Dwarf Planet Crossing at the Solar System's Edge
Watch this and other space videos at SpaceRip.com From ESOCast. Astronomers have accurately measured the size of the remote dwarf planet Eris for the first time. They caught it as it passed in front of a faint star. Eris also seems to be extremely reflective, probably because it is covered in a thin layer of frozen atmosphere. Occultations are rather like eclipses —the background star disappears behind the object and reappears on its other side. As viewed from Earth, the brightness of the background star suddenly drops and then returns equally suddenly to its previous level. By looking at these two events, astronomers can measure the size and shape of the occulting foreground object. If they also know the mass of this object they can then determine its density. The occultation technique has now enabled astronomers to learn a lot more about the dwarf planet Eris. Eris was identified as a large object in the outer Solar System in 2005. Its discovery was one of the factors that led to the creation of a new class of objects called dwarf planets and the reclassification of Pluto from planet to dwarf planet in 2006. Eris is three times farther from the Sun than Pluto at the moment, and until now was believed to be about 25% bigger. But the new observations show that Eris is in fact almost exactly the same size as Pluto, with a diameter of around 2330 kilometres. Because Eris also has a moon, called Dysnomia, astronomers have also been able to calculate the mass of Eris by a ...

Dwarf Planets Interesting Facts, Including Pluto, Heumea, Eris, Ceres, MakeMake & Moons
What is a Trans-Neptunian Object (TNO) Plutoid?... Any object orbiting the sun beyond Neptune are called 'Trans-Neptunian Objects'. When it's a Dwarf Planet orbiting beyond Neptune, it's then called a 'Plutoid'. I will be making a video about this in the future. I didn't find alot of interesting facts about Dysnomia, however here is a few links to websites with facts about Eris's moon, Dysnomia: www.absoluteastronomy.com en.wikipedia.org If you know anything interesting about these dwarf planets, feel free to share them in the comments! :-) Please rate, comment and subby!! xx

The Dwarf Planets
This is a brief overview of the Dwarf Planets, the class of object to which Pluto was notoriously demoted to. I personally think that the Solar System is more interesting with 8 planets and 5 dwarf planets, rather than just 9 planets. The music was originally conceived as six different works to play in the background, but ended up just being filler in between sections. Pluto, Eris, and the Dwarf Planets of the Outer Solar System
For More Webcasts: www.nasm.si.edu Pluto, Eris, and the Dwarf Planets of the Outer Solar System Presenter: Mike Brown Tuesday, March 20, 2007 The Kuiper Belt is a mysterious region beyond Neptune and stretching more than four billion miles from the Sun. Using powerful telescopes, scientists are scouring the Belt and beyond, finding hundreds of small frigid objects such as Eris, which is larger than Pluto and takes 560 years to orbit the Sun; and smaller Sedna, with an elliptical orbit that takes more than 10000 years to complete. Join Mike Brown as he describes the hunt for these ancient and elusive worlds. Mike Brown is Professor of Planetary Astronomy at the California Institute of Technology and the discoverer, along with colleagues, of Eris (formerly 2003 UB313), Sedna, and other distant bodies. The 2007 Exploring Space Lectures, Journey Through the Outer Solar System, will feature four world-class scholars discussing current missions to the distant realm of the gas giants, the icy Kuiper Belt, and beyond. JC's Space Update - March 18, 2010
Confirmed coordinates for this star is: 6h42m8.44s, 41 40' 18.94" Coordinates confirmed w/Meade LX200-ACF Telescope on three separate nights in conjunction with my IR camera to locate this object. I also confirmed with four of my astronomy friends. We all know where Mars is located. The coordinates for this object are no where near Mars. www.nasa.gov www.PlanetxSpecialReport.com This is an IR video(black and white) to PROVE to the naysayers how close this "orange colored" star (possibly Planet X) is near Orion's belt. I'm not saying I believe this is Planet X(Nibiru), but it is plausible if you have an open mind and think outside of the box. Again, this is just an observation of mine since I know for a fact that this star or planet is NOT MARS, SIRIUS, OR SATURN. If one day, Planet X is proved to exist, there will still be shallow minded people out there denying it even when it's right in front of their faces. In this video, I start at Orion's belt. Then at 40 sec, I pan to the upper left part of the sky to an "orange colored" star. I then pan back to Orion's belt at 2min10 sec and then I pan back to the orange colored star again at 3min. I captured this video in Southeast Michigan, and I own all the rights to this video.

Nasa Spacecraft DAWN now in orbit around dwarf planet Vesta [NEW IMAGES 17.07.2011]
NASA's DAWN spacecraft entered into the orbit of Vesta, one of two dwarf planets located in the asteriod belt, between July 15th and 16th. Amazing new images and fascinating new data are emerging from this small body, and DAWN will remain in orbit around the asteroid (a feat never before achieved) for one year. The second part of its mission will be to investigate the larger dwarf planet Ceres. Many new and important discoveries lie in wait to be found in the asteroid belt in the coming months and years.

Brown Dwarf • Nibiru • Planet X • UFO • Nemesis
Watch it in Full Screen 1080p HD April 22, 2012 • Humble, Texas • 8:45PM • Western Sky I was taking pictures of a UFO that was low in the sky. Suddenly the craft began to brighten and light up the night sky. It was pulling in waves of energy and forming a spotlight. When it got bright enough a planet came into view. There have been a lot of sightings in the last few months of the brown dwarf, (Planet X and Nibiru). NASA SOHO images on April 22, 2012 show a large body moving away from the sun on the grey HI2 images. April 22nd was Earth Day and these galactic beings were showing us what's out there on this day. This planetary body is still far away from the Earth. We were given a glimpse as a confirmation that it's out there. Visit my channel to see these motherships up close, even right up to the outer layer of the ship. Sure wish I had been videoing at the time instead of taking pictures... © This video is copyrighted and owned solely by the channel owner. Voyage of the Dawn (Asteroid) Treader
Watch our videos commercial free on the SpaceRip App, available on the Apple and Google Play stores. Dawn is a NASA spacecraft tasked with the exploration and study of the two largest members of the asteroid belt: Vesta and the dwarf planet, Ceres. The spacecraft was constructed with some European cooperation, with components contributed by partners in Germany, Italy, and the Netherlands. The Dawn mission is managed by NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory. This video features images taken by Dawn as well as animated recreations of Vesta's most focal geological formations. Dawn may be the first spacecraft to orbit two separate extraterrestrial bodies, using ion drive to travel between its targets. Previous multi-target missions using conventional drives, such as the Voyager program, were restricted to flybys. Launched on September 27, 2007, Dawn reached Vesta on July 16, 2011, and will orbit and explore it until August 26, 2012. Thereafter, the spacecraft will head to Ceres, which it is scheduled to reach in February 2015. It will be the first spacecraft to visit either body. Dawn is NASA's first purely exploratory mission to use ion propulsion. Songs by Steven Reilly, "Elasmobranchs" and "Escape", are available on iTunes and Amazon Music.

Pluto, Eris, and the Dwarf Planets of the Outer Solar System
Full Video- www.youtube.com Pluto, Eris, and the Dwarf Planets of the Outer Solar System Exploring Space Lecture webcast live on Tuesday, March 20, 2007 Speaker: Mike Brown Mike Brown is Professor of Astronomy at Caltech and the discoverer, along with colleagues, of Eris (formerly known as 2003 UB313), Sedna, Quaoar, and other TNO's (Trans-Neptunian Objects). We now have the capability of detecting Kuiper Belt Objects, at least the larger ones, directly, using Earth-based telescopes. Speaker Brown and colleagues have discovered several of them, including Sedna, Quaoar, and Eris. Pluto has lots of company! But are these really "planets," or was Pluto merely the first discovery of an entirely new class of objects? In 2006, the International Astronomical Union, the gatekeepers of astronomical nomenclature, re-defined the term "planet" to reflect our much-increased knowledge about our Solar System and, in the process, Pluto lost its planetary status. It's not a matter of discrimination; our knowledge growth merely exceeded the limitations of existing terminology. Full Video- www.youtube.com
