I think that the way the authorities are treating Gaskarov and Solopov is needlessly harsh and cruel. It’s barbarism: it’s wrong to put people in a pretrial detention facility for two months for a few slogans [painted on a wall]. I think that this sort of “show of strength” is simply proof of the fact that the authorities are powerless to solve this problem. There would have been no attack on the Khimki town hall if the authorities had resolved the problem of the Khimki Forest in a timely and civilized manner. Moskovan esikaupunkialueen Himkin metsää puolustaneiden kansalaisaktivistien vapauttamiseksi julistettiin kansainväliset toimintapäivät 17.–20. syyskuuta 2010.

28. heinäkuuta 2010 Moskovan esikaupunkialueella sijaitsevan Himkin kaupunginvaltuuston edessä noin 200 anarkistia ja antifasistia osoitti spontaanisti mieltään Himkin metsän puolesta. Samaan aikaan metsää jo hakattiin Venäjän ensimmäisen maksullisen moottoritien alta pois. Mielenosoitus, jonka aikana rikottiin muutama ikkunaa, sai suuren huomion venäläisissä tiedotusvälineissä. Vallanpitäjät vastasivat jyrkillä painostustoimenpiteillä.

Mielenosoitusta seuravana päivänä pidätettiin kaksi tunnettua kansalaisaktivistia: Aleksei Gaskarov ja Maksim Solopov. Heitä uhkaa seitsemän vuotta vankeutta huliganismista, vaikka heidän osallisuudestaan laittomaan toimintaan ei ole mitään todisteita. Moskovan turvallisuuspalvelu yrittää saada kiinni myös muita kansalaisaktivisteja, erityisesti antifasisteja.

Aleksei Gaskarov ja Maksim Solopov kuuluvat niihin harvoihin kansalaisaktivisteihin, jotka ovat julkisuudessa edustaneet omilla nimillään ja kasvojaan peittämättä Moskovan Antifa-liikettä. Nuoret kansalaisaktivistit ovat osallistuneet aktiivisesti Moskovan esikaupunkialueen Himkin metsän puolustamiseen. Kampanja Himkin metsän puolesta jatkuu jo kolmatta vuotta. Vallanpitäjien suunnitelman mukaan uuden Moskovasta Pietariin menevän moottoritien tulee kulkea juuri Himkin metsän läpi. Tämän takia alueen ekologinen tilanne huononee, ja paikalliset asukkaat ja moskovalaiset menettävät jälleen yhden ulkoilualueen. Paikalliset aktivistit ja ympäristöaktivistit vastustavat Himkin metsän läpi kaavoitettua moottoritietä, ja tuovat esille jo olemassaolevia vaihtoehtoisia kartoitusmalleja, joissa ei edellytetä metsän hakkaamista.Read more...

Die Ermittlungen zu dem Angriff auf die Stadtverwaltung in Chimki läuft auf Hochtouren. Die Verdächtigen Aleksej Gaskarov und Maxim Solopov befinden sich bereits seit fast einen Monat im Untersuchungsgefängnis in Mozhajsk. Den Eltern wird der Besuch ihres Sohnes ohne Angabe von Gründen verweigert.

„Das letzte Mal haben wir Aljoscha am 3. August flüchtig gesehen, beim zweiten Haftprüfungstermin“, sagt Irina, die Mutter von Gaskarov. „Seither ist es uns nicht gelungen wenigstens einen Besuchstermin zu erwirken. Innerhalb eines Monats wurde uns eine Absage ohne Angabe von Gründen erteilt. Der Leiter der Ermittlergruppe versprach mit seinen Vorgesetzten zu sprechen. Danach teilte er deren mündliche Antwort mit: der Besuch wird verweigert. Die Erklärung da zu hat mit einfach umgeworfen: „Weil Aleksej seine Schuld nicht eingestehen will.“ Es versteht sich von selbst, dass es nichts einzugestehen gibt, und wir brauchen keinen Besuchstermin zu einem solchen Preis.

Da ich alle Fragen mündlich regele, habe ich nichts in der Hand, wenn das rechtswidrige Vorgehen der Ermittler zur Sprache kommt. Deshalb werde ich eine schriftliche Ablehnung einholen, sie sollen sich eine angemessene Erklärung für ihr Vorgehen ausdenken.“ Read more...

In a historically courageous struggle people in Russia have been able to halt the construction of a high way through the Khimki forest. While the forests were burning all over Russia the authorities started a wave of detaining, torturing and harassing people in movements defending the Khimki forest close to Moscow. They need our solidarity.

We call upon the whole international environmental and social justice movement and all wanting to stop criminalization of protest to support our friends in Russia. Take action on 17-20 September! Follow the call enclosed below issued by The Campaign for the Release of the Khimki Hostages for making actions at embassies and other places representing Russia.

Immediate actions are necessary. The decision by president Medvedev to halt the construction of the high way is only temporary. The heavy repression of the protest movement and especially the antifascist activists makes no halt. Environmentalists, human rights activists, journalists fighting corruption, Anarchists and other antifascists, alter globalization movement, Liberal, Communist and Left wing parties have been able to struggle in solidarity in the midst of heavy repression achieving this first victory.
