Coast Live Oak w/ Sudden Oak Death Crane Removal Sonoma County
Coast Live Oak w/ Sudden Oak Death Crane Removal Sonoma County
Take down of a large coast live oak with Sudden Oak Death located over sleeping quarters at a summer camp on one side and a delicate gazebo on the other side. I'm climbing and using a Stihl 660 Mag w/ full wrap handle and a 28" bar. I was working with a 40 ton crane. Note the cheering toward the end of the clip. I insist on working with a happy, friendly crew. The tree was showing cankers from SOD, had beetle frass at the base and hypoxylin fruiting up to about head height. You may note the tree still had green leaves, but in my own observations, trees showing frass, hypoxylin and P. Ramorum cankors are at high risk for failure even with green tops. If you are in need of tree removals or wildfire fuel mitigation ie. Shaded Fuel Breaks, call Matthew Banchero's Tree Service at 707-921-9217 or MatthewBanchero@hotmail.com (Licensed, Bonded, Insured)

a photographer was taking pics of people in the 100 year old coast live oak trees to highlight how beautiful they are. while slightly sensational/granola, its clearly better than enlarging the stadium. can't they do that where the parking lot is?

Live Oak
A bit of good information about the Coast Live Oak. I included a photo of a tree from 1918 that is still there today. Amazing how much it has grown! The house is still there too.

Cathedral Live Oak, Quercus Virginiana SDLN, Bell FL 32619 Trees
naturecoasttree.com Cathedral Live Oak (Quercus Virginiana SDLN) - The most popular cultivar Live Oak is the Cathedral Live Oak. The Cathedral Live Oak has a full, dense canopy that is consistent in height, shape and spread. It is perfect in any landscape design situation where shade and consistency are important. The Cathedral Live Oak typically has a natural straight trunk, full upward branching and has darker green leaves compared to other Live Oaks. For a specimen tree, a park tree or for a commercial entry way, the Cathedral Live Oak is very much a sought after tree. Its growth rate of 1 to 2 feet per year, in addition to the easy care makes it a popular first choice. What's more, the Cathedral Live Oak does not require the breadth of space that is typically needed by a Southern Live Oak. In addition, the Cathedral Live Oak is also very drought tolerant and grows well in all types of soil. For additional information about the Cathedral Live Oak or about any of the other many types of trees available at Nature Coast Tree Corp., call 386-935-9349 or email nctreeco@windstream.net or see their website at naturecoasttree.com
