Travel Niagara Falls - Journey Behind The Falls - 2 portals
Finally, I had a chance to explore the great falls up close, actually as close as you can get: I walked down from the Niagara Falls Fallsview Casino to the Niagara River from where I had a great view of the American Falls. Just a few steps further I reached the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, the larger of the two. I had a quick lunch in the Table Rock Center and then headed into the basement where I started to explore a series of tunnels that terminate in two portals located behind the falls. Viewing the power of these majestic waterfalls from these openings and from the outside viewing platform is a truly awe-inspiring experience.

Florida Travel -- Miami Travel: A Miami Cultural Tour with Urban Tour Host David Brown
As the cold weather starts to settle in over Canada, it's always a real treat to get away to a warm and sunny destination. And there is no closer and more convenient destination from Toronto than Florida. So I used up some of my Airmiles to book flights for my husband and me to Miami. On November 27, 2010 we arrived at the Miami Airport, picked up our rental car and drove north to the City of Weston, where we would be spending a week at the Mizner Place Resort in a well-equipped one-bedroom apartment. On Sunday, November 28, 2010, I drove south into Miami to do some sightseeing where I visited Villa Vizcaya, an opulent mansion that was constructed between 1914 and 1919 for James Deering, an industrialist and heir to the International Harvester fortune. Built in a Venetian and Renaissance revival style, this National Historic Landmark impresses with its interior courtyard, its formal reception rooms, lavish private living quarters and its breathtaking location on Biscayne Bay. My explorations continued on Monday with a trip into downtown Fort Lauderdale where I explored the Las Olas Riverfront. Las Olas Boulevard is Fort Lauderdale's most popular shopping avenue and the Las Olas Riverfront is an entertainment complex that features several restaurants, nightclubs and retail outlets, all set on a scenic waterfront promenade along the New River. On November 30, 2010 I headed off again to another interesting destination in Miami: the Spanish Monastery at St. Bernard de ...

Travel Italy - An Excursion to Orvieto
Mylast full day in Europe had started. June 13, 2010 was a Sunday, and I felt like getting out of the hustle and bustle of Rome to check out a quieter and smaller town in the countryside. After some research I settled on the medieval town of Orvieto which is located about an hour from Rome by train. Shortly after 10 am I arrived at the train station in Orvieto and took the funicular up the steep mountainside to the old medieval walled town which is located on a volcanic crag. The city was nice and quiet and I strolled past several small public parks that provided phenomenal lookout points of the countryside that was stretching out below. About 20 minutes later I arrived on the Piazza del Duomo, and was awestruck by Orvieto's Cathedral, a true medieval masterpiece. Started in 1290, the building is renowned for its lavish multi-coloured façade frescoes from the 13th and 14th centuries. The exterior of the church consists of strips of white travertine and black basalt which give it a very unique appearance. The downtown of Orvieto is characterized by a maze of narrow cobble-stoned streets full of churches. After an extensive stroll through this atmospheric town I sat down for lunch at a nice pizzeria and then headed back to the main square. By that time, the piazza had filled up with classic cars, including Ferraris, old BMWs and Porsches, for the Modena Cento Ore Classic Rally. In the mid-afternoon I took the train back to Rome, relaxed for a bit and headed out for an ...

Toronto Travel: Toronto biking tour: Stately homes in Leaside
These video clips were taken during my biking tour on July 15, 2007. I rode from Toronto 's east end through the Taylor Creek Park through a phenomenal, virtually untouched nature area in Toronto 's Don Valley to the neighbourhood of Leaside. From there I made way westwards through Mount Pleasant Cemetery and the upscale Rosedale area to the ravine system west of Bathhurst Street . After a brief stop at Salsa on St. Clair, Toronto 's popular Latin street festival, now in its second year, I cycled down to the historic neighbourhood of Parkdale and from there to Toronto 's Western Beaches at Sunnyside Park and stopped at Harbourfront on my way home. www.travelandtransitions.com Also, my FREE travel ebooks containing stories from my trips to destinations such as Sicily , Havana , Mexico City, New York City , Chicago , Florida , Toronto , Montreal , Ottawa , Vancouver , Halifax and many others are going up right now at www.travelandtransitions.com

Toronto Travel: Toronto Biking Tour -Entering University of Toronto campus
This video clip was taken during my biking tour on July 7, 2007. I rode from Toronto's east end through Riverdale, stopped for a brief visit at Riverdale Farm and the adjacent Necropolis, then continued on through picturesque Cabbagetown, past Yonge Street on to Queens Park and the University of Toronto campus. I had a little lunch on Baldwin Street, a really cool street with lots of different ethnic restaurants, and then cycled on towards the Rogers Centre, Toronto's baseball stadium with the retractable roof, and the Harbourfront entertainment area and then back home through the Beaches. The clips from this biking trip are part of my "Toronto Favourites" series and many more of these discoveries are to come. I am actually a travel writer, and whenever I am not out of town, I write about the city that I live in: Toronto, a city that has many cool places.
