Understand what chemotherapy is and why it often plays a large part in cancer treatment. Related Videos: Coping with Chemotherapy (part 2 of 2) | HealthiNation www.youtube.com True Life Story: Chemotherapy | HealthiNation www.youtube.com Transcript: What Is Chemotherapy? Chemotherapy is a type of drug treatment that's been used for the last 50 years to treat cancer. It is typically used to attempt to rid the body of all cancer cells, shrink the size of cancer before surgery, or to relieve the symptoms and improve the quality of life for those with cancer. How Does Chemotherapy Work? Chemotherapy works by infusing chemicals, or drugs, into the body. These drugs move throughout the body to kill cells that multiply and divide rapidly, like cancer cells do. This treatment can shrink or sometimes eliminate cancer all together. And, since the drugs reach all parts of the body, the treatment can be effective even if the disease has spread. Unfortunately, chemotherapy drugs are not able to distinguish the difference between cancerous and healthy cells that divide and rapidly multiply. This means that healthy cells in areas of the body like the bone marrow, the digestive system, or the hair follicles, may be killed too in the process. How Is Chemotherapy Treatment Given? Chemotherapy can be administered as a pill, an injection or sometimes it's applied as a skin cream. It can be given at any stage in the cancer treatment, and will often be part of a larger treatment strategy. For ...

Lucas' Port Access for Chemotherapy (Vincristine)
6 yr old having port accessed for chemotherapy (vincristine). Caution: The video shows the needle being inserted into the port and some blood being drawn. Update: December 2009. Lucas is doing well - his last treatment was in June 2008. He gets his next set of scans in January 2009 and we are praying for "NED" - no evidence of disease. Lucas was diagnosed with a brain tumour in April 2007. He had it resected, underwent 30 rounds of radiation, and is undergoing chemotherapy. He is in his 5th round in this video. Cancer Help: How to Apply Makeup During Chemotherapy
Have you become Agoraphobic in the face of Cancer? I created this Makeup Tutorial for Women going through Chemotherapy because, as a Breast Cancer Fighter (and soon, Survivor!), I found it discouraging that so many of the women we see on television and in the media (like Celia in WEEDS, Lynette in DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, and Samantha in SEX AND THE CITY) are depicted as just having buzzed hair or bald heads. If you've had cancer and chemo, you know that's NOT what you look like! Your hair thins, often not fallling completely out. You lose your eyebrows and eyelashes - often you don't even recognize yourself when you look in the mirror!! It can be very discouraging and you don't want to go out in public. It doesn't have to be that way. With just a little effort, you can put your face together and feel more comfortable going out in public and not feeling like a freakshow. You just have to rediscover makeup again! Let this video be your inspiration, and check out other YouTube Channels like MichellePhan and MakeupGeek (women who are way, way more talented than me!). ***IF YOU LIKED THIS VIDEO, CHECK OUT MY BOOK, "RECIPE FOR LEMONADE" NOW AVAILABLE AT AMAZON.COM!! bit.ly You will need: - Smashbox "Try Me" Eye Kit - Smashbox High Definition Healthy FX Foundation - Foundation Sponge or Brush - MAC Studio Sculpt Concealer - EcoTools Brushes - Smashbox Halo Hydrating Perfecting Powder - Kiss Me Mascara in Dark Brown - GloMinerals gloBlush Duo in Petunia - Joey New York Super Duper ...

Curing Cancer Without Chemotherapy
Curing Cancer without Chemotherapy Is it possible to cure cancer without using chemotherapy or only using low doses of chemotherapy? FOX 7's Loriana Hernandez spoke with a Houston doctor who says that is possible and that he has done just that. Dr. Stanley Burzynski runs a clinic in Houston where he treats cancer with a medical discovery he made in the 1970's. Instead of traditional treatments, he targets specific affected genes and not the entire body. He said that his research showed that people with cancer are missing peptides in their blood. He uses peptides, derivatives, and mixtures to make a drug he calls antineoplastins to treat the cancer. LINK: Burzynskiclinic.com

How Cleansing Cures Cancer: Evita Ramparte's Story
The relationship between unhealthy eating and the development of disease is undeniable. When most people get a cancer diagnosis their doctors are quick to prescribe drugs and harsh treatments such as radiation, chemotherapy, and surgery. All of these treatments have a harrowing effect on the body opening it up to a whole host of other problems. Holistic health practitioners, on the other hand, will often recommend detoxification methods such as cleansing to eliminate cancer from the body.
Here Allison Biggar interviews European journalist and ovarian cancer survivor Evita Ramparte about how she cured her cancer naturally through a raw vegan diet without chemotherapy, surgery or radiation. For more information please visit http://www.holisticvoice.org.

How Cells Divide and How Chemotherapy Works
A cell is the functional basic unit of life, often called the building block of life. Humans have about 100 trillion cells. You body is constantly producing new cells. In this program, we will discuss how cells divide, how chemotherapy affects cells that are dividing, and how chemotherapy affects cancer cells. When a normal cell divides, it goes through a series of steps, including a duplication of its DNA, which contains the genetic instructions used in the development and functioning of living organisms. The end result of the cell division is the formation of two identical daughter cells. Let's begin to explore how this process happens. The cell goes through many distinct steps as it divides. After a cell's initial formation, it goes into an inactive resting phase called G zero. The cell then grows larger in size and makes proteins. These are important for the next step. This phase is called G1. The cell creates two copies of its DNA in preparation for dividing. This is called the S phase. After a second growth phase called G2, the cell continues to grow and make more proteins for the final stage. The cell finally splits into two cells and the two copies of DNA are distributed equally between the two daughter cells. This is called the M phase or mitosis. This completes the process of cell division. In normal cells, there are checkpoints at every stage of this process to make sure that cells grow and divide in a regulated way. In cancer cells, these checkpoints are ...
