'Innocence of Muslims' Trailer [HD] - Egypt Protest Film
The movie, "Innocence of Muslims," that mocks and insults the Prophet Muhammad caused demonstrators to attack a US consulate in Libya, killing one American, and breached the walls of the US Embassy in Cairo. Angry protests over the film by a US producer, directed and produced by an Israeli-American real-estate developer who characterized it as a political effort to call attention to the hypocrisies of Islam. It has been promoted by Terry Jones, the Florida pastor whose burning of Qurans previously sparked deadly riots around the world. In Benghazi, Libya, several dozen gunmen from an Islamist group, Ansar al Sharia, attacked the consulate with rocket-propelled grenades to protest the film, a deputy interior minister for the Benghazi region told the Al-Jazeera network. A government brigade evacuated the consulate, after which militants set it on fire, said the minister, Wanees Sharef. One State Department officer was killed in the attack in Benghazi, Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said Tuesday night. Mrs. Clinton said the State Department was working with Libyans to secure the compound and protect Americans in Libya. To the east, in Cairo, a crowd of some 2000 people gathered at the Embassy to protest the video. Some of them climbed the embassy walls late Tuesday, pulling down and burning an American flag. Hours after nightfall, dozens of young men remained standing on top of the embassy walls, shouting into megaphones. One of the youths climbed up the flagpole to ...

Egypt: Great Pyramids
The only surviving wonder of the ancient world, Egypt's pyramid of Cheops takes up 13 acres of land, and overlooks the neighboring pyramids belonging to this pharaoh's son and grandson. Experts speculate it took one hundred thousand laborers roughly 20 years to build the pyramid of Cheops alone. Egypt protesters tear down US embassy flag
Witnesses say an armed mob has attacked the US consulate in the Libyan city of Benghazi and set fire to the building in what they say was a protest at a film deemed offensive to Islam's Prophet Muhammad. Just hours earlier on Tuesday, thousands of Egyptian demonstrators apparently angry over the same film - an amateur film produced by expatriate members of Egypt's Christian minority resident in the US - tore down the Stars and Stripes at the US embassy in Cairo and replaced it with an Islamic flag. Al Jazeera's Sherine Tadros reports from Cairo.

Sam Bacile Mohammad Trailer "Egypt Protest Film"
A film trailer portraying the Muslim Prophet Mohammad as a grotesque caricature with "young girl" wives triggered anti-US protests in Egypt and Libya on Tuesday. The source of sudden rage? Egyptian media outlets discovered and reported on the 14-minute trailer, originally uploaded to YouTube in July, after someone using the name "sam bacile" posted a version dubbed in Arabic, reported the New York Times. The film at the center of the violence, titled "Innocence of Muslims," was directed and produced by Israeli-American California real-estate developer Sam Bacile, who called Islam "a cancer," according to the Wall Street Journal. Angry demonstrators, captured on amateur video, stormed the US Embassy in Cairo and ripped apart an American flag. Gunmen, also motivated by the trailer, attacked US consulate offices in the Libyan city Benghazi to protest the anti-Islam scenes they called "blasphemous," Reuters reported. "Islamic, Islamic. The right of our prophet will not die," chanted protesting crowds, according to an Associated Press report.

Egyptian Celebs React Violently When Told They Are On Israeli TV
A video featuring scenes from an Egyptian candid camera series is garnering attention on the Internet. The show, created by Memri TV, includes clips of Egyptian celebrities being told they are appearing on an Israeli channel. The video starts with an interview between a female host and actor Ayman Kandeel "Tuhami." Kandeel is friendly at first but grows angry as a caller tells him he's being featured on an Israeli program. The actor gets into an argument with a producer, ultimately assaulting the original woman he was speaking with. In the second portion of the segment, Egyptian actress Mayar Al-Beblawi makes an appearance. "They keep whining about the Holocaust, or whatever it's called," she begins, before being told she is on an Israeli channel and removing her microphone in anger. In the final part, actor Mahmoud Abd Al-Ghaffar is fed the same lie, which incites shouting. Al-Ghaffar yells "You are a Jew" at a producer and hits him about the head. When told it was all a prank, Al-Ghaffar says, "I hate the Jews to death." In finishing the segment, the female host chalks the extreme reactions up to "patriotism."

Innocence of Muslims Trailer "Egypt Protest Movie"
An Israeli filmmaker went into hiding Tuesday after his movie attacking Islam's prophet Muhammad sparked angry assaults by ultra-conservative Muslims on US missions in Egypt and Libya, where one American was killed. Speaking by phone from an undisclosed location, writer and director Sam Bacile remained defiant, saying Islam is a cancer and that the 56-year-old intended his film to be a provocative political statement condemning the religion. Protesters angered over Bacile's film opened fire on and burned down the US consulate in the eastern Libyan city of Benghazi, killing an American diplomat on Tuesday. In Egypt, protesters scaled the walls of the US embassy in Cairo and replaced an American flag with an Islamic banner. Bacile, a California real estate developer who identifies himself as an Israeli Jew, said he believes the movie will help his native land by exposing Islam's flaws to the world. "Islam is a cancer, period," he repeatedly said in a solemn, accented tone. The two-hour movie, "Innocence of Muslims," cost $5 million to make and was financed with the help of more than 100 Jewish donors, said Bacile, who wrote and directed it. The film claims Muhammad was a fraud. An English-language 13-minute trailer on YouTube shows an amateur cast performing a wooden dialogue of insults disguised as revelations about Muhammad, whose obedient followers are presented as a cadre of goons. It depicts Muhammad as a feckless philanderer who approved of child sexual abuse, among ...

This is a short piece I've done with some shots of people and places I met in Egypt while I was shooting a tourism programme for a flight company in December 2009.
I shot it all using a Canon 5d Mark II and a Glidetrack HD. Edited in FCP and graded with After Effects.
The main theme is "Ah Men El-Fora2" by Amr Diab, covered by a super talented egyptian musician called MARWAN ANWER. The intro is extracted from a song called "Beirut Goes to Cuba".

Amr Zaki scores for Hull City reserves 15/02/10
Egyptian striker Amr Zaki scores a late headed goal for Hull City reserves to beat Bolton Wanderers. The Tigers beat the Trotters 2-1 at the Lancashire FA ground in Leyland in a reserve league match. An experienced City side had opened the scoring through Kamel Ghilas in the first half.
Just to confirm: Zaki took a knock when scoring but ran it off and was soon back in the thick of the action.
Apologies for poor camera work at the vital moment.

2. A Life On Hold
A film by Nick Francis (www.speak-it.org) & Marc Silver (www.marcsilver.net)
An intimate portrait of Omar, a 17 year old stranded in a refugee camp since the 2011 war in Libya.
The film offers a unique perspective of one person amongst thousands waiting for a chance to start their life again in a safe country.
When war broke out earlier this year in Libya, thousands of refugees from countries such as Somalia, Sudan, and Eritrea, who were living in or transiting through the country at the time, were forced to flee for their lives yet again. They are now waiting in refugee camps along the Tunisian and Egyptian borders - unable to return home due to war or persecution, unable to return to Libya due to ongoing violence and discrimination, and unable to stay in Tunisia or Egypt, countries both undergoing their own political upheavals.

Egypt protests continue against anti-Muhammad film
Despite the government's call for calm, a few dozen protesters showed up outside the US embassy. The prosecutor general said four people are being questioned after protesters on Tuesday climbed over the embassy's walls and took down the US flag. Nine Coptic Egyptian-Americans were also put on an airport watch list. They are believed to have contributed to the production of the anti-Islam movie that led to the embassy protest. The man behind the protests says he just wants to combat insults against Islam through legal and peaceful means. Wesam Abdel Wareth, the protest organiser, has said his group is not happy that young people who joined their protest brought down the US flag. He also says there was no co-ordination with protesters in Libya, and condemned the violence there. Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from Cairo, Egypt.

Egyptian officials have confirmed seven men died after their boat sank off the Libyan coast. They are the recent casualties in the wave of illegal migrants from Egypt that are taking to the shores in hopes of a better life abroad. Residents of the village the victims came from said the young men were short of choices with nothing but the prospect of abject poverty. Al Jazeera's Rawya Rageh reports from Abu Gandeer, El Fayoum.
