China's New leaders: Just who is Xi Jinping?
He's the president in waiting who's set to take the hot seat of one of the most powerful and prosperous countries on earth, but to many China's Xi Jinping remains something of a mystery. The 59 year old is expected take over from President Hu Jintao after the Communist Party Congress kicks off on 8 November, and his journey to the top has been anything but ordinary. Born in 1953 as the second of seven children fathered by communist revolutionary Xi Zhongxun, he led a privileged life the son of a man with close ties to leader of the country Chairman Mao. But his life took a sharp turn when at the age 15, his father was denounced by Mao and sent to live in a lice-infested cave to learn the communist way. During these desperate times, Xi spent his nights in the cave reading books on Marxism, maths and chemistry. It was these smarts that saw him gain a degree in chemical engineering and rise up the political ranks after joining the party in 1974. Up until now his ascent to the top has been low-key, and residents in Beijing admitted they were not sure what life will be like under Xi's rule. "I don't know much about him, but I think he should be the next leader. I think it will be better than before. Because now each generation is better than the last." "I think in terms of overall direction, he should be pretty similar to President Hu. But in terms of style, I think he will be a bit tougher. That's from my own personal speculation, and from some discussion online." But to many ...

China Leadership Transition: Who is Xi Jinping?
As the United States votes for its next president, China, too, is preparing for a leadership change — although much less is known about that process, which begins Thursday with the start of the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China. Orville Schell attempts to shed light on this opaque political exercise. Read the full story here: scty.asia

China's Xi Jinping missing: dead or alive 习近平在那ㄦ? (习總、雜種、太子、习阴毒)
SUBSCRIBE to Next Media Animation: www.youtube.com 习近平在那ㄦ? (习總、雜種、太子、习阴毒) Xi Jinping was set to take over as head of China's Communist Party until he mysteriously disappeared. It's been 13 days since China's vice president was last seen in public. Facebook: www.facebook.com Webpage: www.nma.tv Twitter @nmatv: twitter.com Tumblr: nmatv.tumblr.com Xi Jinping was expected to become the next president of China this month. His disappearance sparked rumors across China and the rest of the world, several high-profile meetings between Xi and foreign dignitaries including US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton have been cancelled. This isn't the first time this sort of thing has happened in China. The communist country has a history of striving for perfection by covering up the illnesses and deaths of political leaders. Eleven days after he went missing, "Xi Jinping" emerged to send his condolences to the family of Comrade Huang Rong, a veteran who passed away last week at the age of 102. At least, that's what China says happened.

Who is Xi Jinping?
www.euronews.com 59-year old Xi Jinping has been China's vice president since 2008, albeit with a much lower profile than other Chinese leaders. His father was a revolutionary hero under Mao Zedong who became the country's vice premier more than five decades earlier. It was the elder Xi's connections that would help the young Jinping rise through the ranks so quickly. He would go on to hold positions in five of China's provinces before becoming party chief in Zhejiang in 2002 and then Shanghai in 2007. Xi then moved to the national stage, appointed to the nine-man Politburo Standing Committee and then to the post of deputy president. His personal life has been carefully honed by Chinese government. He has a daughter from his first of two marriages. Xi is said to love Hollywood films and has been described as pragmatic, serious, hard-working and low-key by the Washington Post. Others have described him as relaxed and at ease to talk with people, unlike other Chinese leaders who tend to take a more cautious approach. Xi is said to want to maintain good relations with Washington and called for a deepening of "mutual understanding" in a meeting with US President Barack Obama earlier this year. What Is the Future of Xi Jinping's "Zhejiang Model"?
Follow us on TWITTER: twitter.com Like us on FACEBOOK: www.facebook.com Xi Jinping is considered to become successor of Hu Jintao. Xi Jinping is Vice-President and the member of Politburo Standing Committee, and has always had a low profile. Many people are optimistic towards his political career, especially the "Zhejiang Model" that he has created. Some media outlets have even analyzed that the "Zhejiang Model" will be the direction for his future policy. Economists think that under the Chinese Communist Party's (CCP) system, however, the question remains of whether a good model can be implemented. Following Xi Jinping's selection as a member of the Politburo Standing Committee, many people suspected the CCP Central Committee had decided Xi will become the next General Secretary of CCP. According to the CCP process, Xi Jinping will succeed Hu Jintao to become General Secretary during the 18th National Congress, which will take place this autumn. He will then become the President in the National People's Congress (NPC), which will be held next March. Hong Kong-based magazine "Open" reported on the situation. In addition to Wang Yang's "Guangdong Model", and recently ousted Bo Xilai's "Chongqing Model", there is another model. This model is called the "Zhejiang Model", which was created by Xi Jinping during his tenure in Zhejiang province. The report states the "Zhejiang Model" might become the future policy direction of Xi Jinping. The report said that in "Zhejiang Model ...

Tibetans vs China's Xi Jinping: Gangnam Style
On the eve of the CCP's 18th Party Congress, Students for a Free Tibet and the International Tibet Network release a parody video titled "Tibetans challenge Xi Jinping - Gangnam Style." A takeoff of Korean star Psy's uber-popular Gangnam Style, the video features China's heir apparent as a dimwit -- a big-headed oaf whose only response to Tibetans' growing resistance is to arrest, beat and torture protestors. But Xi -- like the four generations of undemocratic CCP heads before him -- cannot stop Tibetans who are moving beyond fear and challenging the very foundations of Chinese rule in Tibet. Ultimately, the joke is on Xi Jinping, the soon to be leader of the unfree world and a remnant of authoritarian rulers of the past. Xi: Resolve the Tibet crisis now or Tibet will soon become your biggest headache. Join Tibet's Xi Challenge: www.xijinping-tibetchallenge.org About the making of this video: Using the power of humor and theater, this video highlights the cruelty and absurdity of the Chinese government's colonial policies in Tibet that have driven 63 Tibetans to set themselves on fire in protest of Chinese rule; 50 this year alone. It also depicts some of the creative protest tactics being used by Tibetans to challenge China's occupation, including a 2011 boycott of Chinese vegetable vendors. This video will be banned in China and Tibet but Beijing's censors cannot stop the truth from spreading: Xi Jinping, China's 5th generation leader will be the last to rule Tibet ...

The 59 year-old is expected to succeed the outgoing president Hu Jintao, as head of the Party and then the country's next generation of leaders. Yet the Party's careful control of information about him means that even those who follow Chinese politics closely know nothing about his opinions or what kind of leader he might be. Xi himself has developed a low-key style and cautious public demeanor.

China unveils its new leadership headed by Xi Jinping
Xi Jinping pledges to reform China's Communist Party and tackle corruption as he takes over as new leader. The world's second largest economy ushered in a new political era on Thursday morning, as China's Communist Party unveiled its new commander-in-chief and elite ruling council. The 59-year-old son of one of the Party's revolutionary heroes walked out, just before noon on Thursday, onto a red-carpeted dais in the Great Hall of the People, fulfilling a destiny that some had predicted since his youth. He was anointed the head of the Communist party and the head of the military as Hu Jintao relinquished all his roles, and will be rubber-stamped as China's president next March at the annual meeting of the country's parliament. Standing at the head of a slimmed-down, seven-man ruling council, Mr Xi then signalled that his era would be different, breaking with "formalism" and "bureaucracy" to deliver a "better life" for the Chinese people. Appearing entirely at ease in front of hundreds of television cameras, a relaxed Mr Xi was a stark contrast to his predecessor, Hu Jintao, whose final addresses as president were stiff, interminable, and packed with repetitive Soviet-style jargon. Xi Jinping Confirmed as Next Leader for China's Party
Xi Jinping is the next General Secretary of the Communist Party, who will lead China for the next decade. Though he acknowledged Chinese frustration with political corruption and a party out of touch, the new members of China's governing board are still very conservative. MYSTERY: Vice President Xi Jinping Disappears Before Power Transition in Communist China
The man expected to become president next year has missed a string of meetings with foreign politicians, sparking speculation There should be little mystery about China's next leader. Xi Jinping is expected to take the helm of the Communist party in a matter of weeks, in the long-awaited, once-a-decade transition of power. Next spring, he is expected to become the country's president. But for 10 days, there has been no sign of the country's heir apparent. His absence from the public eye -- and the lack of any coherent explanation -- has unleashed a storm of bizarre rumours and wild speculation, and raised fresh questions over the secrecy and rigidity of the party system. Xi's last recorded public appearance was on 1 September, and since then he has skipped a string of expected meetings with foreign politicians. Officials have so far stone-walled, telling journalists they have no information about Xi's whereabouts and condition. Other sources have suggested the 59-year-old is suffering from health issues; possibly a bad back or perhaps even a mild heart attack. "Everybody's looking for him -- I'm looking for him," said Bo Zhiyue, an expert on Chinese politics. "It seems like it's a little bit serious. He's been absent for 10 days without any explanation." Xi cancelled meetings with Hillary Clinton and the Singaporean prime minister, Lee Hsien Loong, last week. According to a media advisory, he was also due to meet the Danish prime minister, Helle Thorning-Schmidt, for a ...
