www.zazzle.com Produced by Boris Mikhin; Written by Grigori Aleksandrov/Ilya Kravchunovsky/ Sergei M. Eisenstein, and Valeryan Pletnyov. Cinematography Eduard Tisse. Strike (Russian: Стачка, translit. Stachka) is a 1925 silent film made in the Soviet Union by Sergei Eisenstein. It was Eisenstein's first full-length feature film, and he would go on to make The Battleship Potemkin later that year. It was acted by the Proletcult Theatre, and composed of six parts. It was in turn, intended to be one part of a seven-part series, entitled Towards Dictatorship (of the proletariat), that was left unfinished. Eisenstein's influential essay, Montage of Attractions was written between Strike's production and premiere. The film depicts a strike in 1903 by the workers of a factory in pre-revolutionary Russia, and their subsequent suppression. The film is most famous for a sequence near the end in which the violent putting down of the strike is cross-cut with footage of cattle being slaughtered, although there are several other points in the movie where animals are used as metaphors for the conditions of various individuals.[3] Another theme in the film is collectivism in opposition to individualism which was viewed as a convention of western film. Collective efforts and collectivization of characters were central to both Strike and Battleship Potemkin. Sergei Eisenstein's 1925 Film "Strike", Rescored Part 2
We've re-scored this silent (and visually ground-breaking) classic with vaguely current music in the hopes of updating it for the youth. If after watching this only one young woman or man demands her/his rightful dues from the oppressive corporations that control our lives, our work has achieved its end.

STRIKE (Eisenstein 1925) Snippet 4: Slaughter. Springintgut DJ set to the silent movie
STRIKE is Sergej Eisenstein's movie which he finished in the same year 1925 as "Battleship Potemkin". In this part the worker's revolt is brutally ended by the authorities, which Eisenstein puts next to explicit scenes from a slaughterhouse. Sorry no english subtitles here. Music: Live DJ set by Springintgut, as a show combined with live cello and steel percussion. This scene uses records by Efdemin, Colleen, and Einstürzende Neubauten. Recorded live on the premiere in the Maybach factory, Frankfurt, Germany, July 2009. www.andiotto.com
