Understanding Paul - Galatians 1
The Epistle of Paul to the Galatians, usually referred to simply as Galatians, is the ninth book of the New Testament. It is a letter from Paul of Tarsus to a number of Early Christian communities in the Roman province of Galatia in central Anatolia. The author is principally concerned with the controversy surrounding Gentile Christians and the Mosaic Law within Early Christianity, see also Paul of Tarsus and Judaism. Along with the Epistle to the Romans, it is the most theologically significant of the Pauline epistles, and has been particularly influential in Protestant thought. Paul is thought to have composed this letter in grave concern and agitation. Indeed it is a rebuke to the Galatians. No original of the letter is known to survive. The earliest reasonably complete version available to scholars today, named P46, dates to approximately the year 200 AD, approximately 150 years after the original was presumably drafted. This fragmented papyrus, parts of which are missing, almost certainly contains errors introduced in the process of being copied from earlier manuscripts. However, through careful research relating to paper construction, handwriting development, and the established principles of textual criticism, scholars can be rather certain about where these errors and changes appeared and what the original text probably said. Outline I. Introduction (1:1-10) A. Salutation (1:1-5) B. Denunciation (1:6-10) II. Personal: Defense of Paul's Apostleship (1:11--2:21) A ...

Jim Staley - Understanding Galatians - Part 1 of 2
(to purchase the DVD of this teaching, please go to marketplace at www.passionfortruth.com)The Book of Galatians is perhaps one of the most misunderstood books in the entire Bible. Paul was one of the most intelligent rabbis of his day. There were few rabbis of his time that could come even close to his knowledge and zeal for the Torah. It is from this Hebraic perspective that Paul writes to the assembly at Galatia. Unfortunately, over the past 2000 years, Paul's words have been radically misunderstood that he is against the Law of God. Was he really against something that he himself says in Romans 3:31 that "he upholds", or is he against something all together different? This in-depth, verse by verse study details the letter to the Galatians bringing to light history, culture and nuances that you have likely never seen before. You will be enlightened and shocked at how much you have missed once you see his letters through the original Hebraic mindset.

Why Galatians is so relevant today.
Galatians scholar Michael Hegeman (Ph.D., Princeton Theological Seminary) speaks on the Darkwood Brew internet program about why the apostle Paul's letter to the Galatians is so relevant in today's world - and why its often misunderstood message is so important. Darkwood Brew is hosting a series on Galatians called "Abrasive Grace," steaming live at 6pm EST on Sundays at 6pm EST, from March 13-April 17, 2011. Romans and Galatians | School of Messianic Theology Teaching
mjbi.org | Click on this link for a free preview of one of our courses and additional school information. This course is a general survey of Paul's letters to the congregations in Rome and Galatia. There is a particular emphasis on practical issues related to personal spiritual life and doctrinal understanding, but it also deals with difficult passages related to Messianic Judaism. Participants in this class will learn of the power of the Gospel to transform lives as the class focuses on the meaning and impact of terms such as justification, sanctification, adoption, righteousness, condemnation, sonship, and other terms that are key to understanding Paul's purposes in these letters. The student will learn how believers are to understand the present day validity and relevance of the Torah or Law, even while considering statements indicating believers are "no longer under" law. The class will bring clarity on law versus grace issues, as well as help the student understand the importance of freedom from legalism while still embracing the Torah itself. Also discussed is the importance and place of Israel in Paul's thinking. While treated as a survey, special emphasis is given to Romans chapters 1-8 and the relevance of this material to practical spiritual life. www.mjbi.org | Click this link to learn more about the Messianic Jewish Bible Institute international schools and our English speaking e-learning school. Second Galatians
2 Galatians By Lars Ulrich Zwingli 1 Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the permissive will of God, to the faithful saints and carnal brethren at Galatia who are chosen together with us. 2 Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ. 3 Since I last wrote you I've been thinking. I may have gone a little overboard. I feel really bad about some of the things I said. 4 Timothy pointed out I said something about other preachers being "eternally condemned". I didn't really mean it. 5 I now realize that was way out of line, and to those guys preaching another gospel I would just like to say, "I'm sorry." 6 You see, I was fresh out of seminary at the time, and very dogmatic; now I understand that doctrine divides. 7 All that really matters is that we love people. I'm sure the Judaizers have the best of intentions, and I have no right to be so judgmental about their ministry. 8 I've even met a few of them, and they seem to have really good hearts. 9 At another place in my writing, I believe I may have said that you Galatians were "foolish". How arrogant of me. 10 I guess my knowledge had puffed me up. 11 But I will make no excuses. I really feel like the Lord's telling me I need to stop looking down on people, and besides, godly men have debated these things for centuries. 12 What makes me think I know better than them? 13 At a personal all time low, I proceeded to remark that I wished those who were confusing you would "emasculate" themselves. 14 First ...

Galatians 1
Galatians 1 1 Paul, an apostle—sent not from men nor by a man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead— 2 and all the brothers and sisters[a] with me, To the churches in Galatia: 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. No Other Gospel 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you to live in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel— 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God's curse! 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let them be under God's curse! 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ. Paul Called by God 11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how ...

Steve Thorpe on The Dobro "Galatia" live rehearsal in the studio
This is a video from a live rehearsal. A Dobro instrumental titled "Galatia". It's a little pitchy at times but it is rehearsal...LOL We rehearse in a private recording/rehearsal studio in Melbourne, Florida. This is my first time using the new Fishman saddle pick-up and the Jerry Douglas Aura Pedal, with a Radial J48 DI.. I'm getting better at getting more natural tone from the system every time I use it. Most importantly I can get the volume to take advantage of a funky/rocking bass player and drummer, and they dont have to hold back. This Fishman system, set up with a Gibson Phil Leadbetter Dobro, GHS Strings, is Awesome! Absolutely Awesome, I'll post another video as soon as I can. It sounds way better then I'm getting here.....
