Mike Ockrent (18 June 1946 - 2 December 1999) was a British stage director, well-known both for his Broadway musicals and smaller niche plays. He was educated at Highgate School. Through directing Educating Rita and Follies, he became an established figure in London theatre. In 1986 he made a successful transition to New York with Me and My Girl that earned several Tony Award nominations. In later life Ockrent worked in film, mainly straight-to-TV movies.

In 1992 Ockrent worked with Susan Stroman on Crazy for You and other productions. They were married in 1996 and remained so until Ockrent's death from leukemia in New York in 1999.

A charitable trust now exists in his name.^[1] The trust aims to give access to theatre for children with cancer, involving nights at the theatre with visits backstage afterwards. It also funds leukaemia research, "both mainstream and 'alternative'".

Stafford Arima is a Canadian-born theatre director. Arima studied at York University in Toronto where he was the recipient of the Dean's Prize for Excellence in Creative Work.

Arima recently directed a "revisal" of the infamous Broadway musical, Carrie (book by Lawrence D. Cohen, music by Michael Gore, lyrics by Dean Pitchford) for MCC Theater (The production opened Off-Broadway, March 2012 and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award and Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical). Richard Zoglin of Time Magazine said in his review of the recent production that "...this Carrie has real weight and emotional conviction, and it engaged me more than a lot of musicals I’ve seen lately...This show has guts." Arima is currently in development with: A Separate Peace based on the John Knowles’ novel (book by Warren Leight, score by Todd Almond); Allegiance - A New American Musical (by Jay Kuo and Lorenzo Thione) (Opening September 2012 at Old Globe Theatre in San Diego); and bare (by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo).

Arima directed the critically acclaimed Off-Broadway musical Altar Boyz, which received the 2005 Best Musical Outer Critics Circle Award and was nominated for a Drama Desk Award as Outstanding Musical. Music and lyrics are by Gary Adler and Michael Patrick Walker, and book is by Kevin Del Aguila. Arima directed the West End premiere of the Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens musical Ragtime, which was recognized in 2004 with eight Olivier Award nominations including Best Director and Best Musical.

Walter Willison (born June 24, 1947) is an American stage actor. He received a Tony Award nomination and Theatre World Award for his Broadway musical debut in Richard Rodgers' and Martin Charnin's Biblical musical Two by Two.^[1]

Career[link]

Willison made his theatre debut in the show Here's Love at the California Theatre in San Bernardino, California, in 1964.^[2] He started on Broadway's musical debut of Richard Rodgers' and Martin Charnin's Two by Two, directed by Joe Layton, as Japheth, youngest son of Noah. When Willison first emerged on the Broadway scene as a romantic young leading man, he was fortunate to have the honor of costarring and sharing the Broadway stage with his theatrical idols in such historic galas as A Celebration of Richard Rogers with Mary Martin and other veterans of Rodgers' shows.

Willison has also starred on Broadway in Bob Fosse's award winning staging of Steve Schwartz's Pippin in the title role, Wild and Wonderful, and Norman, Is That You? directed by George Abbott, starring Maureen Stapleton and Lou Jacobi. More recently he has been seen in the original cast of Tommy Tune's acclaimed musical Grand Hotel by Robert Wright, George Forrest, Luther Davis and Maury Yeston and in the original cast of A Christmas Carol at Madison Square Garden, with music and lyrics by Alan Menken and Lynn Ahrens, directed and staged by Mike Ockrent and Susan Stroman.

He was The Celebrant in Leonard Bernstein's Mass, the inaugural production at Washington, D.C.'s Kennedy Center.

He returned to Two by Two in 2002, this time to direct and star as Noah (the role originated by Danny Kaye) opposite Pat Suzuki in The Jewish Repertory Theatre's Two by Two: The Richard Rodgers Centennial Concert, and on June 12, 2006, an SRO crowd filled the Bruno Walter Auditorium, and several hundred people had to be turned away, as he and fellow original cast members Joan Copeland, Michael Karm, and Martin Charnin (via cell phone over loudspeaker) reunited for Two by Two: A Musical Reunion.

He has also guest starred on The Today Show, The David Frost Show, Celebrity Revue, The Dating Game, NBC'S Sunshine Saturday, and many other talk shows and telethons.

Also active as a writer and director, his many credits include directing the West Coast Premiere of THE GRASS HARP (starring Broadway's Susan Watson and introducing a then six-year-old Christina Applegate); YOUR OWN THING at San Diego's Old Globe Theatre. He wrote the book & lyrics, directed and costarred in two musical revues which received rave reviews from the critics, one for each coast: FRONT STREET GAIETIES: DODGE CITY'S HOTTEST REVUE, starring Susan Watson and Charles Ward, which had its World Premiere at The Mayfair Theatre in Santa Monica, California in 1980, and BROADWAY SCANDALS OF 1928: THE NEW SPEAKEASY MUSICAL, starring Shelley Bruce, which had its World Premiere Off-Broadway at Upstairs O'Neal's Times Square in 1982, both with music by Jeffrey Silverman. He wrote the lyrics for WONDERFUL LIFE!: THE MUSICAL, with music by John Kroner and a book by Douglas Holmes, commissioned by Beef & Boards Theatre in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1987, and which had been presented annually around the US since then. Leslie Bricusse (born 29 January 1931) is an English composer, lyricist, and playwright.

Although best known for his partnership with Anthony Newley, Bricusse has worked with many other composers. He was educated at University College School in London and Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge. While at Cambridge University, he was Secretary of Footlights between 1952 and 1953 and Footlights President during the following year.^[1] He currently lives in California in the United States, and he is married to the actress Yvonne Romain.^[2]

Sammy Davis, Jr. had hits with two of Bricusse's songs - "What Kind of Fool Am I?" (from Stop the World - I Want to Get Off) and the #1 hit "The Candy Man" (from Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory).^[3] Other recording artists who have had popular success with his songs include Matt Monro and Frank Sinatra ("My Kind of Girl"), Shirley Bassey ("Goldfinger"), Harry Secombe ("If I Ruled the World"), Nancy Sinatra ("You Only Live Twice"), Maureen McGovern ("Can You Read My Mind"), and Diana Krall ("When I Look in Your Eyes").^[4] Bricusse also partnered with George Tipton to write the opening theme of the U.S. television series It's a Living.

Oskar Eustis (born 31 Jul 1958) is the artistic director at the Public Theater and has worked as a director, dramaturg, and artistic director for theaters around the country.

Career[link]

From 1981 through 1986 he was resident director and dramaturg at the Eureka Theatre Company in San Francisco, and Artistic Director until 1989, when he moved to the L.A.'s Mark Taper Forum as Associate Artistic Director until 1994. Mr. Eustis then served as Artistic Director at Trinity Rep in Providence, Rhode Island for eleven years. In 2005 he took the helm at New York's Public Theater.

He was a professor of Theatre, Speech and Dance at Brown University, where he founded and chaired the Trinity Rep/Brown University Consortium for professional theater training. He also served on the faculty of The Bread Loaf School of English at Middlebury College. He received an honorary doctorate from Brown in 2001 and currently serves as Professor of Dramatic Writing and Arts and Public Policy at New York University.

Eustis describes his role at the Public as both producer and dramaturge. In a conversation with set designer David Korins for BOMB Magazine, Eustis said, “The producer gives me the power; the dramaturgy gives me the brains.”^[1]

Throughout his career, Mr. Eustis has been dedicated to the development of new plays as both a director and a producer. Two plays that he helped develop, Angels in America by Tony Kushner and The Kentucky Cycle, won Pulitzer Prizes. At The Public he directed the New York premiere of Rinne Groff's The Ruby Sunrise. At Trinity Rep, he directed the world premiere of Anthony Clarvoe's Ambition Facing West; the world premiere of Paula Vogel's The Long Christmas Ride Home (Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production); Homebody/Kabul (Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Production); the world premiere of Rinne Groff's The Ruby Sunrise; Angels in America, Part I: Millennium Approaches (Elliot Norton Award for Outstanding Director); Angels in America, Part II: Perestroika; as well as world premieres of plays by Philip Kan Gotanda, David Henry Hwang, Emily Mann, Suzan-Lori Parks, Ellen McLaughlin, and Eduardo Machado. He commissioned Tony Kushner's Angels in America at the Eureka Theatre Company in San Francisco and directed its world premiere at the Mark Taper Forum.

In 2008, Eustis directed Hamlet for the Public Theater's annual Shakespeare in the Park series. However, Paul's direction of the Shakespearean classic was universally panned by theater critics.^[2][3][4][5]

In 2010, Paul made $219,626 as the Artistic Director of the not-for-profit Public Theater.^[6]
