Lee Marvin, Dennis Hopper, Sir Richard Attenborough, Sydney Pollack, Ralph Bellamy, Don Ameche, Anne Francis, James Toback, Robert Downey Sr., Wolfgang Petersen (in his first American interview upon the release of DAS BOOT), Sam Raimi (in his very first video interview, promoting THE EVIL DEAD) -- these are just a few of the many filmmakers represented in Gallagher's candid, in-depth filmmaker-on-filmmaker interviews. The shows were produced and edited by Gallen, photographed by Gallen and Billy Coleman (longtime SOPRANOS camera operator). The shows aired in New York on Manhattan Cable TV, and nationally through various film school outlets, and are now available for the first time on Google Video. Elizabeth Taylor - A Place in The Sun - by Richard Bassett
Film producer George Stevens paired Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor together in the classic, "A Place in The Sun", which was said to have been the most tragic, yet passionate love story of the decade. It was filmed in 1949 (released two years later) when Elizabeth Taylor was 17 years old. Elizabeth had just ended her second engagement and fell madly in love with Montgomery Clift. Of course, he felt the same about her but a romance was not in the cards. At a time when being gay could destroy careers, Montgomery Clift had to hide his homosexuality from the world. But not from Elizabeth Taylor. What did develop between them was the greatest friendship two people could have. Two people who intuitively understood each other. Elizabeth remained his best friend until his 1966 death. Montgomery was gifted beyond belief. His chemistry with Elizabeth was mesmerizing. Again, instead of posting endless parts 1, 2, 3, 4, (of these great films) please view the movie in its entirety to obtain the best possible experience. All of Elizabeth Taylor's films are meant to be viewed in their entirety. Your eyes will find it impossible to stray from her screen appearance for never more than a few seconds before returning to watching the master skill that she easily possesses. Montgomery was also a tortured soul, as well. As was Van Gogh, this world was never meant for one as beautiful as he was. It was Elizabeth's kindness and compassion towards him that would draw her to the hearts of ...

The March, Part 1 of 3 (1964)
Examining the 1963 Civil Rights March on Washington from the ground-level and focusing on the idealistic passion, joy and synergy of the crowds, James Blue's documentary lets us see the event take shape from the planning stage -- with sound checks and worries about whether people will attend -- to the arrival of enormous crowds on parades of trains and buses. It culminates in Martin Luther King's electrifying "I Have a Dream" speech. George Stevens Jr., who headed the United States Information Agency (USIA) Motion Picture Service unit from 1962 to 1967, brought in young, talented documentary filmmakers such as Charles Guggenheim, Carroll Ballard, Kent McKenzie, Leo Seltzer, Terry Sanders, Bruce Herschensohn, and James Blue, who directed "The March." This period ushered in the "Golden Era" of USIA films. These USIA films were rarely seen in America because, fearing propaganda, the 1948 Smith-Mundt Act mandated that no USIA film could be shown domestically without a special act of Congress. These films are being rediscovered because a 1990 act of Congress (PL 101-246) authorized domestic screening twelve years after release.
