Fire. Noted for his four octave vocal range and distinctive falsetto register, Bailey has won seven Grammy Awards. He was inducted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame and the Vocal Group Hall of Fame as a member of Earth, Wind & Fire. Bailey was also inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame for his work with the band. He forms the heart of the current EWF line-up on stage along with Verdine White and Ralph Johnson and recently, Bailey's son, Philip Jr.
Bailey has released several solo albums, including 1984's Chinese Wall. Chinese Wall included the global hit, "Easy Lover", a duet with Phil Collins. "Easy Lover" won an MTV Video Music Award for Best Overall Performance in 1985 and was Grammy nominated for Best Pop Vocal Performance By A Duo or Group.
Bailey was born and raised in Denver, Colorado. He attended East High School in Denver, graduating in 1969. He also was in a local R&B band called Friends & Love Some of Bailey's early influences included jazz musicians such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane and Max Roach, the Motown sound, in particular the music of Stevie Wonder and he was also was largely influenced by female singers such as Sarah Vaughn and Dionne Warwick.

Philip David Charles "Phil" Collins, LVO (born 30 January 1951) is an English singer-songwriter, drummer, pianist and actor best known as a drummer and vocalist for British progressive rock group Genesis and as a solo artist.
Collins sang the lead vocals on several chart hits in the United Kingdom and the United States between 1975 and 2010, either as a solo artist or with Genesis. His singles, sometimes dealing with lost love, ranged from the drum-heavy "In the Air Tonight", dance pop of "Sussudio", piano-driven "Against All Odds", to the political statements of "Another Day in Paradise".
Collins's professional music career began as a drummer, originally in a band called The Real Thing with Andrea Bertorelli, who later became his first wife. Collins played drums and shared lead vocals (with Brian Chatton) in Flaming Youth which recorded one album, (Ark II). In 1970, he took over drums for Genesis, which had already recorded two albums. In Genesis, Collins originally supplied backing vocals for front man Peter Gabriel, singing lead on only two songs: "For Absent Friends" from 1971's Nursery Cryme album and "More Fool Me" from Selling England by the Pound, which was released in 1973. Following Gabriel's departure in 1975, Collins became the group's lead singer.

When I created the show I was looking for a way to spotlight artist that were coming into the Bay Area market, but not getting the exposure they truely deserved. This interview with Phillip Bailey, lead singer of the group Earth Wind and Fire, was one of the first we aired on Magic Number Video. When I created the show I was looking for a way to spotlight artist that were coming into the Bay Area market, but not getting the exposure they truely deserved. My sister Ricki Stevenson (former National Black Network anchor, KCBS Radio News anchor, Travel Network correspondant), did the interview and I got to do what I really enjoy, and that is being behind the camera.
