Many to blame in Carmel forest fire
State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss ruled that the operational failures which led to December 2010's disastrous Carmel Forest fire was a shared responsibility between Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz, Interior Minister Eli Yishai, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Internal Security Minister Yitzhak Aharonovitch. Many experts say that the Carmel fire report exposes Israel's unpreparedness for potential Iran war.

Israeli Protester Sets Himself on Fire In Suicide Crazy
Israeli daily Israel Hayom deleted two lines in its report of the suicide note left by Moshe Silman, who set himself on fire at the close of Saturday night's social justice protest in Tel Aviv. The lines edited out were a direct attack on Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz. The full note included the following sentences: "I accuse the state of Israel, Bibi (Benjamin ) Netanyahu and Steinitz the scumbags for the humiliation that weakened citizens go through every day, taking from the poor and giving to the rich, the civil servants." Israel Hayom published the letter without the explicit mention of "Bibi Netanyahu and Steinitz the scumbags," but mentioned in the report that the letter included criticism of the two officials. Israelis were quick to vent their anger on the web, with many pointing out the political affiliation of the newspaper, perceived as pro-Netanyahu. Israel Hayom editors refused comment. This morning, during a meeting of Likud ministers, Netanyahu responded to the self-immolation, saying it was "a great personal tragedy. I wish Moshe a complete recovery. I asked the welfare and social services minister and the housing minister to look into the issue." Silman is currently in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Sheba Medical Center, Tel Hashomer. He is suffering from second- and third-degree burns on 94 percent of his body, and is expected to be hospitalized for a long time.

Haredi protest exploits Holocaust: Ultra-Orthodox Kids wear camp uniforms, Livni & Steinitz condemn
Haredi Ultra-Orthodox Jewish protestors staged a large demonstration at Shabbat Square in the Jerusalem neighborhood of Geula. Many men wore yellow Stars of David on their black coats and children were dressed in concentration camp uniforms. The Haredim sought to compare the media and political backlash against gender segregation to Antisemitism and the Holocaust. The protest was not overtly associated with recent attacks by Haredi extremists, but protestors did support Shmuel Weisfish, a member of the radical Sikrikim Haredi group who was convicted after assaulting a store owner. They also said the protest was their fight against "incitement." Kadima Chairwoman Tzipi Livni called the actions "extremely disrespectful," and Israeli Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said, "We must not use the Holocaust and its memory in the internal arguments and conflicts within the state of Israel. I'm sorry to see this thing. I don't think that it's illegal [but] I think it's morally and ethically wrong. Nothing can come even close to the Holocaust and I think that there must not be cheapening of Holocaust symbols."
