This Friday night in Cypress, NWA Houston is back in action and even breaking out the TV cameras for the first time! Details on that aspect have not yet been released, but nonetheless a huge card is set to happen at the Cypress VFW for "Back To The Old School 2."
The main event is set to feature a six-person tag team match, as the team of Arrogance, Beauty, & Charisma (Carson, Barbi Hayden, and NWA LoneStar Champion Mike Dell) will square off against heated rivals from The Psycho Circus (Ryan Genesis, Jen-Alise, and NWA Texas Heavyweight Champion Scot Summers). These two teams have been at each other's throats for months now, and look to finally put an end to this rivalry. For Summers, it's a chance to put months of distractions behind him, and move on to new competition. For Dell, a victory could line him up for a shot at Summers' title. A lot is on the line in this match, so don't expect it to be pretty.
NWA Lone Star Junior Heavyweight Champion David Duperon will finally get what he wants this Friday night. He will face "The Modern Day Hero" Kevin Douglas for the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. Duperon has been on a tear as of late, leaving a trail of bodies in his quest to become a World Champion. Douglas has gone coast to coast defending his gold and looks to put Duperon back at the bottom of the ladder.
Last month, a lot of questions were left unanswered after Austin Rhodes left Chaz Taylor in the middle of the ring to defend himself against The Path of Reistance (Dane and Rowe). Rhodes was filling in for Hambone, who was dealing with injuries. The end result saw Chaz getting pummeled in the ring and losing the NWA Lone Star Tag Titles to Dane and Rowe. Rhodes told Chaz he should know why it happened, and walked off.
This month, Rhodes returns to Cypress, and brings a big fan favorite with him. He will team with Brent McKenzie, formerly known as Bubba Dumplins, as they get a shot at The Path of Resistance and the NWA Lone Star Tag Team Titles. All four men are as brutal as they come, and fans can expect a hard-hitting match this Friday night.
One of the highlighted matches of the night will feature a man that was banned from NWA Houston two months ago. Darin Childs, a well-known anarchist, burst onto the scene in June and viciously assaulted the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Champion Kevin Douglas. He handcuffed him to the ring ropes and left him as a battered mess. NWA Lone Star CEO Tony Brooklyn subsequently banned him from the building, but Childs has reportedly gone behind his back to the NWA Board of Directors and has been reinstated. At least, for the time being.
This Friday, Childs will face newcomer Barrett Brown in singles action. Brown was in the ring with Douglas back in June when Childs launched his attack, and now high stakes have been placed on this match. If Childs were to win this match, he will receive a future shot at the NWA World Junior Heavyweight Championship. However if he loses, he will be gone from NWA Houston for good.
You will also see the ladies in action in Cypress. NWA Lone Star Women's Champion Rachel Summerlyn will defend her title against Miss Maulie, who makes her debut. Summerlyn was originally thought to be defending against Bree Ann, but an injury forced Bree to the sidelines. After being victorious last month against Jen-Alise and Barbi Hayden, Bree was attacked by Hayden. As a result, she was not cleared to compete this month and will have to wait another day to get her shot.
Another feature match at "Back To The Old School 2" will see "The Name That Entertains" Jasper Davis face off against Joey Diamond. Fans will remember that Diamond was a special referee for last month's Davis/Carson match, and everybody thought that Joey would be looking to screw over Carson after their long friendship came to a disastrous end last year. But he actually FAVORED Carson in the match, and did everything he could to keep Davis from winning the match. Davis would win the match, but now has his sights set on retribution for last month.
In addition, fans will also see the always entertaining Mysterious Q in action against Byron Wilcott, and Ricky Starks will make his debut against Jack Jameson. This shapes up to be a huge night of wrestling action, and it all goes down this Friday night.
