Tilburg In Your Pocket - Tilburg Highlights
www.inyourpocket.com At first glance the Tilburg doesn't give you that warm fuzzy feeling that other Dutch towns exude with their gingerbread houses and pretty canals. Tilburg underwent a massive modernisation project over the years, so don't expect windmills and the slanted shanties of the capital. That said, Tilburg has a surprising amount of fun things on offer. Just ask any university student here. They lend the city a youthful and bohemian vibe, not to mention an excellent nightlife scene. The city's also famous for its festivals and events of which the Tilburg fun fair is the most well-known. Festival Mundial and the International Gypsy Festival also draw hordes of visitors to 'the best city in the south'. And they even have their own anthem! Porcupine Tree - Normal From DVD Anesthetize (2010) Lyrics: Here is my car, my phone and my TV I've got it all but you can see through me But am I here? It's kind of hard to tell I do a good impression of myself But what's normal now anyhow? Sullen and bored the kids stay And in this way they wish away each day Stoned in the mall the kids play And in this way they wish away each day Prescription drugs they help me through the day And that restraining order keeps me well at bay But what's normal now anyway? Sullen and bored the kids stay And in this way they wish away each day Stoned in the mall the kids play And in this way they wish away each day Wish I was old and a little sentimental You gotta see the waves, not the wine bottle in the waves now,

Awesome show of Morbid Angel. Entire show available at our channel: youtube.com/user/ovd806 We have missed these guys for a (way too) long time. Too bad that Pete Sandoval wasn't present, but interim-drummer Tim Yeung (ex Hate Eternal, Vital Remains, Nile) did af*cking great job (as you can see and hear). He is amazing. The setlist was fantastic with new and a lot of old songs. 013 does not have the best accousticsound, but Morbid Angel have proved that with a great soundengineer even at 013 a detailed sound is possible. We hope to see them soon again!!!! And we did: we met Dave Vincent at the Dynamo watching Krisiun: youtube.com/watch?v=J2U7jH-aTH4 Don't forget to subscribe to our channel and mark the e-mail notify option. Captured in various stages and formations on more than 13 albums, including the legendary Killing Technology, Dimension Hatröss and Nothingface trilogy, the chilling Phobos and 2003′s high energy self-titled release, what began as a desire to do their own thing is now recognized as groundbreaking. The band has strongly influenced scores of musicians practicing the kind of sonic alchemy that defies simple tags like "heavy metal" or "psychedelic." Disclaimer: "No copyright infringement intended. Epica live @ 013 Tilburg 16-03-2012 ( Part 1 )
Great show with lots of firework and passionate playing. The set focused on the new album and technically the band seems to get better and better. Though I have to admit that the singing by Simone is not what it used to be. She cannot enthrall me anymore as she did when I saw Epica in Paradiso back in 2006 and before that time. The venue was sold out and people really enjoyed themselves, though some people obviously enjoyed the show for other reasons than for the music. In this day and age it seems to become more common to talk during the whole show. "So how was your day". Why can't they do it before or after a performance? Well, to hell with them. I enjoyed the show and hope you do as well. You can watch the show in two parts. Stream of Passion was the openingsact for Epica and they really gave a marvelous show youtu.be And for all epica fans: Have a look at this band. An amazing band from Canada called UNEXPECT one of my favorites. www.youtube.com Sins of thy Beloved. Playgrounds Opening Titles 2009
Working together with Onesize we created the Playgrounds festival opening titles. Basically it are two guys beating the shit out of each other. It was very important to give the movie a high end feeling. While there was a small budget it looks like it was created with a big budget. It has the look and feel of a movie filmed with an expensive high-speed camera. But actually the complete movie is build up out of photographs only.
Quoted from Onesize (with whom I created this piece with):
The film was created in little over 2 weeks.
Playgrounds director Leon van Rooij asked us, like 6 months ago, if we wanted to do the titles for this years' fest.
I quote: "Playgrounds is a two-day festival in Tilburg, the Netherlands, where you can see the best digital audiovisual art in the world, such as musicvideos, animations, commercials, character design, VFX and games AND you can find out how it's been made during artist lectures and Q&A;'s."
Of course we said yes, because doing titles for festivals like these are rare opportunities. So we welcomed it with open arms.
Next to that, we've been involved in the festival for 3 years now and we are the first ones to design a title sequence for this festival. What a burden... ;)
With no creative brief and even less budget, we slowly started thinking, concepting, designing, thinking of how we could create something impressive, something new, something with a lot of production value but produce-able within 3 weeks and of course something we had not done before with our team, to challenge ourselves even more.
We ended up with the idea to have 2 fighters fighting over whatever on a children's playground. Kind of a metaphor for a creative process, which can be a battle sometimes.. kill your darlings.. etc.. etc... Anyway, this could become visually very interesting, so we thought. We focused on the image, look and feel, a bit more than we used to this time, simply because we wanted to.
We did some research, especially on the visual style in photography, the air we wanted the film to breath.
Initially, the film needed to be very slow paced, almost like a dance on classical music in ultra slow motion, this was still the idea at the time when we shot the images.
Just ultra slow motion, shooting with a phantom camera would not do the trick for us. We wanted to have more control over the slow motion in post production, still be be able to decide camera angles and motion. To do this we used the camera mapping technique in 3D.
The production was made fairly simple compared to live-action shoots with high speed camera's shooting on location. By using this technique, simply because we only needed still images, we wrapped the shoot in 3 hours. Our photographer, Jasper Faber did an outstanding job by using only 2 flash lights, a camera and a macbook.
In post production we changed the direction a little, we wanted more action. Jasper took a bunch of photo's which I found out could work just fine in a quick sequence. The contrast between the ultra slow-motion image and super fast paced short sequences made it more powerful and dramatized the impact of the slow motion sequence.
Joris, our sound designer did what was necessary to enhance the impact even more.
For the production of this shoot we contacted rotterdam based production company Revolver and asked them if they wanted to help us out producing the shoot.
Luckily they said yes They just contracted photographer Jasper Faber who was willing to shoot the images and help us out with the production, since we knew that post production would be very time consuming. Revolver helped us out producing it, so we could focus on direction and post production.
The people who saw it thus far, all responded to the film equally, asking the same question "... how did you shoot it, with a phantom?" .. no, it's all 3D.

Hammerfall performing Legion in 013 in Tilburg, Netherlands. The show was recorded on 27 February 2009. For those interested: Clip was recorded by a Sony DCR-HC37E. Song lyrics: The war still remains No Kingdom on earth There's only pure evil, infidderence to birth In the tombs of the dead One man breeds alone The unearthly warfare shadows the throne Three temptations written down The Lust of flesh, lust of the eye Finally the pride of life The Demon Twelve, the hell hounds My name is Legion, for we are many spirits inside of one To build a land of chaos, brought forth from the Abyss My name is Legion, and we bring destruction and death Possessing his soul The curse of the damned A tormented victim, to the bottom he's slammed One man stands alone Trapped, under a spell Encounter your demons, send them to Hell No temptations left to fend Sanctified, Anti Christ Casting shadows towards the cross The Demon Twelve, the hell hounds My name is Legion, for we are many spirits inside of one To build a land of chaos, brought forth from the Abyss My name is Legion, and we bring destruction and death The Demon Twelve, the hell hounds My name is Legion, for we are many spirits inside of one To build a land of chaos, brought forth from the Abyss My name is Legion, and we bring destruction and death

Actress || live @ Paradox Tilburg #Incubated || 03-03-2011
From Last.fm: Actress is the artist alias of London's Darren Cunningham. If you're looking for clues to his music, you're better off starting with "Hazyville", the title of his debut album. The record presents a landscape as blurry as its title, with house and hiphop beats dissolving into a spray of bits and tape hiss. When "Hazyville" came out in 2008, it sounded unlike anything else out there — you could hear echoes of the familiar (Moodymann, Jan Jelinek, '80s R&B, wonky), but it was spun into an uncanny kind of dreamstate. Cunningham also runs Werk Discs; the label had something of a hit in 2008 with Zomby's "Where Were U In '92?", and its roster runs from the street-bass sounds of Philadelphia's Starkey to the brilliant instrumental hiphop of Lukid and Lone. Much of Actress' music is deliberately lo-fi, suffused with the slippery grit of encoding errors and low-bitrate YouTube videos, to the point that the distortion and compression become strangely beautiful in their own right. It's the modern-day equivalent of boom-bap hiphop's preference for scratchy wax, which makes sense, since today's crate-diggers are increasingly discovering the musical past not through thrift-store vinyl, but dubious VHS dubs uploaded to the web, grainy and flickering with errant pixels.
