Multi Instrumentalist - Good Times (by Tobias Derer)
Hey Yeah This is my first produced Track. I came up with that Piano line while practicing. I didn´t play piano for a long Time but after reactivating it this is what has come out. I played all instruments by myself and to be honest as i play one year guitar now, i´am not used to the thick bass strings so it was challenging to play tight and rock out at the same time :D Still it was hell of a Good time doing all that stuff with those different instruments and nice programs =) My Influences are: Thomas Pridgen, Joey Jordison, Thomas Haake, Aaron Spears, Tony Royster Jr, Chris Adler, Benny Greb, Travis Barker, Chris Coleman, Chad Smith, to name a few Drums: DW Timless Timber 43/100 Base 22"x18" Evans EMAD 2 Clear Toms 8"x7" 10"x8" Top: Evans EC2S / SST CLEAR CONTROL 12"x9" Bottom: Evans EC Resonant 14"x13" 16"x14" Snare 14"x6,5" Cooper Top: CS coated Black Dot Cymbals: Sabian 14" Legacy Hats Sabian 18" X-treme Crash Sabian 22" Vault Medium Ride Sabian 19" X-treme Crash Zildijan 13" Master Works Edge Hats Zildijan 19" Hybrid China Sabian 17" Legacy Crash 9000 Hardware 9002 Double Pedal Guitar: Epiphone Les Paul Costume Prophecy Piano: Roland FP-7 Bass: ??? Multi-instrumentalist improv (jamming with myself)
I'm selling almost all my instruments for a big move, and I figured now was a time to finally do something like this-- I've been wanting to for quite awhile. This includes all the instruments I own (even if only for a brief three notes like the ocarina). All the parts were improvised as I recorded them, and filmed at the same time as they were recorded into my laptop (so if I messed up I would have to stop the camera and the DAW and start them both all over again!). Instruments used: -Dynamic drumkit with no crash cymbal, broken middle tom and replaced hihat -Walden Hawthorne HO220 acoustic guitar -Yamaki Deluxe Folk acoustic guitar (the much-loved one with the art all over it) -Samick Corsair bass guitar -Fender FM52-e electric/acoustic mandolin -Tandy Concertmate-470 mini keyboard -E-MU Proteus MPS Plus Orchestral keyboard (as heard in Myst) -White Peavey Reactor tele-style electric guitar w/ "Little '59" single-size humbucker in the bridge (w/ added series/parallel toggle on tone knob) -ESP LTD MH-50 electric guitar (tinfoil tape!) -Some obscure gourd mbira/kalimba -Equally obscure flat clay ocarina -Hohner Pro Harp F# harmonica -Shure SM58 to record everything (just one). Mixed in Cool Edit Pro and mastered with iZotope Ozone 3. Video edited with Adobe Premier CS4 (thanks to my brother Brian for providing the computing power to do so!).

Renato Martins playing MORINGA at "INSTRUMENTAL SESC BRASIL"
The multi instrumentalist Renato Martins, born in Rio brought up in Sao Paulo, started to play percussion and piano when he was just four years old. His musical education started at six with maestro Silvio Tancredi, progressing on to study drums and piano concentrating on Brazilian popular music at Zimbo Trio's School, The CLAM. He also studied classical piano with Professor Leda Maria Chacur Alves, as well as harmony, composition and conducting at Santa Marcelina Arts University. Renato was self-taught in a majority of his percussion techniques and created new techniques (melodically) for traditional instruments, for example, the moringa (clay pot). He is also known to have applied kitchen utensils as percussion instruments and has been considered a renewer of the Brazilian percussion by the specialized media.
