Jon Gomm - Topeka
"I've never been to Topeka, but I have reason to believe it sounds like this." From the album "Don't Panic" - listen and buy here: www.jongomm.com (Also available on iTunes and from Candyrat.com and GuitarCDs.net) With this tune I was trying to capture that feeling of nostalgia you can sometimes get for a place or time you've never actually experienced, only imagined. In this case I was going for 1950's smalltown America. I decided to name it after Topeka (pronounced "Tuh-PEE-kuh"), Kansas, which ain't exactly small, but it is the hometown of my buddy Andy McKee, the loveliest, most down-to-earth solo guitar player on the circuit. The tuning is Ab, Eb, C, F, G, Bb. Like an Ab major 13 chord. And the top two strings both get retuned during the intro and outro - the G goes to an A and the Bb to a C. If you want to try this tune at home, I'd recommend tuning up a tone from where I am, cos I use super-heavy strings - try it at Bb, F, D, G, A, C. Filmed by Dom Bennison and friends at the University of Chester, Warrington Campus, March 2010.

Ludo- Topeka
After many issues with copyright conflicts, the rest of the collection from "You're Awful, I Love You" is up! Please visit the other videos, posted on my profile!! I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night. I taste blood every time I think of summer If thats true, Im in for quite a treat. Cos Im begging for the sun in a mid-Missouri winter, Waiting desperately to get out of town. No, you cant keep a good man down. Youve been known to obsess over the future Do you think youll get away from the past? As you starve yourself just to make it through til midnight Consider what you might have found. You think youve got a good thing now. I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night. Every saint has a past, every sinner has a future So you know it keeps me hanging around. No, you cant keep a good man down. From here on you can count on all things going The way they must have from the start. All you feel is the current flowing through you And seizing your infected heart. I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night. I found God in a catalytic converter In Topeka on a Monday night.. Every saint has ha past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Saint has a past, every sinner has a future, Sinner has a future... Amongst Heroes - Topeka [Debut Single 2012]
The long-awaited debut single by Montreal's own 'Amongst Heroes' www.facebook.com Recorded and mixed at Audio Form Recording Studio by Joey Bannister LYRICS: Staring unseeing at the world, Facing opposition to your every breath. Hate lies in your mouth like a gun, Cocked and ready to go off. Ready to go! Structures and concepts of a higher power Built on wrath and viewed through a crooked lens. Give a grim premonition of disaster, Leaving caskets for the dead. White flags fly skyward, Covering placards of lies. All in the name of the Messiah. You have a mind, but where is your heart? Everything that you hold close, Can only distance you from the world! The hostile song that you sing Will never bring you anything but derision. If this is what you believe, so be it. I can't respect your decision. You only focus on the pain to be brought down. On this broken vessel, We attempt to mend! The condemnation you sow, you'll reap tenfold. The warped heaven in which you see yourselves will never be my home. What God would die so you could ruin hope? I refuse to believe your perversion of truth. And if acceptance damn me, Then send me straight to your hell! Armed with a holy book And speaking in riddled verse, Still you ignore the basis Of the the faith you claim. Were not the words of the saviour: "Judge not, lest ye be judged." Try as I ever might. I will never comprehend. I will never understand how you, How you've forgotten love. What God would die for you? Oh! What God would die ...

Video by Carter Gunn created from archival footage courtesy of The Prelinger Archive in San Francisco, California. Carter is most recently known for his award winning documentary film Colony.
Woven Tide is the debut album by From The Mouth of The Sun, the new collaboration between Dag Rosenqvist, aka Jasper TX, and Aaron Martin.
"Out of the charred embers of dusk Woven Tide emerges with an incandescent glow. Each glimmer cast by the sustained notes of ebony keys, the taut strings of the cello, and the rampant buzz of guitar lights our way, gives us hope, brings us into the dawn of a new day. As From The Mouth of the Sun, the duo act as our torchbearers, scrawling messages along the walls of an elongated cave, toiling through the decayed remnants of fetid matter to create eight illuminating pieces. The listener, who has wiled away the hours, will find a door; Woven Tide will be the light out of the darkness." - Michael Vitrano / Desire Path Recordings
Pieces from Woven Tide as well as solo work by Aaron Martin accompanies the new documentary film by Lost Hill Picture's Ross McDonnell and Carter Gunn for Fastnet Films, Remember Me, My Ghost, which is currently touring the festival circuit. McDonnell and Carter are most recently known for their award winning documentary film Colony which documents the unexplainable phenomenon known as Colony Collapse Disorder that has left landscapes of empty beehives all across America, and also features music by Aaron Martin. An upcoming short film by McDonnell and Carter featuring Color Loss from Woven Tide will be included on an upcoming Wholpin DVD magazine published by McSweeney’s.

Amazing funnel cloud time-lapse over Topeka, Kansas!
On May 21, 2011, storm chaser/photographer Chad Cowan documented this extremely photogenic supercell in northeast Kansas. In the first part of the video, the wall cloud and funnel(s) were directly over downtown Topeka, and it appeared that Topeka was about to take a direct hit. Luckily, the storm did not produce a tornado until it was northeast of town. After the sun set, Chad dropped south and documented a storm that had developed near Emporia, which produced an EF-3 tornado in the town of Reading where it destroyed over 20 houses. The final shot in this video is of that storm approaching and blacking out the horizon. Shot with the Canon 5D Mark II and 17-40 f/4L wide angle lens.

It is a natural formation, but legend says that it is the burial mound of a native Indian chief, Abram B. Burnett. Burnett was an Indian chief, but he was not born in Kansas, nor was he buried on this bluff. His remains are in a graveyard south and west of the large bluff. Chief Burnett's Potawatomi name was Nan-Wesh-Mah. He was born on the north side of the Tippecanoe River near Muncie, Indiana in November, 1812, the son of Potawatomi Chief Shau-Uque-Be and Cone-Zo-Quah, the daughter of Chief Chebaas, who was the brother of Chief Topinabee. At the time, the Potawatomi were a powerful tribe, numbering perhaps 10000. He was educated at a Baptist missionary school for Indian children in Fort Wayne, Indiana. That school was under the direction of the Reverend Isaac McCoy, a famous missionary who was involved in the establishment of Indian reservations in Kansas for eastern tribes, including the Potawatomi. Nan-Wesh-Mah served as one of McCoy's principal interpreters during the 1820's. He was an important mediator for the Potawatomi tribe. After his father died when he was young, he was adopted by his mother's cousin, Abraham Burnett, and took his name ...
