Panel Discussion on 'Our Nixon' at 2013 Virginia Film Festival
Former Virginia Governor Gerald Baliles leads a discussion about the documentary film, "Our Nixon," with the film's co-producer, Brian L. Frye, and Miller Center scholar Ken Hughes. "Our Nixon" compiles "home movies" made by Nixon administration White House aides Dwight Chapin, John Ehrlichman, and H.R. Haldeman in the years between Nixon's first inauguration and the three aides' resignations resulting from the Watergate affair. Mixed in with the amateur video clips are excerpts from contemporary network news reports. Frye explains how the archival film was discovered and preserved while Hughes puts the film into context with regard to the Nixon White House audio tapes, which have been transcribed by the Miller Center for Public Affairs at the University of Virginia. Recorded at the Newcomb Hall Theater on the grounds of the University of Virginia on Sunday, November 10, 2013.- published: 12 Nov 2013
