Aquascaping - Aquarium Ideas from nature (karst spring)
FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com YOUTUBE: www.youtube.com SITE: definiteaquascape.tv The purpose of this video is to serve as an inspiration for all the aquarists and aquascapers who are interested in natural underwater biotopes. This is how karst spring looks like. There are almost no aquatic plants underwater, nor are there any fish, which is surprising, because there is a lot o fish food in the water (small Crustaceans). Aquascape of karst spring can be recreated in aquarium quite easily - you don't need expensive LED lighting, CO2 supply system or aquarium plant fertilizers. All what is needed are some stones and driftwood used as decoration, as well as some dried leaves put on the aquarium substrate. However, quite good filtration system should be used. First, becasue there are no aquarium plants which help to keep the water clean, second, because it would be good to create current, which is also present in the spring. If one would like to keep coldwater fish in such biotope aquarium, I would strongly advise to use aquarium chiller to keep water temperature below 10-15 Celsius degrees.

White Cloud Mountain Minnow Biotope
I set this biotope aquarium up for Practical Fishkeeping. It was featured in the December 2009 issue. A photo of this tank was the cover image for the magazine. The rocks were collected in Cornwall. There are 12 fish, Tanichthys albonubes. Substrate is play sand and pea gravel for decoration. The tank is 60x30x30cm and holds around 50 litres. It is filtered with a larger external filter and glass pipework to minimise the impact of the equipment on the aquascape. It's the cheapest and simplest aquarium I have ever set up, but one of my favourites.

ADG Amazon Biotope: Angels with Fry
Our Amazon tank here in the ADG Gallery has had a couple of pairs of these wild caught angelfish spawn with fry reaching the free-swimming stage. While not an especially difficult fish to breed, it is always rewarding and very enjoyable to watch these cycles of nature play out right before your eyes. Be sure to watch this one in HD to take in the detail of the fry and subdued lighting environment throughout.

ADGVibe Presents: An Amazon Biotope (preview)
This is a preview for the upcoming feature-length presentation of our newest installation into the forthcoming ADG Gallery inside our new retail concept store. The Amazon Biotope Aquarium: Inspired by our studies of Heiko Bleher's now famous books and texts documenting his decades of exploration and discovery in the Amazon, we sought here to meld our passion for hardscape-design with a truer sense of the natural environments of some of the Amazon's most legendary aquarium species.

11/6/12: Thanks for the views folks! Sad to say the discus are no-more for me. Ended up getting rid of the discus and went for a mix of semi-peaceful CA/SA cichlids. Much easier to maintain and keep up with. Here's a current photo: farm9.staticflickr.com See more details: www.monsterfishkeepers.com
