Flag of Sardinia - Quattro Mori
Bandiera Sarda - Bandiera della Regione Autonoma della Sardegna four moors flag - Flag of Sardinia Autonomous Region The flag of Sardinia, popularly known in Sardinia also as the Four Moors flag (Italian: Bandiera dei Quattro Mori; Sardinian: Sos Bator Moros / Is Cuatru Morus), is the traditional and officially recognized flag of the island, now an Autonomous Region of Italy. The flag consists of a St George's Cross, with a maure (moor's head) in each quarter. The flag of the Italian Region of Sardinia, popularly known also as the Four Moors flag, consists of a red cross on a white background, with a maure (moor's cut head) in each quarter. According to the Spanish tradition, the four moors' symbol appeared first in the celebrations following the victory in the Battle of Alcoraz by King Peter I of Aragon and Navarre in 1096, where the four moors refer to the Arab defeat by his hand. The Sardinian tradition instead dates the origin of the symbol in 1017, as a banner given by Pope Benedict II to the Pisans in order to help the Sardinians by the attacks from the Saracens led by Mujahid al-Amiri. However, the first historically documented appearance of the emblem is dated 1281, as a seal used by the royal chancellorship of Peter III of Aragon, and its first association with Sardinia came in the second half of the 14th century, as official symbol of the Kingdom inside the Confederation of the Aragon Crown. Since the 18th century, the flag was represented with the heads turned ...

Girona, Catalonia - Spain
Ferries to Spain: ferriesspain.net Girona / Gerona is a city in the northeast of Catalonia, Spain at the confluence of the rivers Ter, Onyar, Galligants and Güell with an estimated population of 95000. It is the capital of the province of the same name and of the comarca of the Gironès. History The first historical inhabitants in the region were Iberians; Girona is the ancient Gerunda, a city of the Ausetani. Later, the Romans built a citadel there, which was given the name of Gerunda. The Visigoths ruled in Girona until it was conquered by the Moors. Finally, Charlemagne reconquered it in 785 and made it one of the fourteen original countships of Catalonia. Thus it was wrested temporarily from the Moors, who were driven out finally in 1015. Wilfred the Hairy incorporated Girona to the countship of Barcelona in 878. Alfonso I of Aragón declared Girona to be a city in the 11th century. The ancient countship later became a duchy (1351) when King Peter III of Aragon gave the title of Duke to his first-born son, John. In 1414, King Ferdinand I in turn gave the title of Prince of Girona to his first-born son, Alfonso. The title is currently carried by Prince Felipe, Prince of Asturias, the first since the 16th century to do so. The 12th century saw a flourishing of the Jewish community of Girona, with one of the most important Kabbalistic schools in Europe. Medieval II Total War - Official Sicilian Faction Feature PC Game
The Arabs initiated land reforms which in turn, increased productivity and encouraged the growth of smallholdings, a dent to the dominance of the landed estates. The Arabs further improved irrigation systems. A description of Palermo was given by Ibn Hawqal, an Arab merchant who visited Sicily in 950. A walled suburb called the Al-Kasr (the palace) is the center of Palermo to this day, with the great Friday mosque on the site of the later Roman cathedral. The suburb of Al-Khalisa (Kalsa) contained the Sultan's palace, baths, a mosque, government offices, and a private prison. Ibn Hawqal reckoned 7000 individual butchers trading in 150 shops.By the 11th century, mainland southern Italian powers hired Norman mercenaries, who conquered Sicily from the Arabs under Roger I.[33] After taking Apulia and Calabria, he occupied Messina with an army of 700 knights. In 1068, Roger was victorious at Misilmeri, but the most crucial battle was the siege of Palermo, which in 1072 led to Sicily coming under Norman control.Roger died in 1101. He was succeeded by his son, Roger II, who was the first King of Sicily. The elder Roger was married to Adelaide, who ruled until her son came of age in 1112.Palermo continued on as the capital under the Normans. Roger's son, Roger II of Sicily, having succeeded his brother Simon of Sicily as Count of Sicily, was ultimately able to raise the status of the island to a kingdom in 1130, along with his other holdings which included the Duchy of Apulia and ...

To Peterborough Cathedral
Took a trip from Leeds down to Peterborough. Had a stroll about town, saw the stunning cathedral in all it's glory and the site where Katharine of Aragon is buried and where Mary Queen of Scots was buried before being moved to Westminster Abbey. Katherine of Aragon was Henry VIII's first wife and daughter of Ferdinand and Isabella of Spain. Katherine's parents reqonquered Spain from the last muslim occupiers and in the same year they authorized the first Columbus voyage. While in the cathedral I also spotted some Freemason symbols. Symbols of the secret and shady society which controls many of the institutions in this country and around the world.

Las Navas de Tolosa
The Battle of Las Navas de Tolosa took place on 16 July 1212 and was an important turning point in the Reconquista and in the medieval history of Spain. The forces of King Alfonso VIII of Castile were joined by the armies of his Christian rivals, Sancho VII of Navarre, Peter II of Aragon and Afonso II of Portugal in battle against the Berber Muslim Almohad rulers of the southern half of the Iberian Peninsula. The Caliph al-Nasir (Miramamolín in the Spanish chronicles) led the Almohad army, made up of people from the whole Almohad empire. Most of the men in the Almohad army came from the African side of the empire, which included Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia and even as far away as Mauritania and Senegal and much of the Iberian peninsula's southern half. By the way I had to replace the audio track I chose for this video. I used originally "The Thirteenth Warrior" by Jerry Goldsmith". Now it's "La Mer" by Claude Debussy.

Per a mes informacio de Vinatea pots llegir l'articul de la revista "Renou" ( www.cardonavives.com This second chapter presents the "fact (action) of Vinatea", that is told in the Chronicle of the king Peter the Ceremonious. Francesc de Vinatea (b. Morella, Els Ports, 1273 - d. Valencia, 1333). Knight and noble man of the Kingdom of Valencia. He is erroneously known as Guillem de Vinatea, for a error in the Chronicle of Peter the Cerimonious. The King acceded to his wife, Queen Eleanor's wishes to abundantly provide for his children, principally the Infant Ferdinand. This was to the detriment of the heir Peter, future Peter III the Ceremonious, fruit of the Do-Gooder's first marriage. As a result, the following donations were bestowed: Tortosa, with the title of maquis for Ferdinand, and the valencian cities of Alacant, Elda, Novelda, Oriola, Guardamar, and after the valencian cities of Xativa, Alzira, Morvedre, Morella, Borriana and Castello. These latter donations provoked such a hostile reaction in the city of Valencia (head of the Kingdom), with Vinatea's demanding that the kings annul the cessions, that the queen finally came to agree that such demonstrations would not have been permitted by her ...

Chapel of St. Lucia the Brotherhood of St. Lucia, Virgin and Martyr, was founded in 1238 in the Cathedral of Valencia, under the title "Almoyna Santa Lucia", shortly after the conquest of the city by Jaime I. Under royal authorization obtained from the Human King Martin in 1399, the brothers built the present chapel near Torrent Portal, leaving its original location in the Cathedral of Valencia. The old chapel of the brotherhood of "Santa Lucia Almoyna" of the Cathedral of Valencia was located in the ambulatory, the site now occupied by the Chapel of San Rafael Archangel was founded in 1276 at the request of Mrs. Constance of Swabia daughter of King Manfred of Sicily, who was married to King Peter III of Aragon. The Brotherhood of Santa Lucia is called "Pontificia, Real and Primitive Brotherhood of Saint Lucia Virgin and Martyr" and is headquartered in this hermitage. The Aeolian islands to the north are administratively a part of Sicily, as are the Aegadian Islands and Pantelleria Island to the west, Ustica Island to the north-west, and the Pelagian Islands to the south-west. Sicily has been noted for two millennia as a grain-producing territory. Oranges, lemons, olives, olive oil, almonds, and wine are among its other agricultural products. The mines of the Enna and Caltanissetta district became a leading sulfur-producing area in the 19th century but have declined since the 1950s. http Sicily is divided into nine provinces: Agrigento, Caltanissetta, Catania, Enna, Messina, Palermo, Ragusa, Syracuse (Siracusa), Trapani History The original inhabitants of Sicily, long absorbed into the population, were tribes known to Greek writers as the Elymians, the Sicani and the Siculi or Sicels. "Honey, Let Me Sing You A Song"
Chilline Tagaytay / Antonio's Restaurant - The day started with the whole team arriving too early at the venue (just like any other wedding events of ours), Marko and Robyn were still having breakfast at Chilline with their family and friends that came all the way from Europe and Singapore. Marko and Robyn were too cool during the preparation of their wedding. Robyn even went shopping with her friend Maria and Marko had an early party at Discovery Hotel, Tagaytay together with his friends. Ceremony came and it was fun and emotional for all of them. The guests witnessed how Marko and Robyn really love each other. They are a perfect pair. The reception started out with a six course sit-down meal and everybody enjoyed the food that Antonios has to offer. At the end of the day they laughed and party... all night :)

Words at War: Eighty-Three Days: The Survival Of Seaman Izzi / Paris Underground / Shortcut to Tokyo
The French Résistance has had a great influence on literature, particularly in France. A famous example is the poem "Strophes pour se souvenir", which was written by the communist academic Louis Aragon in 1955 to commemorate the heroism of the Manouchian Group, whose 23 members were shot by the Nazis. The Résistance is also portrayed in Jean Renoir's wartime This Land is Mine (1943), which was produced in the USA. In the immediate post-war years, French cinema produced a number of films that portrayed a France broadly present in the Résistance.[188][189] The 1946 La Bataille du rail depicted the courageous efforts of French railway workers to sabotage German reinforcement trains,[190] and in the same year Le Père tranquille told the story of a quiet insurance agent secretly involved in the bombing of a factory.[190] Collaborators were hatefully presented as a rare minority, as played by Pierre Brewer in Jéricho (1946) or Serge Reggiani in Les Portes de la nuit (1946), and movements such as the Milice were rarely evoked. In the 1950s, a less heroic interpretation of the Résistance to the occupation gradually began to emerge.[190] In Claude Autant-Lara's La Traversée de Paris (1956), the portrayal of the city's black market and general mediocrity revealed the reality of war-profiteering during the occupation.[191] In the same year, Robert Bresson presented A Man Escaped, in which an imprisoned Résistance activist works with a reformed collaborator inmate to escape.[192] A ...
