AOL Autos this week launched a new award, Technology of the Year, which will be given to the company judged by a unique panel to have the best technology application launched in 2012. The award will be given out at the 2013 Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next January.

It has no doubt been a banner week for Hyundai Motors at the Detroit Auto Show, hauling in two big awards for "Car of The Year," and the brand with the highest customer loyalty. But it has its detractors too.

Here's a tip: Diesel cars are awesome. They're clean, offer excellent performance numbers and, most importantly, get great fuel economy. In fact, diesels outsold hybrids in 2011. So why in the world is the BMW 335d, a car that possesses top-of-the-line ratings in three categories -- performance, interior and fuel economy -- selling at such a heavy discount?

In what many would call the biggest act of chutzpah of the last decade, a Florida man who pleaded guilty to committing DUI manslaughter in 2007 after police found drugs in his system is now filing a lawsuit against his dead victims for being the real cause of the accident.
